For centuries, Black Arachnia the Broodmother lurked in the dark lava tubes beneath the smoldering caldera of Mount Pyrotheos, raising millions of spiderlings in safety before sending them to find prey in the wide world above. In a later age, the Vizier of Greed, Ptholopthales, erected his lodestone ziggurat on the slopes of the dead volcano, knowing that any looters who sought his magnetic wealth must survive the spider-haunted passages. After millennia of maternal peace, Black Arachnia found herself beset by a steady trickle of furfeet and cutpurses, bold knights and noble youths–all of them delicious, certainly, and yet tending to create a less than nurturing environment for her innocent offspring. Tiring of the intrusions, she paid a visit to Ptholopthales; and when he proved unwilling to discuss a compromise, she wrapped the Vizier in silk and set him aside to be the centerpiece of a special birthday feast. Unfortunately, the absence of the Magnetic Ziggurat’s master merely emboldened a new generation of intruders. When one of her newborns was trodden underfoot by a clumsy adventurer, she reached the end of her silken rope. Broodmother headed for the surface, declaring her intent to rid the world of each and every possible invader, down to the last Hero if necessary, until she could ensure her nursery might once more be a safe and wholesome environment for her precious spiderspawn.

The International 2014 is the largest Dota 2 tournament of the year, hosted by Valve, where teams from all over the world compete for the largest prize pool in eSports. What makes the International unique, is that the prize pool is largely made up of funds from other Dota players. This is thanks to a system that Valve has put in place that revolves around the Compendium.

The International is hosted in the USA, in Seattle, Washington at KeyArena. Dota 2 ign wiki bloodborne It begins July 18, and runs to the 21. People interested in attending in person can do so by purchasing one of three tickets.

The Teams [ edit ]
The International is made up of 16 teams. 11 of them are hand picked by Valve and do not need to compete in any qualifiers to attend. The 11 that are picked, are chosen due to their performance throughout the year and are deemed to be the most talented teams at the time. These 11 teams are:

Along with these teams, there are 4 qualifier positions to be filled. Each position is based on a region of the globe.

The final team is determined based on the qualifiers above. Each runner up in the qualifier position will also be flown to Seattle where they compete in their own small tournament. The winner of this Play-In Series will earn the final slot at the International.

The Compendium [ edit ]
This virtual item can be purchased in Dota 2, and it offers many bonuses to those who do. Although the perks are a great incentive, the biggest draw of The Compendium is that 25% of the cost is contributed to the prize pool of the International. As the prize pool rises, additional bonuses are unlocked in the Compendium, encouraging people to spread the word and get their friends to pick one up. Let’s not forget that owning a Compendium also allows you to view every International tournament match in Dota 2, including the many qualifying matches!

Compendium Levels [ edit ]
Along with the bonuses you receive from the prize pool increases, your Compendium also has its own levels that you can increase through various means, outlined in the book. For every 100 points, you unlock another level, and a new perk. Some of these perks are outlined below.

Compendium Showdowns [ edit ]
Thanks to everyone contributing and reaching the various goals, there are a few neat showdowns going on, but they will end soon!
Arcana Showdown [ edit ]
The first showdown has players voting on Arcana items for a hero. Arcana sets are extremely rare and they alter the look of a character drastically. Everyone with a compendium can vote, and the hero that makes it to the end will receive a brand new set.
Voice Vote [ edit ]
The next showdown occuring involves character voices. Similar to the Arcana one, anyone with a compendium can vote on the heroes they would like to get a new voice. The hero that reaches the end will receive a new voice pack.
Model Rework [ edit ]
The final vote is over a character model, which is potentially the most important of all. Like all other votes, it is open to anyone with a compendium and the hero that reaches the end will receive an all new model.
Predictions and Tracking [ edit ]
Along with the many bonuses associated with owning a Compendium, it also allows you to make predictions on matches. These aren’t just for fun, if you get them right you will be rewarded points towards leveling up your Compendium.
The Compendium also allows you to track team progress through the International. You can view what teams have placed in the Qualifiers, view the rosters of each team competing and of course owning the Compendium allows you to watch every single match from within the Dota client at no additional cost.
