Why CyborgMatt (maybe) can’t be Icefrog

While by no means conclusive, this is a possible \reason to prove this rumor false imho:

-A previous valve employee on Daily Dota states that skype does not work in the Valve firewall

-Icefrog plays multiple times during business hours on skype on Daily Dota

is this an actual theory? because cyborg matt has been trading for cards, im assuming ice frog would have no need for that.

I’ll let you in on a secret. I have played with him and spoken with him on Mumble. He isn’t Icefrog.

If you’re looking for IceFrog, I would suggest to start looking for people who left Blizzard in 2009.

It’s amazing how IceFrog’s identity hasn’t been exposed yet. You’d think the internet would compile and comb through every photo of events IceFrog has supposedly been at and come up with a person(s).

Icefrog is just as symbol it shall be passed on to the next person who proves worthy and shall come when they need him!

@barnell: doesn’t seem to be a problem for any other game dev. I use that term loosely in this case.

@kishinfoulux: Icefrog is the developer of Dota. Cyborgmatt dota 2 compendium wiki He took over around 2007 I believe after Pendragon and Gusinoo left (Now both at Riot). Icefrog is known for his secrecy of who he actually is. There are a ton of rumors out there, but this one that he is Cyborgmatt just started as a joke.

Not sure why he likes to be so private, however you gotta respect it. He doesn’t really want anything to do with being in the public eye. Over the years this has turned him into a legend of sort since so few people know the true identity of Icefrog.

I never really believed the rumor, but I know some people do, so I thought I would bring this up.
