OG Makes History as Winners of ‘Dota 2’ The International 2019

OG is now officially the first-ever back-to-back winners of Dota 2’s yearly world championships, The International (TI), taking home a whopping $15.6 million USD, which accounts for 45.5 percent of the total $34.2 million USD TI9 prize pool.

Dota 2 TI, now in its ninth year, is one of the most watched global esports tournaments and, via their developer Valve’s in-game crowdfunding program, awards the largest single-event prize pool for the last seven years. Each year, Valve’s base developer contribution to TI’s prize pool maintains at $1.6 million USD since it started in 2011, making the Dota 2 player base the sole reason for its dominating competition reward — the epitome of a community celebrated game.

Just a few hours ago, OG (consisting ana, Topson, Ceb, JerAx and team captain, N0tail), defeated Team Liquid (consisting Miracle-, w33, MinD_ContRol, GH and team captain KuroKy), 3-1 in a Best of 5 Grand Finals, not only making them the first two-time TI champions, but also the first to hold up the Aegis of the Immortal back-to-back.

The final game saw OG pick Io (ana), Gyrocopter (Topson), Timbersaw (Ceb), Tiny (JerAx) and Abaddon (N0tail), against a Team Liquid draft of Bristleback (Miracle-), Windranger (w33), Omniknight (MinD_ContRol), Earth Spirit (GH) and Chen (KuroKy).

Perhaps the biggest mistake of Team Liquid in game four was not banning Io, which has been dominating this year’s championship with a final win:lose ratio of 12:4 — “you can’t spell champion without IO!” And it didn’t make it any easier that the support-intended hero was played as a carry by OG’s position one, ana. In the end, the champion-deciding fountain-diving match lasted only 24.45 minutes, with the obvious MVP, Topson, somewhat ironically playing the position two Gyrocopter — the downfall of Alliance. Topson, a Finnish professional Dota 2 player who only recently entered the Dota 2 competitive scene, made serious headlines last year at TI8 with his versatility and dominance. He excels at unconventional heroes like Zeus and Pugna, and is constantly capable of out-of-the-box strategies like his Diffuser Gyrocopter in said last match of TI9, which heavily handicapped Team Liquid’s Omniknight and Bristleback.

In 2018, OG became the first team to win TI from an open qualifier. This 2019, they dominated from the start, finishing first in their Group Stage, and maintaining 100% Upper Bracket wins at the Main Event. “They are so far ahead of any other team because of the versatility of their playstyle,” said one of the commentators at TI9.

Returning to the winner’s spotlight, an emotional OG Team Captain, N0tail, says: “It’s too hard to believe and it’s too good to be true but it feels good all the same. Thank you everyone for making this possible and I’m an animal apparently!”

Dota 2 FPS issues: Here’s how to fix them

Dota 2 is a great game, but sometimes the gaming experience is affected by various issues. In this article, we’re going to focus on FPS rate issues and list a series of quick workarounds that you can use to fix them and improve Dota 2’s performance.

The following solutions are suitable for micro stutters, low FPS issues, and graphical glitches.

How do I fix common Dota 2 FPS issues

1. Fix Dota 2 capped FPS

1. Disable the Xbox app in Windows. It may cap the FPS to 60 on Windows 10:

1. Type PowerShell > Run as an Admin
2. Run the command Get-AppxPackage | Select Name, PackageFullname to display all the apps installed on your machine
3. Locate the two Xbox packages: Microsoft. XboxLIVEGames and Microsoft. XboxApp
4. Copy the PackageFullname of both packages
5. Type Remove-AppXPackage and add the PackageFullname of the first app > hit Enter > do the same for the second app
6. Reboot and the Xbox integration will be history.

2. Set fps_max in the console to 120
3. Turn off the VSync
4. Check your autoexec / config for mat_vsync 1, change the value to 0.
5. Disable Vsync completely from your GPU driver panel, it overrides the game settings.

2. Fix Dota 2 micro stutters

1. Exclude the Steam folder from Windows Defender:

1.1. Go to Settings > select Update & security > Windows Defender

1.2. Under Exclusions > select Add an exclusion > click the Add button > go to the process you want to exclude > select Exclude this file.

2. Go to Steam settings > Account > select NONE beta participation to disable Steam Beta participation.
3. If the Workshop update is stuck on downloading pages of Steam, you need to reinstall Steam.
5. Check the Task manager and disable any processes you don’t need.
6. Check for malware.

3. Fix Dota 2 low FPS after hitting ALT-TAB

1. Set engine_no_focus_sleep 0 to your autoexec / console.
2. Switch to borderless windowed to reduce FPS on slower PCs.

4. Fix Dota 2 won’t start from Steam

1. Go to (SteamSteamAppscommondota 2 betagamebinwin64win32 ) > run dota2.exe
2. The game will start, but won’t establish any connection to the Steam network.
3. Change all the video settings to lowest and set windowed mode.
4. Relaunch Dota 2 from Steam client > adjust settings back to normal.

5. Fix Dota 2 crashes, texture issues and glitches

1. Verify Dota 2’s game cache integrity
2. Switch to single display mode if necessary > go to Dota 2’s config file (SteamSteamAppscommondota 2 betagamedotacfg) > delete video. txt
3. Disable the nod3d9ex command
4. Make sure you’re running both Dota 2 and Steam as administrator
5. Disable VSync
6. Check and update your network driver
7. Remove any enhancement software
8. If you use a multiple graphics card configuration, make sure you’re running Dota 2 on your more powerful GPU.

6. Fix Dota 2 low FPS

1. Don’t forget to restart Dota 2 after each match to reset game memory.
2. Disable unnecessary background processes, so that Steam and Dota2 can better access your computer’s resources.
3. If you use a high-end Nvidia GPU, open NVIDIA Control panel > go to the Manage 3D Settings page > add Dota 2 as a program in the list.
4. If you use an AMD CPU, turn off Turbo Core Control. Download AMD OverDrive > go to the Clock/Voltage tab > untick Enable Core Control. Do this manually after each restart of PC.
5. On low-end PCs, turn off the Adobe Flash Player process running in the background.
6. Turn off Steam Overlay
7. Run the game in true fullscreen mode on Steam.
8. Set the lowest graphics settings possible.
9. Lower your resolution as a temporary solution.
10. Open the video. txt folder (…SteamAppscommondota 2 betagamedotacfg). Change all the settings below setting. nowindowborder to 0 (zero) to improve the performance for the cost of visual quality. Don’t forget to create a backup file before you do this.
11. Rollback the previous GPU drivers.
12. Reinstall your GPU drivers or update them.
13. Reinstall Dota 2. Uncheck all the DLC you’ve downloaded before reinstalling the game.
14. Download and install CCleaner. This tool checks your registry, cleans unused files and optimizes your PC.

The Overwatch League Season Two Grand Finals were a spectacle to behold.

The event featured a live performance from world-class DJ Zedd, a massive venue at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, a prize pool of US$1,100,000 and two of the best teams the world has to offer. It was the longest match win streak versus the longest map win streak, the Season Two MVP versus the Rookie of the Year.

This match had everything needed to create an epic Overwatch experience, and the San Francisco Shock and the Vancouver Titans did not disappoint.

Lijiang Tower

Map one was Lijiang Tower. Vancouver had, thus far, taken every first map in the postseason.

Jay “Sinatraa” Won’s signature Doomfist and Hyo-bin “Choihyobin” Choi’s Sigma had other ideas for the Titans. Choihyobin’s clutch Accretions and Sinatraa’s fantastic pick-making made easy work of Point A for the Shock. Point B was a closer contest, with Vancouver taking 97% of the second point, courtesy of Hyojong “Haksal” Kim and Min-soo “Seominsoo” Seo’s DPS handiwork. However, Sinatraa and his team came back with a vengeance, securing Point B with a clean 100% hold to give the Shock an early 1-0 lead.

Eichenwalde

Eichenwalde would prove to be drastically different and far less of a one-sided affair.

The Shock and Titans finished the first round with a 2:49 and 2:47 timer respectively, with the Titans set to attack first in overtime. Minho “Architect” Park’s dominant Bastion play would prove to only narrowly be superior to Seominsoo’s Reaper, giving the Shock a 2-0 lead going into map three.

Temple of Anubis

The Titans kicked off Temple of Anubis with a lightning-fast Point A capture and looked deadset on snowballing into the second point.

However, thanks to some heroics from Grant “Moth” Espe’s Lucio, the Shock managed to hold off the Titans until the 1:34 mark. The Shock’s offense was a bit shaky to start, but come overtime on Point A, they managed to find the breakthrough they needed to not only capture Point A but also roll through Vancouver’s Point B defense for a blistering 2:12 take.

Overtime was decided by some play-making Reaper action from San Francisco’s Nam-joo “Striker” Kwon, who carved a path right through the defense to secure an easy 3-0 lead for the Shock.

Watchpoint: Gibraltar

The fourth and, surprisingly, final map was Watchpoint: Gibraltar where San Francisco swapped in their dynamic DPS duo of Architect and Dong-Jun “Rascal” Kim for what would be an epic finale to a star-studded series. The Shock’s combination of Bastion and Mei proved far too much for the Titans’ defense, with Gibraltar falling to San Francisco with 1:52 left in the bank.

For defense, the Shock switched their Mei out for Rascal’s signature Pharah, which helped them keep Point A on lockdown for several minutes before the Titans eventually broke through. Vancouver made an excellent push through Point B and nearly made it all the way through the final Point before Architect’s Bastion and Choihyobin’s Sigma set up shop on the point to deny the Titans a shot at redemption and to claim their place as the Overwatch League Champions.

The match had several notable players, from the obvious highlights in Season MVP Sinatraa and Rookie of the Year Haksal, to the silent anchors like Moth and Jooseok “Twilight” Lee. However, none proved more worthy of series MVP than San Francisco’s Sigma specialist Choihyobin. His exceptional play-making and pinpoint accuracy on the hero earned him not only applause from the fans, but the respect of his fellow competitors as well.

The San Francisco Shock have become the Overwatch League’s Grand Champions, and their Season MVP Sinatraa summed up this match best:

Dendi

Danil “Dendi” Ishutin (born December 30, 1989) is a Ukrainian professional Dota 2 and former DotA player. Well known for his solo mid skills, he is regarded as one of the most creative players in the scene today, and is renowned for his unorthodox play style and unconventional skill and item builds. After having played for Natus Vincere for the entirety of his professional Dota 2 career, he finally departed the active roster for the first time in September 2018. He currently plays for The Pango.

Biography [ edit ]

Born in Lviv, Ukraine, Dendi got an early start with competitive gaming in net cafes when his elder brother married, moved out and took the family’s PC with him. Dabbling with Counter-Strike first, he soon found Warcraft 3 where he played in local tournaments and built a love for the competition and a thirst to be the best. Though he was quite successful in Warcraft 3 and even won a few local championships in Lviv, he knew he had found his calling when he stumbled upon DotA. He picked up the game quickly and played it almost exclusively over the next few months.

Beginning with learning only supports, he practiced heavily and was quickly vouched to the IHCS1 league and soon created his own team for tournaments in Lviv. After he led his team to a championship in Kiev, he was drafted by a team called “Wolker. Gaming” and began his professional career at 17.

DotA [ edit ]

Dendi started playing professionally with WG in 2006. [1] He was a part of the Ukrainian squad that finished third in MYM Prime Nations the same year. Only a few months later WG made it to the grand final of one of the most prestigious tournaments at the time; MYM Prime Defending. [2] When Kingsurf. international merged with WG the next year he became a full-time member of Ks. int. [1] In late 2008 he joined DTS, only to return to Ks. int in March 2009. [3] Three months later though, Dendi returned to DTS. [4] The team would end up finishing 2nd at ESWC 2010. At the end of 2010, Dendi and DTS finished 3rd at the prestigious WDC 2010. [5] Dendi joined Natus Vincere at the end of 2010. [6]

Dota 2 [ edit ]

Dendi started his Dota 2 career with Na’Vi, who quickly established themselves as one of the best teams in the world by winning The International 2011. Na’Vi continued to dominate and won many tournaments in the years 2011, 2012 and 2013. Dendi was the center of Na’Vi’s consistent stable and skilled rosters, with his performance greatly contributing to their success.

The Natus Vincere Dota 2 team achieved significant success with Dendi as their midlaner during the first few years of the game; they finished as the runners-up for both The International 2012 and The International 2013, losing out to Invictus Gaming and Alliance, respectively. 2013 would mark the last year of Na’Vi and Dendi’s dominance in the Dota 2 scene, as they only recorded two LAN victories since January 2014. The International 2014 saw Na’Vi and Dendi finishing the tournament outside of the top 2 for the first time and the following two Internationals, TI 5 and TI 6, they would finish in last place. The results would deteriorate further, as they would fail to even qualify for The International 2017, they failed to advance out of the group stage of the regional qualifiers. This marked the first year of The International tournaments without Dendi attending as a player. The 2017/18 season started of promising for Dendi and Na’Vi, who dominated the CIS scene in the early months, crowning their improving results with their second LAN victory since 2014. However, the second half of the season saw the roster break apart and finally the team would fail to even reach the regional qualifiers for The International 2018, after losing in the open qualifier.

Four years of roster instability and poor results finally took their toll on the reputation of the Na’Vi organization and on Dendi’s status as a legendary player and a top tier midlaner. After 8 years playing mid on Na’Vi, Dendi was finally removed from the active roster in September 2018. However, Dendi vowed to continue playing professionally. After a brief stint on Tigers, Dendi joined The Pango.

A mahou shoujo show, a genre that might interest some, and chase off pretty much everyone else. KKJ might not give us any new spins in this highly niche genre, we can’t help but love it anyway?

Story
KKJ doesn’t exactly prov > each week (or should I say each episode) Jeanne seals another artwork, normally helping non-returning characters that have problems most likely due to the demons. The second half has the plot picking up, with new (and returning) antagonists as well as development of the romance between the two main characters. It’s fairly standard, but interesting enough if you don’t mind standard to begin with.

Animation
Unfortunately, the infamous reused transformation scene is used in KKJ, and is quite frankly an annoyance to watch after the first time. Animation is also reused a lot when it comes to the demon sealing. The animation is bright and colorful, and this being based off a manga by Tanemura Arina of course means awesome character designs, at least for the thieves’ costumes. An irritating number of still screens are also often used in KKJ, detracting enjoyment at times, simply because nobody likes to stare at a still screen when something else could be done. Anyhow, if you’re looking for amazing animation, look no further, because it certainly isn’t here.

Sound
Nothing too special can be found from sound either. The opening and endings are fairly catchy, although perhaps a more slow song would have been more fitting for the first ending. Background music is quite forgettable, but at least there’s nothing that ruins the scenes, proving that the BGM does its job. Voice acting is fairly satisfying, with Maron’s VA doing an excellent job showing her strength, will and loneliness. Fin Fish’s VA, while befitting her role, is fairly annoying to listen to however, probably due to the extremely high pitch.

Character
KKJ’s characters would have to be its strongest point. Most of the characters develop throughout the series, especially the leads. Maron is a seemingly happy person, but behind it all is one who suffers from extreme loneliness. Chiaki is a somewhat trouble male who has a reluctance in engaging in any serious romantic relationship with another girl. The developing romantic relationship between her and Chiaki is pretty much the highlight of the show for the romance lovers, but it’s quite predictable from the start how it would all turn out. There’s more to Miyako then what appears at first, with this and the history behind some of the antagonists, make up for a fairly interesting cast of characters.

Did I like it?
If you’re wondering whether I actually enjoyed Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, I didn’t really. I’m a fan of the manga and thought the drama especially portrayed in it was brilliant. I was disappointed when I saw the anime had taken the mahou shoujo approach, with long and tedious transformation scenes, and pointless clashes between Jeanne and the police. I also hate monster of the week setups, as they prove to be far too boring and repetitive.

Overall
Overall, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne is your everyday mahou shoujo. Complete with transformation scenes, flashy (and unrealistic) action, and a bit of romance here and there. Take that with some of the drama and twists presented in the show, an interesting cast of characters, and we have an anime the mahou shoujo lovers could waste their lives on for a while.
