This guide will explain how to create a stylized banner for your team in Dota 2.

Before we get started you are going to need a few tools so you can follow along with the guide.

You will need some form of image editor. In this guide I will be using Adobe Photoshop CS5 but other versions of the program should work just fine. You can use GIMP or PAINT. NET as a free alternative to Photoshop as well.

Additionally you are going to need the Dota 2 Banner Templates. You can create everything yourself from scratch but the Dota 2 team have created some pretty great starting points which we will be using in this tutorial.

You can find links to all of the necessary stuff below.

You have four separate spots for branding when you create a team. To edit your team logos navigate to the Community tab on the main menu within Dota 2. Once you are there you will be able to click on the My Teams tab and then choose Edit Logo located at the bottom of the pane.

Below is an explanation of each logo and where they will be placed within the game, along with their corresponding size requirements.

Team Interface Logo: This image will be used on the HUD, lobbies and so on. This image will be re-sized to 250 x 150 pixels. Below is where you will see this image in the game.

Team Sponsors: This image will be used to display team sponsorship on a Team Profile panel. It will be re-sized to 250 x 150 pixels. Below is where you will see this image in the game.

Team Base Logo: This logo will be used to decorate your in-game base. It will be re-sized to 256 x 256 pixels. Below is where you will see this image in the game.

Team Banner Logo: This logo will be placed on your in-game banners. It will be re-sized to 256 x 256 pixels. Below is where you will see this image in the game.

The primary focus of this gu >

Before we begin you will need to figure out what it is you want to use for your banners. In this tutorial I will be creating a fake team called “Tiny Cat”. I will be using images of my cat called Matilda, she’s cute.

If you’d like to follow along with this tutorial using the same images I use you can find them below.

Unlike other Source games, Dota 2 handles transparent images in a more native way. Instead of relying on Alpha Channels, Dota 2 is able to import a transparent PNG and have it read it in a way you would expect.

The Interface, Sponsor and Base Logo areas handle transparency normally. The only exception is the Banner Logo. Try to imagine that the banners have no background to them at all. If you imported a transparent image in to the game, the only areas that will render will be the visible parts of the image. In other words the image you are importing is not being layered on to something else, it just floats there.

When I import this image in to Dota 2 without any transparency all I get is a basic rectangle shape for my banner.

If I erase some areas of the image I start to form a different shape, notice that nothing is rendered in the transparent areas.

You’ll also probably notice that only half of the image is being shown. This is because when the image is imported in the game it is draped over a pole. The left side will be displayed from the front and the right side will be displayed from the back. With the default game camera you will primarily see the front side of the pole only. In other words you have 256 x 128 of usable space for the front, and 256 x 128 usable space for the back.

The Dota 2 team has provided some excellent starting points for creating team banners. They have included some basic shapes along with some nice textures which you can use to improve your banner and to make it look good within the game. If you don’t already have the team banner templates you can grab them here.

For this tutorial I will be using the template titled border_invertedarrow_00. Open up the image in Photoshop by going to File > Open and selecting the template.

With the template open the first thing we are going to do is create a new layer. You can do this by going to the Layers panel and selecting the Create New Layer option. I’ve highlighted this selection below.

Once you have created a new layer the next thing we are going to do is move it so it’s underneath the template. You can do this by selecting the layer on the panel and dragging it underneath the existing layer.

Any image imported on this layer will now show up underneath the template.

Open up the image you want to use for your banner and copy it so it’s on your clipboard. Go back to Photoshop and paste it in, you can do this by tapping Control + V or by going to Edit > Paste. You should now have something which looks similar to what I have below.

If you’re using the same images as I am the scale will be way off when you first import it. Click on the Move Tool and make sure you have Show Transform Controls checked at the top. Once this is turned on you will see some areas around the image that you can use to resize it. Grab one of the corners and hold down Shift on your keyboard. This will keep the image constrained perfectly so it’s impossible to make it look squished or deformed.

When you’re done you should have something which looks like this.

You can repeat this process until you have completed making your banner. In my example I didn’t cover the back area of the banner so I created another new layer underneath the template one and imported a second image to fill up all of the white space.

The next part in the process is to remove the excess areas which are outside of the banner template. Because the templates have a thick border this is very easy to do. Make sure you are happy with your banner design before proceeding as it will not be as easy to edit it past this point.

Hold down Shift and select every layer besides the one which has the banner template on it. With everything selected, right click and choose Merge Layers.

Your Layers panel should now look something like this. Both the front and back are all on one layer and the template is on another.

Select the Polygon Lasso tool by right clicking the Lasso tool on the Tools Menu. This will bring up a sub-menu where the Polygon Lasso tool will be an option.

Select the layer which has your design on it and trace around the areas which fall outside of the template. Because the border of the template is thick it doesn’t have to be precise, so long as it doesn’t go inside of the banner. You should have something which looks like this.

Hit Delete on your keyboard and you’re done! If you followed along with this guide exactly you should now have something which looks like this.

All you need to do now is save your work. Go to File > Save As and choose PNG on the drop down menu.

All you need to do now is test it out in Dota 2 to see how it looks. Navigate to your team profile by going to Community > My Teams > Edit Team Info. Import the banner we just created under the Team Banner Logo section.

To test it out on the map create a Private Lobby by going to Play > Create Lobby. When you join a team a drop-down menu will appear at the top which will allow you to select your team. This will activate your team logos on the map.

And there we have it! You have successfully created a stylized team banner to show off your team in-game. Have fun and be creative. See if you can come up with some unique shapes and ideas, think outside the box!

General DiscussionBest anti-mage player? Black^ or BurNIng?

Many ppl says burning’s am is legendary (just like PIS to SF) but im stalking black’s am and i find it better than burning’s. Your opinion guys?

Burning all the way, he’s just unbeatable imo

Chilongqua is the best fucking antimage this world has ever fucking seen.

BurNIng AM is more balanced, he teamfight early to steal a kill (read: take kill given to him) then farm again, he’s soo efficient

Black^ revolves on farmfest. His farming pattern is great, but thats it

Personal opinion, BurNIng no doubt

Dotabuff says Black^ AM is the best in the world.

based on stadistics -> farm-farm-farm

^^ because dotabuff ranking system is clearly accurate

why icefrog named antimage as burning on wc3?
cus he’s damn good at AM.

dendi is the best anti mage player

I like Blacks farming pattern ^^

If you search for a carry, don’t search eu or america, go straight to china. Burning dota 2 anti mage rampage

XBOCT > Black > Burning

Miracle is the best imo. Go watch his games.

BURNING BRO. No question

DansGame he doesnt even play pos1. Ive seen his am last month i think. He still goes for the old playstyle and it sucks.
Ive seen burning am a lot and the best performance was on ti5 against secret (rtc sf) and he turned a 15k gold/xp disadvantage game to a win.
Watched black and he’s awesome too. I think burning is better but black, rtc, miracle and some others are worth mentioning (altho rtc is probably not worth mentioning anywhere at all)

dendi is the best anti mage guys

Clearly none of you have seen xboct am. No Kappa

Man, I love Black^. Vici Gaming is my favourite team and his days at VG were the best days as a player in his career. Black^ is “Holy Shit!” carry. But, I wouldn’t question & compare Burning on Anti-Mage with anyone.

Any decent carry can farm Anti-Mage as early as BurNing does but no one have I seen using Anti-Mage to his limits as BurNing does.

When it comes to carry players, every professional player can get good gpm and near perfect last hits. That isn’t how you judge the worth of a carry.

Burning can smell ganks from miles away, possibly the reason you will see him standing back at the tower with a support at exact time when enemy team will be in nearby jungle trying to gank him. His decision making with this hero to enter / leave / avoid battles are match-turning points. He uses mobility of Anti-Mage to its maximum as you’ll see him cutting the creep waves when the enemy team is found knocking the tier 3.

Also, I thought team OG and especially Sylar knew how to use Gyrocopter to its maximum but then I saw Burning using it in recent Radiant & Dire cup. This guy is just so good.

So, it’s Burning, mate. On Anti-Mage, no question.

The Reach beta has concluded and the team is now working hard towards the Season 1 launch. Here we share some of the details on the upcoming Season, and what players can expect when they log in to play.

The new patch is wild, with all the positive and maybe some negative connotations this word implies. As such, we are trying to be extremely cautious when discussing it so that we don’t unnecessarily invoke some misguided disenchantment from the community.

62 new items are available for finding, not purchasing. You can now build your inventory through jungling and not spending your gold. Is this good? Bad? Who knows, it’s too early to tell.

The Reach Beta has been a valuable month for us at Elo. The feedback from our community has allowed us to make considerable progress in refining the key automated systems of the platform and we couldn’t possibly be more excited to see people begin to play in Season One.

This is going to be less of a stats recap and more of a farewell to a patch, which overstayed its welcome for at least a couple of months. Instead of going over the same heroes once more, we felt it is more appropriate to highlight some of the heroes which were outside of the meta at the tournament’s start, but nevertheless had a great impact in the later stages of MDL Chengdu.

Bounty runes, come back gold, ancient creeps, camps stacking, and more. The economy of Dota keeps growing and growing but how does that affect supports and cores?

We’ve done a lot of testing with our current systems in the Reach league and are finally confident in opening it up to more users. Divine level players may now participate in Reach, effective immediately.

The first major tournament of the season is finally happening. Get up to date with all the teams participating, their odds of winning it all, and more!

Patch 7.22 is certainly overstaying its welcome and it clearly shows in the current professional tournaments. There are almost no new meta developments and for the most part the Summit 11 concentrated on the same exact heroes as the tournaments prior.

Captains and drafters are some of the most revered pros in the scene. The genius drafting strategies and counter picks can win the game before the first bounty runes spawn. Here are some draft ideas to try out for your next battle cup tournament.

Reach had an exciting and informative first week of games, with over 1000 matches played, and over 1200 unique players participating. Here’s the rundown on week 1, and what’s coming down the pipeline.

The idea of a tanky frontline hero in the offlane has been repeated over and over again for the last several months. It makes sense on the professional scene, while working incredibly well in pubs. Building survivability items and allowing yourself to be initiated on has become the go to strategy for a lot of teams and it is unlikely to change until after the new patch is released.

MMR may just be a number but a higher number is superior. Read this article to learn a few tips and tricks on growing your MMR number.

The current meta has been established for a long time but teams still must find their slight edge. At ESL One Hamburg 2019, we saw more of what we’ve been seeing for a few months now.

Feedback has been tremendous and consistent through the first two days of Reach play. We’ve heard the feedback, and we’re working on fixes. We’ll continue to communicate as we develop the platform, and continue iterate based on that feedback up to and through the launch of Season 1.

Dota 2 ddz brewmaster school

Hi there!
So I recently started playing Dota and feel that it’s an extremely deep game to master.
So far I have tried a couple of heroes, mostly played Bot-games to get a better grip on them before I venture into a public game. I find i tessential to at least know the basics of a hero before I join a match where others rely on me doing my job. But I find Brewmaster a bit hard to play so far, and therefore I ask for guidance.

I’ve googled and found a couple of Brewmaster guides, but most of the ones that has been rated are also 1-2 years old, and I have no idea how good these are todays after patches and changes. So what I would like is for you guys out there who knows how to play this hero to point me in the right direction for a good guide. I know that what items to use often changes from game to game, but seeing as I’m still new to the game I need something to stand on. How to spec, what items are must buy, some advice on how to play him in general and so on. I would also like to get tips and tricks for Brewmaster, stuff that I should always keep in mind, small things that can mess it up for the enemies etc. Please do share your wisdom, so that I can be all that I can be as old Panda. Dota 2 ddz brewmaster school 🙂

So give me what you have, share all your nastly little secrets and help a newbie out! Thanks!

Link me those Guides 🙂 I can try correct some of em.

First tip: DON’T play Brewmaster if you’re just starting out. His ultimate requires a LOT of fidelity to be effective. You’ll want to practise micromanagement on another hero first.

Yes, I’ve noticed that the ulti is a little tricky. Using Earth for stuns(and an extra clap with Scepter), Storm for Whirlwind and disabling buffs/debuffs. But for each time I use it I feel I’m getting more and more comfortable and Brewmaster feels like he could be really fun and turn a fight around entierly if I can only learn to play him correctly. But it will take some trial and error no doubt. What hero would you suggest otherwise that uses micro? I’ve played Sven, Spirit Breaker and Shadow Shaman before him. Tried Dragon Knight and Jakiro but didn’t really fancy them.

Isn’t Meepo harder than Brewmaster on the micro-part? Seeing as The Milkman Conspiracy recommended to learn micro on another hero, I thought those guys were harder.

I forgot to mention that in my earlier post, but this is the guide I’ve actually followed, what are your thoughts on that one in comparison to others? http://www. dotafire. com/dota-2/guide/some-idiots-guide-to-brewmaster-8393

Just played a game against bots and it went pretty nice. Getting more and more hang on the spirits.

Um, last I checked none of those heroes required micromanagement, which is when you’re trying to control multiple units and their abilities at once.

Warlocks’s a good starter since his ultimate summons a golem (or four), but they don’t have any active abilites other than “point and we’ll punch” so all you have to do is make sure they’re focussing the right targets and move them around when they can’t see anything to punch.

Illusion heroes like Phantom Lancer may also be good since the illusions are more available, they also are only able to autoattack and it doesn’t really matter if the illusion die too much.

Alternatively you can just buy a Helm of the Dominator or a Necronomicon on pretty much any hero it’s viable on, and start either converting jungle creeps or summoning imps to practice controlling.

Basically you want to focus on first controlling minions and illusions that don’t get more complicated than “point and say kill” before moving onto more complicated things.

Resolution decreases/Font enlargers and GDM hangs on driver install

Hello archers, forgive my newness to ArchLinux and Linux itself but here’s my question.
I followed the beginners guide but it seems my system just refuses proprietary drivers for some reason. I can only maintain a stable DE and resolution when I install nouveau driver. I own a GTX 460m so I attempted to install nvidia-96xx-dkms. Why? I’m almost positive the nouveau video driver is impeding me from playing dota 2 as I can do this on my Windows dual boot without lag. Problem is when I rebooted from installing the drivers and gnome I am greeted with the following statements upon enabling gdm:
[ OK ] Stopped Getty on tty1.
Starting GNOME Display Manager.
Stopping User Manager for UID 0.
[ OK ] Stopped User Manager for UID 0.
[ OK ] Removed slice user-0.slice.
[ OK ] Started GNOME Display Manager.
Starting Accounts Service.
Starting Authorization Manager
[ OK ] Started Authorization Manager
[ OK ] Started Accounts Service

————– Here I wait a minute and a half followed by this: —————————
[ TIME ] Timed out waiting for device sys-subsystem-net-devices-PI. device.
[ DEPEND ] Dependency failed for Automatic wireless network con. etctl profiles.
[ OK ] Reached target Multi-User System.
[ OK ] Reached target Graphical Interface.
[ OK ] Reached target Network.

This follows an infinite hang that goes nowhere. How do I fix this problem? My shell is bloated and my DE won’t load. I’ve repeated my steps about 4 times to the point i’ve written each command out on install. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Resolution decreases/Font enlargers and GDM hangs on driver install

Have you tried installing the regular nvidia driver?

Also, you should use code tags when posting logs like this.

Re: Resolution decreases/Font enlargers and GDM hangs on driver install

Will do. Ok, so I installed the nvidia driver which made me uninstall the 96xx nvidia driver. This allowed me to get into gdm without a mouse and with another hangup after trying to log in by manually pressing enter on the first user profile and entering that profile’s credentials. Plus there is still no fix to the resolution of the ctrl+alt+[F1-F6] terminals.

Re: Resolution decreases/Font enlargers and GDM hangs on driver install

I’ve realized that the problem is with the video driver for sure now after a reinstall. Whenever I install nvidia, nvidia-lts, nvidia-96xx, or nvidia96xx-kms I get similar results. I’ve also realized that nvidia-96xx drivers aren’t the ones since those are for GeForce drivers and not GeForce GTX drivers.

Re: Resolution decreases/Font enlargers and GDM hangs on driver install

To bring this thread to a close here is what I discovered. It would seem that the resolution problem I kept having with my console was NORMAL as indicated in https://wiki. archlinux. org/index. php/NV … resolution. The problem I had with the nvidia driver not giving a mouse and locking up had to do with no configuring after installing. This was quickly remedied with a simple command:

Unfortunately this stuggle was in vain as this still imposed a considerable performance hit in regular gnome activities from booting and startup into the DE to lag in hitting the windows key for arranging the open windows. The nvidia driver gave me a significant boost in rendering of dota 2 but still contained lag even in offline matches unreliant upon the network. Terribly disappointing as when I dual boot back into Windows I don’t have any type of rendering lag. Either its configured terribly wrong or linux is imposing more resources for the same gaming experience.
Needless to say I reverted back to nouveau. Hope this log will help anyone else struggling through this type of driver problem.

What Is Dota Auto Chess And Why Is Everyone Playing It?

Share

If you believe the internal tracking in the Dota 2 client, upwards of 70,000 concurrent players are engaging in a single custom map: Dota Auto Chess. It’s definitely not chess, and although the characters share some similar abilities to Dota 2 counterparts, it’s absolutely not Dota either. Instead, Dota Auto Chess is a turn-based tactical strategy game that pits you against seven other players in round after round of resource-management action – you won’t need any APM to compete here, as all the units do battle on their own after you place them.

Players begin simply by picking a single unit from a selection of five. After that, options expand rapidly as the game gets under way, as your population cap and unit choices grow larger. You can pick any units you like as long as you have the gold and space, and that’s where team-composition strategy comes in. Putting units of the same race and class together has powerful and often game-deciding effects. For instance, a team stacked with mages will cause the opposing team’s magic resistance to greatly decrease, meaning your spells will absolutely ravage them. Assassin stacks get giant crits, knights get shields, mechs regen, hunters get massive damage boosts – you get the idea. Dota 2 techies counterpunch Mixing and matching race/class combinations to stack all kinds of bonuses and effects is critical to success. Other race/class combos offer more interesting synergy, like druids being able to “rank up” using fewer units than others. Ranking up is an important aspect of the game and another layer of strategy, as it makes your characters much more powerful.

To rank up, you’ll need three of the same unit, which is made more difficult if everyone in your game is trying to play the same races/classes, so it’s to your benefit to try and seek out lesser-played characters in order to rank them up easier. Everyone draws from the same unit pool, so if everyone wants to stack mages, those players will crumble easily as they struggle to rank up units while the knight player gets all the uncontested rank ups to themselves.

In addition to attempting to forge the best team, keeping an eye on your funds is critical. You get money from wins, win streaks, lose streams, and interest each round. You can sandbag early on and take some losses and damage to try to get a big interest stack kicking, but try and tempt fate too much and you may lose the game before your big stack of cash starts providing meaningful dividends.

Each round you face a random opponent from whoever is remaining in the game, until there’s only one left standing. Placing in the top three will net you some candy, which you can use to unlock cosmetics you can use from game to game. After a few games, you’ll also get a ranking based on chess pieces, like pawn, knight, or bishop, and this will go up and down as you continue to play games.

Every so often the custom map scene has a mod that catches fire. While its longevity remains to be seen, if you’re into this sort of strategy experience, you can play it for free inside the Dota 2 client (which is free) on Steam, so I recommend giving it a shot. It’s not chess, and it’s not Dota, but it’s a great game to queue up and play with friends or solo. It takes a few games to start to understand how everything works, but it’s got some really fun strategy hooks underneath everything. The Biggest and Best Dota 2 Drama of 2017

2017 is coming to a close, so it’s time to reflect on the myriad of drama we’ve been treated to this past year in the world of Dota 2. Here are some of the more notable debacles.

Personalities and Players

Admittedly, I had no clue who she was until the drama bomb of 2017 hit /r/Dota2 and the ensuing mod conspiracy theory fallout was under full swing. I wrote about it in more detail here, but the tl;dr is a popular stackmate of Bulldog pretended to be someone she wasn’t by using a model’s photos and images on social media. Dota 2 reporter episode 47 drama When she was outed, the mods of /r/Dota2 initially deleted the thread (allegedly due to the caliber of comments populating it) which triggered mass accusations of unfair censorship and whiteknighting. This was a top 10 drama blowup for sure.

Drama Status: Definitely still simmering. Some people still have a bone to pick with the mods over the initial thread removal.

Playing into the Nara incident is Reddit’s treatment of CCnC, a semi-pro player/analyst who would later join PPD’s squad. He was invited to TI7 as part of the panel, and Dota fans were quick to point out that he was prone to raging in games, feeding, and generally being a really salty player. Dota is no stranger to controversial idols. PPD is known for his salty attitude, EternalEnvy rage-feeds sometimes, and people love RTZ for his babyrage.

CCnC was raked over the coals pretty hard by the Reddit community though, and mods generally didn’t remove threads about him despite the personal attack nature of some of the comments. This fed into the whiteknighting accusations in regard to Nara’s threads being initially removed.

Drama Status: Hard to say. I think people are over CCnC’s salty behavior in pubs (at least threads about him aren’t dominating the front page any more).

Ana owes some guy a lot of money (allegedly). Apparently, unknown-at-the-time player Ana signed a contract–or rather, his legal guardian signed it, since he was underage–offering 10% of his future winnings in exchange for coaching, exposure, and living situation. Once Ana started winning with OG, his personal coach claimed that he never paid out, despite the coach fronting a bunch of expenses. Ana had a run-in with contract issues in the past (with IG) as well.

Drama Status: The ex-coach (wobbly_au) said they would be giving the proceedings to charity minus the legal fees, should he win his case against Ana. Dota 2 reporter episode 47 drama I don’t think there’s been an update on the situation yet, and Ana hasn’t publicly addressed the accusations.

Valve

Siltbreaker

Valve Time. Pay to Play. We finally get something close to a single player campaign in Dota, and it was marred by typical Valve shenanigans. Siltbreaker was locked behind the Battle Pass paywall, which makes it effectively DLC. This is fine, but the pass expired after a certain time, which means if you didn’t play Siltbreaker Acts I and II during the window, you can’t play them. Act II was also delayed, but that’s pretty much par for the course with Valve.

Drama Status: Well, it’s gone now. You can find Siltbreaker in the Arcade, but expect it to be buggy and broken.

The Great MMR Reset

Fiddling with the beloved metric of rating one’s status as a player is always a contentious act. One of the issues with the MMR system was persistent “power creep.” The top MMR cap kept creeping up, making it difficult to gauge players’ abilities. For example, if the cap used to be around 7K and now it’s possible to hit 10K, the relative skill of a 2K player is now different when compared against the entire playerbase. Valve’s answer was to reset MMR and use an entirely different system. There are ranked seasons now, where MMR resets every few months. Instead of a number, you have a badge next to your account (similar to LoL’s system now). This should deter some account buyers, at least.

Drama Status: Heralds be salty.

Help:Formatting

You can format your text using wiki markup. This consists of normal characters like asterisks, single quotes or equation marks which have a special function in the wiki, sometimes depending on their position. For example, to format a word in italic, you include it in two single quotes like ”this”

Contents

Text formatting markup [ edit ]

An article with four or more headings will automatically create a table of contents.

Use of a level 1 heading is highly discouraged as it appears with the same formatting and size as the page title, which can be confusing.

This adoption may be controversial from the viewpoint of accessibility.

The usage of #: and *: for breaking a line within an item may also be controversial.

This way of preformatting only applies to section formatting, and character formatting markups are still effective.

Paragraphs [ edit ]

MediaWiki ignores normal line breaks. To start a new paragraph, leave an empty line. You can force a line break within a paragraph with the HTML tags
.
