Updated: Miracle – to miss the Chongqing Major
Liquid has released a statement that this is a private matter for Miracle and they do not want to discuss it further right now.
The rumour that it is visa related appears to be false.
Liquid
to play with standin at the Major
Update 16/1 15:15 CET:
Team Liquid has provided us with a comment on the situation saying “Miracle has a private, personal matter to take care of. He is a very private person so we’re not revealing what it is right now.”
Reports have come in that Team Liquid will have to play The Chongqing Major without their starplayer Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi. Information is scarce at the moment but this seems to be a last minute change as no information regarding this has been released by StarLadder, Valve, or Team Liquid themselves before today. At this point in time the closest to a full confirmation we have comes from Chinese carry player Chu “shadow” Zeyu, most known for winning TI6 with Wings Gaming, who edited his Doyu stream title to “I’ll be back after playing for Liquid in the Major”. Russian caster V1lat also tweeted out that Miracle – did not arrive in China with his team.
No matter what the reason is for Miracle’s absence from the tournament, Liqu >
Is Valve really willing to risk to have a TI winner with a huge Asterísk because some of the best western players get “randomly” banned?

Do you have ANY confirmation AT ALL that his visa with retracted, other than a single post from a Chinese forum saying that’s the case? Can we PLEASE stop giving that post any attention at all?
Edit:
I just realized you commented here without even reading the post. I purposely included a section about why it’s highly unlikely that the rumor on Reddit is true. Did you read that part?

I am confused, you created a topic with the title “Miracle – to miss the Chongqing Major” and now you are saying it might not be true?
I usually assume that threads that are on the Community News section of the frontpage of Liquiddota are confirmed, especially if its a topic about a Liquid player/team.
I would be very happy to be wrong though.

He said that the connection between “major in China” and “Miracle missing” is pure speculation.
You were talking about miracle getting randomly banned, which is just entirely unfounded.
