I heard something about “Perfect World” which is the platform Dota 2 is played in China, but not exactly sure what I need to do, a google search and reddit search just confused me more.

Could someone that knows give me a good explanation please? Perhaps some other expat like myself moving there for work.

Nope you won’t need to install a new client

You just need to link your perfect world account with your Dota2/Steam account.

1) Go to http://members. dota2.com. cn/login to start registering your Perfect World account
Fill up the register form and get your confirmation code through email

2) Now you have a PW account and it shows that you have not yet linked dota2/steam account
Launch your dota2 with parameters, – perfectworld for perfectworld version and – language schinese for simplified chinese UI if u need. In addition, language in dota 2 here determines your in-game voice language, so far 3 languages available and you may need to download additional voice packs.
Launch and you’ll see different screens, start linking process, and click play. Your Chinese/PerfectWorld dota2 is now activated.
