Biography [ edit ]

Born in Lviv, Ukraine, Dendi got an early start with competitive gaming in net cafes when his elder brother married, moved out and took the family’s PC with him. Dabbling with Counter-Strike first, he soon found Warcraft 3 where he played in local tournaments and built a love for the competition and a thirst to be the best. Though he was quite successful in Warcraft 3 and even won a few local championships in Lviv, he knew he had found his calling when he stumbled upon DotA. He picked up the game quickly and played it almost exclusively over the next few months.

Beginning with learning only supports, he practiced heavily and was quickly vouched to the IHCS1 league and soon created his own team for tournaments in Lviv. After he led his team to a championship in Kiev, he was drafted by a team called “Wolker. Gaming” and began his professional career at 17.

DotA [ edit ]

Dendi started playing professionally with WG in 2006. [1] He was a part of the Ukrainian squad that finished third in MYM Prime Nations the same year. Only a few months later WG made it to the grand final of one of the most prestigious tournaments at the time; MYM Prime Defending. [2] When Kingsurf. international merged with WG the next year he became a full-time member of Ks. int. [1] In late 2008 he joined DTS, only to return to Ks. int in March 2009. [3] Three months later though, Dendi returned to DTS. [4] The team would end up finishing 2nd at ESWC 2010. At the end of 2010, Dendi and DTS finished 3rd at the prestigious WDC 2010. [5] Dendi joined Natus Vincere at the end of 2010. [6]

Dota 2 [ edit ]

Dendi started his Dota 2 career with Na’Vi, who quickly established themselves as one of the best teams in the world by winning The International 2011. Na’Vi continued to dominate and won many tournaments in the years 2011, 2012 and 2013. Dendi was the center of Na’Vi’s consistent stable and skilled rosters, with his performance greatly contributing to their success.

The Natus Vincere Dota 2 team achieved significant success with Dendi as their midlaner during the first few years of the game; they finished as the runners-up for both The International 2012 and The International 2013, losing out to Invictus Gaming and Alliance, respectively. 2013 would mark the last year of Na’Vi and Dendi’s dominance in the Dota 2 scene, as they only recorded two LAN victories since January 2014. The International 2014 saw Na’Vi and Dendi finishing the tournament outside of the top 2 for the first time and the following two Internationals, TI 5 and TI 6, they would finish in last place. The results would deteriorate further, as they would fail to even qualify for The International 2017, they failed to advance out of the group stage of the regional qualifiers. This marked the first year of The International tournaments without Dendi attending as a player. The 2017/18 season started of promising for Dendi and Na’Vi, who dominated the CIS scene in the early months, crowning their improving results with their second LAN victory since 2014. However, the second half of the season saw the roster break apart and finally the team would fail to even reach the regional qualifiers for The International 2018, after losing in the open qualifier.

Four years of roster instability and poor results finally took their toll on the reputation of the Na’Vi organization and on Dendi’s status as a legendary player and a top tier midlaner. After 8 years playing mid on Na’Vi, Dendi was finally removed from the active roster in September 2018. However, Dendi vowed to continue playing professionally. After a brief stint on Tigers, Dendi joined The Pango.

History of the Magnetic Compass

Magnetic compass was invented in China between the 2nd century BC and 1st century AD, in the times when the Han dynasty ruled. It was used at first as a tool for geomancy – in feng shui, and only later as an instrument for navigation and orientation. The first compasses were made of lodestone, a naturally magnetized ore of iron. Magnetic compass is a pretty simple instrument that has a magnetic needle or a magnetized bar can turn freely upon a pivot and align itself with Earth’s magnetic field and indicate the direction of the magnetic north of a planet’s magnetosphere. From that, cardinal points of north, south, east and west are very easy to determine.

Before the magnetic compass was invented people new about magnetic properties of magnetite and lodestone but they were regarded as curiosities of nature. Plinius the Elder (23-70 AD) wrote that shepherd Magnes reported that the nails of his shoes and the iron point of his staff clung to the rocks on Mount Ida which were made of magnetite. Thales of Milet thought that magnetite had a soul that attracted stones like iron. Wang Xu, Chinese writer from 4th century, mentions that “lodestone attracts iron”. Between 70 and 80 AD, Chinese use “south pointing spoon” which “when thrown upon the ground, it comes to rest pointing at the south”. Chung Hua Ku Chin Chu text written by Ma Kao, mentions magnetized needle as a “mysterious needle” between 923 and 926. Needle from this text is shaped like a tadpole and it is thought that this marks transition between compasses made in the shape of “lodestone spoons” into “iron needles”.

Compass is used for the first time as a navigational device during the Song Dynasty and is mentioned for the first time in this role in the book dated to 1040-44. It was in the shape of a fish, it floated in the bowl of water and it pointed south. At the sea, compass is used, again in China, in 1117. Lesser used compass for this was a dry compass.

Magnetic compass appeared in Europe somewhere between 1187 and 1202 according the texts texts De utensilibus and De naturis rerum. Floating compass was used for astronomical purposes while dry compass was used for seafaring. With advancements in dead reckoning methods it improved seafaring of that time. Before compass sea travel was done between October and April and compass prolonged the sailing season across the whole year.

The Muslim world imported compass in 13th century. There, it was also used for navigation and for astronomy like in Europe but it was also used as a “Qibla (Kabba) indicator” to find the direction to Mecca. Dota 2 magnetic compass definition the Syrian astronomer and timekeeper Ibn al-Shatir, improved compass by combining it with a universal sundial, to be used as an improved Qibla indicator and for finding the times of salat prayers.

Today magnetic compass is still used for orientation and navigation but it has more modern look than its predecessors and it is made from modern materials.

Thread: Dota 2 causing: Blue Screen, Computer Restarts, Game crash, Game + Steam Crash

Hm, So Strange Situations ))
Few Things why Strange:
1. All Reported BSOD’s from different systems and different OS’es
2. Many BSOD’s Reports Only for Dota 2, in other Games, Software (3D Max, other) BSOD’s wont happend
3. So Many BSOD’s After Win Streak 5-7+ Games At Row unlike lose Streak, so strange

On my PC i turn off Automatic Reboot, and wait for dump, but after restart, Application Crash report for this Application is CLEAN. (MSInfo32)
Conclusion: I think this is Steam or Dota 2 Application Make It Forcibly.

So you found a problem and also solve it in the same post. That’s what I call strange in these forums

I’ve been having this problem for almost 1 year now. I either get Mem error or driver irql equal blah blah. Only when I play dota. Dota 2 bsod crashes I can fill( *edit* full)render video software (after effects, premeir, 3dmax) and it won’t happen.

I’ve searched the ever nook and cranny on the web. Been on toms hardware countless times. Ran ever test imaginable. Formatted my computer 10+ times. The debs keep saying its driver errors or memory. But when I ran my Mem test it is perfect for various instances. All my drivers are updated. I think this is some coding error with some of the new dota patch with older CPUs and graphics cards. I can no longer play dota on that pc. No one cares to look into it or find the issues because no one cares. Thanks Volvo.

Anyways here are some tips that might help.
Get Msi after Burning and try overlocking it just a tad or underclocking your card. For some reason it helped me play for 1 week without bsod but then crashes.

Make sure you have updated chipset drivers. Don’t go by what your driver disk gives you or what the site tells you to download. I was downloading the drivers from asus and they were giving me old chipset drivers from 2010. I then manually search for p45 chipset drivers and got 2013 version from Intel.

Get all your framenet updates and make sure your windows is completely updated.

There are things I’ve done to help me. I would go periods where I felt I fixed it (3 weeks) but the bsods would still come back. It’s a coding issue no one wants to fix because I feel it only happens on older systems.

Q9300 Intel core 2 duo
9800 gtx+ ( yes I have latest drivers)
16 gb crucial ddr3 ( brand new, compatible and memtest tested for 40 instances)
Asus p5q3
Corsair power supply 800w( sometimes psu can cause blue screen, not my case, psu has more than enough power and is in good condition )
Older computer but has more power than the shit i3 I play dota on now. Needless to say it doesn’t crash on that garbage pc. Shit support for some of us senior gamers on volvo’s end.
Newer isn’t always betters.

Sorry for grammar errors in advanced. Writing on phone.

Suggested Dota 2 Hotkeys for an Easy Microing.

Watch videos, see images and read content below for more details.

In Dota 2 we can change the default keys and hotkeys of our personal keys by just going to to settings menu. The default keys of abilities is in legacy mode. The legacy keys is the default key of Dota 1, if you are not familiar or particular in ability keys of Dota 1 and you find the legacy keys difficult then you can switch it to QWER mode or keys. QWER keys is easier compare to legacy keys. As you can see it in your keyboard, QWER is right below the number buttons and it is just in 1 row. Q is for your first skill, W is for second skill, E is for third skill and R is for your ultimate skill. QWER keys will automatically apply to all heroes once you have enabled it. If an ability of an hero exceed to 4 keys, then keys F, T,C and D will be added automatically. QWER keys is the best and suggested ability hotkey for Dota beginners. Some of my friends switches to QWER keys even though they have used Legacy keys for more than 2 or 3 years already .

Select All Other Summoned Units

My hotkey for my other summoned units is “space” or space bar. I assigned it in space bar so that it will be so easy when I switch control to other summoned units. Before I have assigned hotkey to space, space bar has a default function of showing recent event of the match and I think it is not necessary nor important to be in a key modifier so I assigned space bar to “select all other summoned units”. Most players usually use hotkeys and micro more often in playing Dota 2 especially if your hero has summoning ability so space bar is a good hotkey for switching to other summoned units by just using your left hand’s thumb. However switching to some other summoned units is still the default key which is the “tab” key.

Hold Hero

I have also changed my “Hold” or “Stop” key, the default key for “Hold hero” was “H” and “H” is a little far from your fingers so I changed “H” to “Caps lock”. Caps lock has no function key in Dota 2 game anyway, so when holding your hero is made easy since “caps lock” key is just right above the shift key. Shift key has a function of queuing an ability to cast or queuing a hero move in game and I use “Shift” key more often in game because it is very useful in queuing an ability or skill.

Inventory Hotkeys

Setting my inventory hotkeys to Alt+key. It is Alt+Q, Alt+W, Alt+E on my top 3 inventory slot and Alt+A, Alt+S and Alt+D on the bottom 3 of my inventory slot. However most of professional Dota 2 players don’t use this Alt+key hotkey because of the cast delay of using it in crucial situations. You have to press 2 buttons in order to activate an inventory item, by using your thumb and other fingers is a hassle in activating an item.

Most of the gaming shop in the Philippines don’t have a gaming hardware like gaming keyboard and gaming mouse so most Pinoy players had set their inventory hotkeys to “Alt+Key” or other, unlike if you have a gaming mouse you can set your inventory hotkeys to mouse 1, mouse 2, mouse 3 ot mouse 4 for an easier access to the buttons.

Ability Learn

My Ability learn or level stat upgrade is set to key 3 because when you are in the middle of team fight and you just leveled up, you can easily press the number 3 then press your desired skill in which you want to upgrade. The number 3 button is reachable from where your left hand is positioned while you are playing.

Option Menu

In other option menu there are also options which you can enable it by just checking it in option settings. For me, the lists below are a must enabled option.

Auto Attack – This will allow your hero to automatically attack every enemy units in your range and near sight.

Double Tap Ability Self Cast – You will be able to cast your ability to your hero by just double tapping the ability key.

Teleport Requires Stop – This must be enabled to avoid accidental stopping of your teleport channeling because while teleport channeling you should not right click on any area of the map or press or cast an ability, when you accidentally right click on a random location it will interrupt or cancel your teleport channeling and just wasted 100 golds for the portal scroll.

Show Hit Points Over Player Health Bar – This should also enabled, with the hit points showing over your healthbar or enemy’s healthbar you can determine if how many health or hit points you have or your enemy have. Whether you can kill your enemy in 1 hit or not.

Video Settings

Game Screen Render Quality

This video settings is helpful for slow computers. Textures and shadow quality must be in “Low” in order to avoid game lags.

Note: Some game settings will not take effect immediately so I advice you to restart your Dota 2 after some changes.

Best Support Heroes in Dota 2

Yet another episode of Dota 2 heroes by Kill Ping gives you insight for some of the best support heroes in the current META. Previously after covering the most neglected heroes in Dota 2 now we are covering the most picked supports that are seen very commonly in competitive matches. This in any sense does not mean that they are only limited to the current META. The heroes selected are only chosen based over their versatility and in game effectiveness that they provide to the team and carry. This means that even with patch updates the heroes would still have a great impact over a game regardless of any changes unless a particular Dota 2 hero gets completely nerfed.

Anyways, let’s hope that support players don’t see that day when their favorite Dota 2 hero gets nerfed for no good reason and without any delay we bring you the best Dota 2 support heroes of all time.

Chen

Chen is a jungling support who is one of the heroes who does not heavily rely over items to create emphasis in game. His potential can be seen from the very start of the game when Chen converts a neutral creep and goes first blood over the enemy who’s unaware of Chen’s capabilities.

Overall Chen is a very good support hero that can heal the entire team in difficult situations and if you go for Mekansm as Chen you will have your teammates at full HP in no time. Chen at the same time can be a good initiator with his converted creeps. Chen’s versatility comes from his abilities in which he also provides a decent amount of damage to the enemy with Test of Faith and gives damage amplification through Penitence. However, Chen needs times to master as controlling Chen and his max 4 converted creeps along with their powers is somewhat difficult. Even so, Chen is one of the most picked support heroes even with patch updates and changes. A hero that keeps everyone happy with his abilities Chen is a must play hero and is recommended to be mastered by all support heroes.

Dazzle

Another support Dota 2 hero that is good in lane pushing, healing, damage amplification and literally calling a hero back from the grave. With Shallow grave effect over a dying carry you can turn tides of the match with him having 5 more seconds of physical, magical invulnerability. Dazzle provides both passive and aggressive support game play and allows the carry of the team to be a more ease when farming. Dazzle with his abilities just does not allow a teammate to die. He is an easy to master hero with just timing a main factor when casting shallow grave. Dazzle’s ultimate can create huge impact in team fights being used both in aggressive and defensive manners.

Overall a very versatile hero that does not rely heavily over items, Dazzle is in the list of top support heroes that helps greatly in team fights and supporting the carry.

Disruptor

Heavy spamming abilities make disruptor and tough job for the opponent to handle. His ultimate provides him with an AOE silence and burst damage that is effective when the enemy heroes have crucial spells. Imagine a team fight broke at the mid lane and the enemy team’s tide is just ready to ravage the crap out of your team, suddenly you/ Disruptor come out of nowhere and cast your ultimate in the middle of the fight. Result? The enemy team with their crucial heroes stuck in your ultimate and kinetic field combo doing next to nothing being silenced and taking huge damage with 0.25 sec intervals.

Disruptor’s Glimpse can be a game changer if used at the correct moment by targeting on a flanking carry or a hero who bought back and teleported to be in a fight. This spell is all about timing and if you cast it at the right time you may even be the man of the match

Earthshaker

Earth Shaker is one of those Dota 2 heroes that have huge impact over the game even at level one. Proper positioning of earth shaker allows him to get early kills with the help of spamming abilities or just right click damage of another hero. With earth shaker on the side the enemy mid hero has constant pressure of ganking and has to position himself in such a manner that he is away safe from potential ganks. With a proper positioned fissure ES can just disjoint the enemy hero from his lane making him unable to fall and face ultimate death. Support players can utilizing the roaming abilities of ES to position themselves for ganks and have fissure at the right moment can seal a kill easily for the team.

ES is also a good pick since he is able to provide chain stuns with constant spamming of his abilities and is not item dependant except for just a Blink Dagger to have good initiation and damage through his ultimate. Overall mana pool is low and since fissure is mostly a spamming ability so support players may opt for a soul ring or arcane boots depending on the situation.

Lion

Lion is literally a pain in the ass. Being able to harass enemy teams from the start Lion is a Dota 2 hero that can be a baby sitter for the team carry and at the same time harass the hell out of a lane. Lion also being an item independent hero has good disables and heavy burst damage. His spell Mana Drain is at many times neglected by players but it’s not a spell that has to be neglected.

Mana drain can dehydrate core enemy players that don’t have much mana pool making them ineffective in team fights and also providing lion with extra mana that he needs to spam his abilities and his high mana cost ultimate.

Lion can create nuisance in almost any lane and his abilities allow him to be a roaming support which can duo with another support and create deadly roaming combinations in almost any lane they tend to. Being item independent Lion in many ways have great impact on the overall game and at times can solely burst down enemy heroes with proper timing.

Tell us what you think with the list of the top support Dota 2 Heroes. Also tell what you would like to read next for your favorite MOBA game.

having score like 1:20:5 or leaving/being afk in game seems to increase drop chance a lot.
but thats purely my observation.

So Anil are you impling your winning record is lower than 50%.

Because your statement is a little hard to decipher

Well generally speaking, your drop rate is somewhat tied to your luck (random chance of item drops at end of game) and the amount of games played thus leveling (getting items when you level)

If you are expecting an answer out from pure theorycrafting (since many users love to do that as of late), I usually get great drops (rares, mythicals, legendary) when I play hard support heroes with a very high assist to kill ratio – A/K ratio lol?- (Bascially aiming for more assists and as little ‘accidental’ hero kills as possible; deaths doesn’t seem to be a factor from what I’ve observed).

dont you get an item each time you level? or d >
You do, but other than that (and match time) do not account for any additional luck.

Theory or no, according to the Dota 2 wiki there is absolutely nothing that states you will be more likely to gain any items for playing certain roles or with a better score. With the former; it would be unfair for those not chosing the particular role. For the latter, the game isn’t that “smart” to figure out whether you should be awarded for such actions.

Which is why I used the term, theorycrafting (aka personal observation) because it isn’t a proven fact and its based entirely on opinion (which everyone seems to be taking as facts as of late)

As for the 1st part of my post which states:

“Well generally speaking, your drop rate is somewhat tied to your luck (random chance of item drops at end of game) and the amount of games played thus leveling (getting items when you level)”

Now this isn’t theorycrafting, this is a fact. Due to the random nature of the the drop system, the only way you can have better/more items is to have more attempts at it (aka playing more games, more end game screeens, more attempts at getting an item which has the grade of your choice). It doesn’t matter what hero you play or the k/d/a you are having within those games, as long as you play matches and gain levels, you will get item drops.

The new heroes started their journey pretty underpowered, not even reaching 45% win rate in their opening days. Players getting acquainted with their skill set and some balance changes have finally made heroes playable in high level pubs and also made it possible to start discussing them, since it is unlikely they will be receiving anything but some minor number tweaks in the nearest future.

The Reach beta has concluded and the team is now working hard towards the Season 1 launch. Here we share some of the details on the upcoming Season, and what players can expect when they log in to play.

The new patch is wild, with all the positive and maybe some negative connotations this word implies. As such, we are trying to be extremely cautious when discussing it so that we don’t unnecessarily invoke some misguided disenchantment from the community.

62 new items are available for finding, not purchasing. You can now build your inventory through jungling and not spending your gold. Is this good? Bad? Who knows, it’s too early to tell.

The Reach Beta has been a valuable month for us at Elo. The feedback from our community has allowed us to make considerable progress in refining the key automated systems of the platform and we couldn’t possibly be more excited to see people begin to play in Season One.

This is going to be less of a stats recap and more of a farewell to a patch, which overstayed its welcome for at least a couple of months. Instead of going over the same heroes once more, we felt it is more appropriate to highlight some of the heroes which were outside of the meta at the tournament’s start, but nevertheless had a great impact in the later stages of MDL Chengdu.

Bounty runes, come back gold, ancient creeps, camps stacking, and more. The economy of Dota keeps growing and growing but how does that affect supports and cores?

We’ve done a lot of testing with our current systems in the Reach league and are finally confident in opening it up to more users. Divine level players may now participate in Reach, effective immediately.

The first major tournament of the season is finally happening. Get up to date with all the teams participating, their odds of winning it all, and more!

Patch 7.22 is certainly overstaying its welcome and it clearly shows in the current professional tournaments. There are almost no new meta developments and for the most part the Summit 11 concentrated on the same exact heroes as the tournaments prior.

Captains and drafters are some of the most revered pros in the scene. The genius drafting strategies and counter picks can win the game before the first bounty runes spawn. Here are some draft ideas to try out for your next battle cup tournament.

Reach had an exciting and informative first week of games, with over 1000 matches played, and over 1200 unique players participating. Here’s the rundown on week 1, and what’s coming down the pipeline.

The idea of a tanky frontline hero in the offlane has been repeated over and over again for the last several months. It makes sense on the professional scene, while working incredibly well in pubs. Building survivability items and allowing yourself to be initiated on has become the go to strategy for a lot of teams and it is unlikely to change until after the new patch is released.

MMR may just be a number but a higher number is superior. Read this article to learn a few tips and tricks on growing your MMR number.

The current meta has been established for a long time but teams still must find their slight edge. At ESL One Hamburg 2019, we saw more of what we’ve been seeing for a few months now.

Kunkka dota 2 1 hit rampage boots

Kunkka dota 2 1 hit rampage boots

Kunkka’s Tidebringer cleaves in a 500/600 AOE while Battlefury cleaves in 280 AOE. Does this mean that from a distance of 0 to a distance of 280 in front of Kunkka he’ll have the Battlefury cleave damage added while from 281 distance to 500/600 he won’t have the Battlefury cleave damage?

Sorry if this question is confusing – I’m just wondering if Battlefury damage enhances all of Kunkka’s Tidebringer’s 500-600 AOE damage, or just a small circular area within the Tidebringer’s circular area directly in front of Kunkka, so that only creeps within a 280 AOE in front of Kunkka will take extra BF damage while creeps farther away only get Tidebringer damage. Thanks.

You can find out things like that easily by yourself. Just create a local lobby with cheats and spawn some bots to test stuff out:

As you can see, woody36 is right. First you hit your target, then the BF cleave is applied to all targets within 280 range and then the Tidebringer cleave is applied to all targets within 600 range.

Wait, but then why would you get battlefury? Why not just go straight for Daedalus so you can increase both close and far distance cleave damage?

The only way to really play Kunkka is by having 4 Battle Fury, one Daedalus and well, boots. Always pick him when you have Magnus on your team and demand him to buff you all the time. There you go. Real way to play Kunkka. Kunkka dota 2 1 hit rampage boots You can also have Sven with Aghs if you want.

Anyway, on a serious note, Kunkka is such a weird hero imo. His spells are mostly skillshots for nuking, but then you have his Tidebringer. It doesn’t synergy with anything of his kit.

I mean, feel free to read some guides on Kunkka or play him with different item builds and see for yourself.!Attacker is a famous Kunkka player (and currently #80 on the Europe leaderboard, 6,700k MMR) and he often builds (or used to built, judging from his recent games) Battlefury into Blink Daedalus:

I am not sure of the exact reason, but BF is reliable cleave (tidebringer has cd after all), damage and regen combined in one item and it increases your farmrate. Most creeps you hit will always be very close to your hero, so the permanent extra cleave is nice.

Personally, it depends on role.

If you intend to farm at all, you want the BF on Kunka. Kunkka dota 2 1 hit rampage boots

Afterwards, it’s a tossup between an initiation item like blink or SB/SE, or going straight for the crit-fishing Daedalus.

Afterwards, s you either build brawler (for serious gameplay) with str items, counter actives etc.

You have fun and build moar daedalus.

Shadowblade/SilverEdge up, swing once.

XBOCT

Alexander “XBOCT” Dashkevich (pronounced “HVOST”) is an Ukrainian professional Dota 2 player currently the coach of Natus Vincere . He became famous when he played in the team Natus Vincere.

Professional Career [ edit ]

Planet-X [ edit ]

XBOCT was in Planet-X’s DotA team in 2009 along with the likes of Axypa, Amsi, Jerry and Chief. [1] However, a loss to DTS [2] has shattered the team as the team had to take in 2 replacements. After their disappointing performance in following tournaments, the team went into inactivity and parted ways.

Natus Vincere [ edit ]

XBOCT returned to DotA by joining Natus Vincere’s newly formed DotA team in 2010, [3] achieving a surprise result through beating the ten top Ukrainian team DTS-Gaming in a showmatch.

Near the end of 2010, Na`Vi was joined by Artstyle and Dendi, [4] which promptly boosted them to the top of the DotA scene. Na`Vi first participated in ASUS Open Winter, which they only achieved 3rd place due to a loss to Moscow Five in the final.

After also falling to Moscow Five in OSPL Spring, Na`Vi won their first gold in ES-Area’s championship, and proceeded to win the next few ASUS tournaments. Despite their change in roster prior to The International, Na`Vi went undefeated in the group stages and defeated EHOME 3-1 in the finals. XBOCT had to play Mirana in almost every game in the said tournament. Na`Vi continued their good form into Electronic Sports World Cup 2011, where they also defeated EHOME in the finals and made one of the most unexpected comebacks of the year against Monkey in the Semi-finals. However, their trip to the World DotA Championship in China did not fare well, as they were knocked out by DK in the quarter-finals. They bounced back to place 2nd in Dota 2 Star Championship, losing in the finals to Russian mix The Retry.

After an initial dip in performance, Na`Vi eventually picked up their pace in February 2012, winning both The Premier League and The Defense in the space of a few days.

The Top 10 Dota 2 Caster Calls

Though they aren’t on the front lines of competition, casters are an invaluable part of it. They explain storylines, give valuable context and occasional game knowledge and most of all, underline the emotion of the most powerful moments in Dota history.

10. It’s a Disasta!

Affectionately dubbed the “six million dollar Echo Slam,” Universe’s game-winning ulti secured TI5 — and $6,634,661 — for EG in a truly epic slam dunk of an Aegis steal.

Almost as famous as the actual play is Tobiwan’s extremely Australian pronouncement of CDEC’s situation.

9. No one has ever done that in the history of Dota!

Before they were known as Alliance, the No Tidehunter roster were already writing their names in the history books with a revolutionary Roshan bait at DreamHack Winter 2012.

Down a game in the best-of-three, NT took an early lead by faking a Level 1 Roshan. They left Admiralbulldog as a sacrificial lamb, then the Swedish soon-to-be legends drew EG into an ambush that netted them two kills and a strong lead.

In case anyone at home didn’t realize amazing this gambit was, Tobiwan made it exactly clear with a caster call that’s almost as famous as the Roshan bait itself.

8. Liqu >

Though neither team would go on to win TI3, the lower bracket slugfest between Team Liquid and LGD Gaming was a slugfest for the ages.

While TL led LGD by almost double the kills by the time the game ended, the final team fight over LGD’s Ancient was certifiably insane and the mania certainly infected the casters as they described the blow by blow action.

7. The whole kit and kaboodle

Tobiwan is one of the most popular casters in Dota and for good reason. Not only is the Australian’s bombastic excitement infectious, but he has a talent for describing plays with turns of phrase straight out of Little House on the Story. Or whatever Australian equivalent exists.

6. Ah Fu! You thief in the night!

Another case of Tobiwan’s Australian accent and folksy sayings creating a legendary moment, there were plenty of ways he could have described LFY’s Ah Fu stealing VP’s Roshan at TI7.

However, none of them would have been as funny as: “Ah Fu! You thief in the night!”

5. 200 minutes

The bout between Cloud9 and SFZ in Star Series Season 12 in 2013 remains the longest pro game in history at 3 hours, 20 minutes and 34 seconds. It was certainly more than ODPixel and Purge bargained for when they agreed to cast the event.

However, the duo took it in good stride despite getting discernibly haggard as the battle ground on… and on. and on. Eventually, OD enlisted the aid of a soundboard to play epic music to raise the energy whenever a team fight broke out.

But the excitement was real when Qwis Ta rushed C9’s Ancient at just over 200 minutes in and brought the ordeal to a close.

4. The Play

A call as legendary as the play it accompanies, one referred to solely as “The Play,” casters LD and Luminous did an excellent job breaking down one of the defining moments in all of Dota. Dota 2 international 2013 top 10 plays

While Na`Vi only won Game 2 of the TI 2 Grand Final against Invictus Gaming, the wombo combo of Black Hole, Blade Fury and Dendi’s stolen Ravage is the true legacy of the tournament in no small part thanks to the casters’ shocked excitement.

Not to mention Dendi jumping out of his seat and yelling like he’d just won his second TI.

3. Ding Ding Ding Motherfucker

Some would say dirty humor is cheap comedy. However, sometimes a perfectly placed cuss can elevate a moment into the realm of legend. Just take the TI6 match between Alliance and Evil Geniuses where LD perfectly punctuated EGM’s last second destruction of EG’s ancient in just seven syllables.

2. WAOW

How does one condense all the action, all the drama, all the sheer emotion of Puck dodging an auto attack in a single weirdly pronounced exclamation of excitement? Just ask LD.

1. TI 3 Finish

The International 2013 was a special tournament. Not only was it the first TI with a crowdfunded prize pool, it was also the crowning achievement of Alliance’s freshman year in Dota. Dota 2 international 2013 top 10 plays The legendary roster of Loda, s4, AdmiralBulldog, EGM and Akke had already won the DreamHack Invitational 2013 and Season 6 of the StarLadder StarSeries Season 6.

After going undefeated in the group stage and dropping only one game in the upper bracket of TI3, the young guns of Alliance faced off against TI 1 champions Na`Vi in a bitter, five-game match in the Grand Final.

It was a grueling epic, and the casters were at their best for every twist and turn right up until the bitter end. Just listen to the emotion as they crown the Kings of the North champions.

Korean Dota 2 team imports European talent

A Korean Dota 2 team has reversed the usual course of Western teams importing Korean talent by bringing in a player from Europe to fill out its roster

A Korean Dota 2 team has reversed the usual course of Western teams importing Korean talent by bringing in a player from Europe to fill out its roster.

One of the premier Dota 2 teams in Korea, MVP Hot6ix, recently shuffled its roster with sister team MVP Phoenix. Two former Phoenix players, Lee “Forever” Sang-don and Lee “Heen” Seung-gon, were transferred to the Hot6ix team as Phoenix completed a revamp of its roster.

As part of that revamp, MVP Phoenix has already reached outside of national boundaries by recruiting Australian player Damien “kphoenii” Chok, who had previously played for top Oceanic team Can’t Say Wips. Now, the Hot6ix team has followed Phoenix’s lead and gone one step further, looking all the way to Finland.

The team announced today that it had acquired Jesse “Jarax” Vainikka. Dota 2 4 anchors roster of california Prior to joining MVP Hot6ix, Vainikka had stints with 4 Anchors + Sea Captain and, most recently, Team Tinker. After having proven himself on the biggest stages of his career with 4 Anchors, the move to Team Tinker brought only more exposure to the Finnish player.

His journey into the Korean Dota 2 scene isn’t unheard of. Zephyr, a team primarily made up of American players, has for some time been among the top Dota 2 squads in Korea. Dota 2 4 anchors roster of california Led by popular players William “Blitz” Lee and Kevin “Purge” Godec, Zephyr even managed a championship run in the first season of the Korean Dota 2 League.

But while other international players have previously made the journey and still today play in Korea, it’s interesting to see one of the top Korean teams reaching to the West given how common it is to see Koreans moving in the opposite direction in most games.

The dominance of Korean players in StarCraft is well known, and the Korean infrastructure for professional League of Legends teams and players has built up to such a degree that Korean imports are a common sight among the top League of Legends competitions in North America, Europe, Brazil, China, and just about anywhere that features high-level League play.

But while the professional gaming scene in Korea has embraced League of Legends as it did StarCraft before, Dota 2 hasn’t seen quite the same reception or popularity. Without the benefit of the structure that has produced top talents in Brood War and League, Korean Dota 2 players and teams have struggled mightily to make any sort of impact internationally.

Outside of Korea, the move continues the recent trend of upheaval for Team Tinker. Originally formed in August of last year with high expectations, the squad has never quite managed to live up to potential. The loss of both Vainikka and Zheng “PatSoul” Yukai, who departed to join Canadian team Void Boys, has dropped the active Team Tinker roster down to just three players.
