How to put dota 2 icon on desktop

[Request] DOTA2 Icon add to quicklaunch (taskbar) on Windows 7

For some reason you cant add Dota2 To quicklaunch. It doesnt work. And if you add the exe inside the game folder to quicklaunch the game starts but because it wasnt started with steam you cant play after starting it. Another way to add it is to have Dota 2 running and then rightclick and Pin to task bar. But even then if you close the game and try to launch it again, the game starts but you still cant do anything. Please fix this.

right click on dota 2 in steam library > create a shortcut in desktop

or pin steam in taskbar > right click on steam icon > dota 2

or just have steam autostart with windows > right click on steam icon > dota 2

I want it in quicklaunch taskbar. Taskbar is not locked and you cant add it there. I do have it on desktop.

If you pin it that way, you can open the game, but it doesnt work, Here is what happens if its launched that way, or launched directly from the exe.

right click on dota 2 in steam library > create a shortcut in desktop > right click on the desktop icon > pin

Are you an idiot? You think i haven’t tried that? Don’t respond twice with the same solution. I can get it to pin, but if the game is launched that way it doesn’t work. look at pictures.

First thing first. Next time you call someone idiot, I will kick you out from here. Is that understood?

Now about the issue. yes, my solution was not perfect but you obviously did not do as I said cause if you did, you’d say “right click on desktop icon” does not have PIN option.

So here is the new instruction:

right click on dota 2 in steam library > create a shortcut in desktop > go to properties of that shortcut > copy the url

right click on desktop > new > shortcut > type explorer paste the url > save

So if the url is steam://rungameid/570 type explorer steam://rungameid/570

Now right click on this new shortcut > pin to taskbar

So you have to go through all that just to pin a game to the taskbar? Also I think OP wants to not have to look at a little folder icon instead of the Dota2 symbol. I don’t understand why Steam decided to make it so you have to do all of this just to simply be able to run a game from the task bar. Pretty stupid. Also typical “mod” stroking his epeen because someone called him an idiot. Grow up, you clearly never once had any fix for the problem he is stating. He even told you that he tried exactly what you said before you even said it. The OP obv doesn’t want some work around as his thread CLEAR AS DAY states. “Dota2 ICON,” not COPY LINKS AND HAVE SOME FAKE ICON BE ON THE TASK BAR. For the record I myself all ready have a couple of those icons on my taskbar for different directories, and I don’t feel like having to try to memorize which is which. Valve should take initiative and do what EVERY other game out there can do already. How do they expect people with little knowledge of how computers work to figure out how to run it from the taskbar?
