Sorry not reading though that many pages

but previously with an FX 8 core at 4ghz I was getting

100fps lowest settings with an RX 480
with 7.00 I can barely reach

60fps with the same lowest settings

Somehow valve increased the workload on the CPU by around 30-40%

Set your render engine to DX 9, it has less CPU overhead

Otherwise it’s the base source 2 engine that seems to be the main issue, valve needs to rebuild it with Vulkan implementation from the ground up it seems, and valve clearly doesn’t like working on their games

I benched it on same scene on various api’s, and dx11/gl is about equal, and dx9 is the worst. Cant test vulkan since fraps dont support it

True for now. It was the same when Source 2 first come out. That’s because stuff is ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶p̶e̶r̶l̶y̶ ̶t̶e̶s̶t̶e̶d̶ not tested at all on multiple hardware.
Improvements will come, but I bet it will be very slow.

Hello. I have same problems. I have gtx 950 and i5 6600. Same low FPS notedly in fight.. 40 fps. Valve pls fix

I’m happy this thread is getting more posts but I feel like the majority of the new fps issues might be unrelated to my specific issue.. will have to see.

I got GTX 750 on i3-3220. Its really a fine combo to run a game like Dota. I3 3220 dota 2 Max GPU load while playing game never goes upto 30% after this 7.00 patch.
I happily used to play on 75hz 75fps locked with Vsync, buttery smooth experience on DX9, DX11 and GL. But now, my fps drops down to 30 in battles and not even getting over 65 fps with almost no activity in map.

And just btw, I have turned everything off. Shadows are medium, texture quality low and render quality is 100%. Even if I turn them down, fps stays the same. Dafuq?

Same here. Turned everything down and still same fps. Nothing changed a bit.

same here on gtx 750 ti high or low quality no difference on fps

There are definitely many people in here that have lost performance because of optimization, but are still at 100% CPU or GPU usage, however there are tons more with your exact issue.

I have a OC’d 3770k (at 4.7GHz!) and an OC’d GTX 1080, and I’m getting similar performance to you, which makes little sense. One thing I did notice was threading performance. Could you check Task Manager while the game is running and see if its using CPU_0 at 100%, but the other CPUs significantly less? I’m wondering if the bottleneck has to do with something here, as our CPUs are much more powerful than average, and it seems video settings have little to do with the performance (at least in my case), which hints at a CPU bottleneck.
