So, I’m trying to increase my in-game resolution (I’m currently playing on my laptop with 1366×768 screen). I wonder if there is a way to play this game in FHD so I tried to use Steam launch options and yes, I made it into FHD (I tried in fullscreen mode). But here’s the problem.. When I enter the game (every time I use the launch options with these options), the game will lag and unplayable and the main problem is my screen couldn’t handle the screen size (If you’re wondering how. It’s like cropped in-game screen, like the game itself is 1920×1080 but my screen won’t load it, easily say it zoomed in the top left part of the screen and display it in 1366×768)

So, is there anyway to play this game in non-native screen resolution?
I’ve read on internet, it said I could try using Window Registry editor to change my screen default screen resolution to non-native screen resolution which may cause a problem to the system due to low-performance (It may not occure but it will decrease the system performance)
As I don’t want to set this resolution as my default, I didn’t try this method.

GESC Indonesia Dota 2 Minor schedule, format and teams

Everything you need to know to tune in for the first-ever Indonesian Dota 2 tournament.

After a few bumps in the road, GESC’s first Dota Pro Circuit event has finally arrived, taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia. Dota 2 indonesia tournament of roses Taking place in massive city in the epicenter of a major Dota 2 region, the tickets for the event have sold out, meaning fans from across Southeast Asia have prepped to catch the action.

The teams are no less prepared. GESC Indonesia is entered as a Dota Pro Circuit Minor, meaning $300,000 is on the line, along with 300 Qualifying Points. With CIS team Virtus. Pro already guaranteed for The International, seven more teams need to fight their way onto the road to TI8.

Possibly the most intimidating points-wise is VGJ. Thunder, a Chinese squad that most recently fell to VP in the Bucharest Major — but took a hefty second-place finish. While they historically haven’t done too well at events, their GESC Indonesia qualifier and Bucharest wins with recently-acquired Leong “ddc” Fat-meng means they may have a fighting chance here in Southeast Asia. Dota 2 indonesia tournament of roses

How did Virtus. Pro qualify for The International 8 three months ahead of invites?

Evil Geniuses, then, will have a chance to redeem themselves, as they fell to VGJ. T in the finals of Galaxy Battles, the Manila-based ex-Major in February. To make matters worse, with VGJ. T’s Bucharest achievement, the Chinese squad pushed the North American favorites out of the top eight Pro Circuit rankings, where they sit a mere 15 points under SEA’s Mineski.

In addition, we’ll be seeing some new faces at this event. The European qualifier spot was taken by The Final Tribe, comprised of Swedish players including some Alliance alums. The squad came second in the Dota 2 Asian Championship only to the legendary OG Dota, but they beat out European dark horse Team Kinguin on their way to this Indonesian Minor.

GESC also opened up the doors to some local squads to bring in Indonesian pride by having their own Indonesia Qualifier, won by Rex Regum Qeon. None of the teams were particularly well-known internationally, but like the SEA and SA qualifiers of the DPC, this may open up the doors to more esports opportunities in the region.

With squads old and new coming in for the competition, this will certainly spice up the Dota Pro Circuit’s fare. Be sure not to miss the action with our schedule below.

Format

Prizes: The prize pool will be $300,00 USD with 300 Qualifying Points at stake, in proportion to the cash prize. Point distribution and cash prizes for teams that earn points will be as follows:

  • 1st Place — 150 Qualifying Points/player; $110,000 team prize
  • 2nd Place — 90 Qualifying Points/player; $65,000 team prize
  • 3rd/4th Places (both Semifinals losers) — 30 Points/Player; $35,000 team prize

Competition Format: This event’s group stages will be in an altered “GSL” format, intended to be a double-elimination format. All teams will play in the Playoffs.

  1. Each team in the group of four will play another team in a best-of-one.
  2. The winners of this initial match play each other in the Upper Bracket Finals for placement in the Playoffs Semifinals.
  3. The losers of the initial match meet for Lower Bracket Match 1.
  4. The losers of the Upper Bracket Finals meets the winners of the Lower Bracket Match 1 for Match 2, for placement into the Playoffs Quarterfinals.
  5. The losers of Match 2 meet and play for a best-of-one seeding in the Playoffs Round-of-Eight match.
  6. The Playoffs are played as a single-elimination bracket, with Round-of-Eight being best-of-one and the rest being best-of-three, including Finals.

The Sunday matches will be the most heated, as these include both the Semifinals and Finals rounds.

How to watch Dota 2’s The International, the biggest esports event of the year

Nearly $25 million is on the line at this year’s tournament.

Even though Fortnite streams and Overwatch leagues seem to be grabbing all the headlines these days, the great grandparent of modern esports competitions, The International, is still the biggest esports event of the year. Since 2011, the world’s biggest Dota 2 tournament has drawn huge audiences. One of the biggest reasons: It has, by far, the biggest prize pool of any esports tournament, currently sitting at roughly $24.5 million — and that sum is likely to go up before the main event begins Monday, Aug. 20.

The International starts with a prize pool of $1.6 million, but Valve offers a Battle Pass for $10 to all players that lets them earn rewards by playing while the competition is going on. Players can earn things like new character skins, new in-game announcer voices, item skins and more. Twenty-five percent of the cost of each Battle Pass is then added to the prize pool over the course of the event. As it stands now, the winning team would take home over $10 million.

The International has already gone through several early rounds, but next week we move into the main event, which runs from August 20 to Friday, August 25.

Fortnite didn’t invent the battle pass, after all.

What is Dota 2?

For those who are unfamiliar with the game, Dota 2 is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game where two teams of five players square off on a large map, each with a home base (called an Ancient). The two teams go to battle to try to ultimately destroy the other team’s Ancient and win the game.

Though it might sound easy, it’s an extremely complex game that’s difficult to learn and extremely hard to master. There are more than 100 heroes to choose from, each with a suite of unique special abilities. As you play, you earn gold you can use to buy items over the course of the game that will add to your stats and abilities. Knowing which items to buy and combine to maximize your hero’s powers takes time to learn, and that’s before you even talk about the strategy of controlling battle lanes, how to engage in battles with your specific hero against different heroes and how to work with a team to control the playing field and finally destroy your opponents’ Ancient.

With all that said, when a team knows what it’s doing, a match can turn on a dime making a tournament between pro teams especially exciting. And since The International is the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year, there’s a good chance you’ll be watching the best of the best.

How to watch the International

There are a few different ways to get in on the action. You can watch live through Steam Broadcasting, get on Twitch (no login required) or go to a place near where you live that hosts Pubstomp events. But the best way to watch, especially if you already play the game, is to watch from within the Dota 2 client itself.

By watching from within the game, you can change cameras at will, follow specific players if you have favorites, and you can listen to a multicast in English, Chinese or Russian that offers up highlights of matches as they’re being played.

Or, if you happen to be lucky enough to find yourself in the possession of a ticket to the in-person event, The International will be held at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. V1lat stream dota 2 international 2016

Every game starts off slowly, but once it gets going it can get crazy.

The International 2016: How, when and where to stream the ‘Dota 2’ world championships

While much of the world has its eyes on Rio and the 2016 Olympic games, another high-stakes competition is wrapping up in Seattle Friday and Saturday.

This contest also features representatives from all over the world. Nobody goes home with medals, but the winning team does split nearly $9 million in prize money.

It’s The International — the world championship tournament for the video game, “Dota 2.”

That’s right: esports are big enough business that professional video game players are competing for a slice of a $20 million prize. Even ESPN is getting involved. The sports network is carrying the tournament exclusively among cable providers.

Tickets to the actual event at Key Arena in Seattle have long since been sold out, but there are plenty of ways to stream the action online.

The easiest way to watch is probably through the “Dota 2” channel on Twitch. Fortunately, there’s no subscription required. It’s also streamable on YouTube. (We’ve embedded a live feed at the bottom of this post.)

ESPN is also streaming matches through its web client — you won’t be able to catch the “Dota 2” championships on TV. And in order to watch the final matches unfold on ESPN’s servers, you’ll need to punch in your subscription information.

For those feeling particularly adventurous, the game has enabled VR spectatorship through Steam. Polygon’s Ben Kuchera has a guide on how to download the patch to do so with a few of his impressions.

So, what’s “Dota 2?” In the simplest sense, it’s a video game where players try strive to destroy an opponent’s home base. Players choose one of about a hundred playable heroes to either attack or support others on the field until they’re victorious.

If you’ve ever played a “Diablo” game, it’s much like that only faster and with more human enemies gunning you down.

There’s a bit more to it than that, which this YouTube video does a decent job of explaining. Fort those interested in trying the game out and playing with other people online, Polygon’s Arthur Gies has a great guide for that.

It’s also completely free to play, with certain downloadable content and cosmetic items available for a fee. “Dota 2” is exclusively available on Steam.

This is who’s still in the running for the $9 million jackpot and the rounds they’re playing:

A Geologist’s Gu >

Why does the terrain on the Dota 2 battlefield look the way it does? In this article, we propose several hypotheses for geologic processes that have sculpted Dota 2’s map.

My introductory geology textbook always featured photos of real-life locations alongside sketches of “what a geologist sees.” With this in mind, I took a quick glance at the map and drew a sketch (Fig. 1) to get us started. Later, we’ll discuss various geologic explanations for the landscape of the Dota terrain.

Screenshot of the game map. Figure 1: What a geologist sees in the Dota 2 map.

Regional Scale Processes

There’s obviously a hot spot (Fig. 2) under the Dire base. All that lava and geothermal heat has to come from somewhere, and you can get a glimpse of it when Dire’s Ancient explodes. Since Dire doesn’t have a big conical volcano as part of its base, we can assume the lava is probably just issuing from various volcanic vents. The rocks are pretty dark in color, so we can assume they are rich in iron and magnesium minerals, aka “Mafic” (Magnesium-Ferric) rocks. Furthermore, thin, low viscosity lava tends to issue from vents that don’t have cones around them, and low viscosity is often associated with basaltic melts, which harden into the dark rock basalt. Mystery solved.

(Screenshot by Esports Edition.) Figure 2: A diagram of a hot spot.

On the Radiant side, the rock type is a little more difficult to determine. If you show a geologist a buff colored rock and ask them what rock it is, they will likely let out an exasperated sigh. There’s no shortage of rocks that are tan or buff-colored. Most likely, the rocks on the Radiant side are sedimentary of some sort. Could be sandstone, could be limestone, but you won’t know until you drop some hydrochloric acid on them.

Our Community Manager, Gillian, noted that Tiny resembles the rocks on the Radiant side. According to his lore, Tiny doesn’t know where he came from, but he may want to send off one of his scabs for geochemical analysis along with a piece of the Radiant Ancient next time it explodes.

The River

There’s hardly any large-scale topographic relief on the Dota map, so it’s hard to imagine why the river flows the direction that it does. Considering that the river is easily crossed by all heroes—even those with stubby little legs and carts full of mines—it’s obviously not very deep, and, furthermore, the depth is extremely consistent.

You May Like

Season 10 Preseason is Here!

The river is clearly lacking a “thalweg” (Fig 3.): there’s no obvious spot where the water is the deepest. Typically, the natural flow of a river produces a thalweg, and it is in different parts of the channel based on the shape of the stream. Since the river that goes across the Dota map is pretty straight, we can assume it’s not in meander or braided stream stages.

Laminar flow can produce this sort of pattern, so we’ll assume that the river is basically flowing along without any eddies or turbulence and therefore is all one depth. The stairs at the ends of the river raise a few questions about where the water actually goes, but for the sake of simplicity, let’s assume the engineers of the Dota world put in a few culverts under the stairs to let the water pass through.

Figure 3: A typical river cross section, complete with thalweg (above) and a hypothetical cross section of the river in Dota 2 (below).

Roshan’s pit is another curiosity. It’s possible that it’s the remnants of a large boulder that sat in the middle of the river, and Roshan hollowed it out to make it a cozy little nook to live in. Or it could have been an eroded arch that eventually became a pillar and later, Roshan’s home. At any rate, he better be planning on fortifying the upstream side of it if he wants to keep living there. What does he do in there all day? Perhaps he’s slowly mining blocks of stone out of his home for barracks and shrine-building purposes.

(Screenshot by Esports Edition)

Higher Ground

There are a lot of geomorphologic explanations for why some ground is high and some is low. We know that certain areas on the map have little towers, sort of like sea stacks or hoodoos, that are great for placing wards on top of or cliffing heroes. Each team’s base is built upon a terrace—were these terraces naturally occurring, or created by man hero?

We can likely rule out a continental ice sheet origin. Large-scale glaciations tend to smooth over everything in their path. (Three-mile thick ice will do that.) They often produce rounded hill features called “drumlins.” (Fig. 4)

Figure 4: Drumlin landforms, seen in lidar. (Image via Washington State DNR)

One of the striking things about drumlins is that they usually have an obvious orientation and indicate which direction the glacial ice was flowing.

(Screenshot by Esports Edition)

In contrast, the patches of high ground on the Dota 2 map don’t seem to show any preferred orientation. So let’s rule out glaciation for now.

Another geomorphologic explanation for most of the features is water. A huge flood, to be more precise. Glacial outburst floods, or jökulhlaup in some contexts, are catastrophic releases of water that was either dammed by glacial ice or glacial landforms (or under a glacier). The Missoula Floods are the most well-known example of this in the United States. They created landscapes that look like Figure 5 below.

Figure 5: A landscape carved by a glacial outburst flood. (Photo via Wikipedia. Dota 2 map skins 2015 )

Some of those plateaus look awfully familiar, don’t they? I think this hypothesis is a more fitting explanation for Dota’s various cliffs, plateaus, and terraces.

Climatic Zones

The stark transition between the Radiant and the Dire side is fairly abrupt. Once you cross the river from Dire, you’re in a lush paradise. We can propose that the Dire side was recently scorched by some rampant wildfires which weren’t able to cross the river. Perhaps these fires were set off by some lava (or Razor’s lightning).

Economic Geology

Dota uses gold as a currency, so there’s clearly some gold available somewhere in the general region. Perhaps the reason why heroes gain gold constantly is because they all have mineral prospects somewhere in the area and their prospects are continually producing.

If, like me, wondering about the Dota terrain keeps you up at night, you finally have some reasonable explanations for how it all formed. Next time you’re 20 kills ahead and the enemy team is feeding, stop and take a look around at the landscape.

If I’ve piqued your curiosity and you’d like to learn more about the geological processes I’ve presented here (or argue your own hypotheses about how the terrain in Dota was formed), drop me a line on Twitter!

Custom Loadout Items/Kinetic Gems Broken

1. Having kinetic gems that changes animation still overrides each other , e. g: Juggernaut Fireborn Assault+Any Bladekeeper’s Kinetic gems Fixed

2. Multiple cases about Kunkka’s Kinetic Gems socketed in Whaleblade/Shadowblade/etc cancels out the animations/effects . Fixed

3. Lina’s Kinetic Gem Twister no longer has any function , since the latest update, all her spawn animation is the custom spinning one with or without the kinetic gem. I’ve tried removing the kinetic gem from the inventory to test if it still works, and yes, it does. So the question is, now what is the function of the kinetic gem if the custom spinning spawn animation is there by default?

4. Pudge Kinetic Gem Crow’s Feet and Trapper’s Treachery victory animation bugged when equipped together, as both kinetic gems has it’s own victory animation, it combos half Crow’s Feet animation and half Trapper’s Treachery animation which looks like Pudge is having a seizure. Fixed

4.1. With the new Pudge immortal, the Ripper’s Reel, Golden Ripper’s Reel and the Ripper’s Reel of the Crimson Witness, the hook will dislocate and clip through the shaft consistently. – Partially Fixed (Sometimes Re-occurs)

4.2. Pudge Ripper’s Reel, Golden Ripper’s Reel and the Ripper’s Reel of the Crimson Witness now cannot combo with the Trapper’s Treachery’s animation. Previously it works, but for some reason, now it doesn’t. Also, please change the icon of the Crimson Witness one to match the effects. Please re-fix this issue .

5. Some cases of particle effects such as Faceless Vo >particles are bugged . The particles do not appear where they should be. E. g: Chaos Knight’s eye particles for his mount is on the floor both in loadout or in-game, Faceless Void’s Voidhammer electric particles are on his side(supposed to be at the center of Voidhammer’s jewel)
Fixed

5.2. Here is the post regarding CK set particle bug: http://dev. dota2.com/showthread. php? t=185247, the front legs of his mount still seems to be hovering Fixed

6. For the new immortals from the Golden Trove Carafe 2016 and the Treasure of the Crimson Witness, please change the in-game icon color accordingly as previously done to Golden Hydrakan Latch, Golden Fortune’s Tout and Golden Shadow Masquerade

7. Since latest updates, some particles including the Rubick’s Fantoccini set seems to be screwed up. Along with some kinetic gems at random not working, such as Pudge’s Trapper’s Treachery which supposed to change the movement animation. The animation at random times does not work, then it works again Fixed

8. The loadout screen when starting the game (with the “5 VS 5”) shows incorrect poses for certain heroes. One of the most prominent is with Legion Commander’s arcana where she poses as if she is using a Halberd instead of Dual Blades. Unable to confirm any other heroes with custom animations/poses for now. Will update if found. Screenshot below.

Please Fix These Bugs
Thank You For Fixing Some Of The Bugs! (Some of the fixed bugs have been removed from the list)

9. Since now we are using Dota Plus Relics to track in-game stats, they seem to NOTwork at random times. Please note that we are SUBSCRIBING to Dota Plus and paying for it, hence, THESE KIND OF BUGS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING!

10.Rubick Arcana, “Exalted The Magus Cypher” is not unlocked even after reaching 40 wins . In Steam inventory, it shows that the arcana has 40 wins, but in-game it only shows 20 wins per the screenshots. Please add back the correct count based on the Steam inventory stats in-game. (Placing this here because when Rubick’s Arcana has a full unlocked gem, it changes his in-game animations)

Suggestion: As having multiple kinetic gems override each other, why not the animation prioritizes the top-most socketed kinetic gem?
Suggestion: Merging existing Inscribed Gem with Dota Plus Relics

Example: Fireborn Odachi is equipped with Fireborn Assault and Blade Keeper’s Blade Dance kinetic gems, the first kinetic gem (Fireborn Assault) should take priority.

Dota 2 Post-TI Roster Shuffle Is Starting To Become Interesting

A lot of changes happening after TI9. Valve

The International 2019 is the biggest Dota 2 event of the year. After 10 days of intense battles, it was OG that came out on top and raised the Aegis. For some games, there is usually a lull once a season wraps up. However for Dota 2, after Major tournaments there is always the chance for a roster shuffle. This year, the post-TI roster shuffle is starting to be a rather fun event. Today we look at some of the changes that happened since the end of TI9.

Southeast Asia

Just as the TI9 tournament came to a close, it was announced the three members of Mineski had left the team. These were Ryan “Bimbo” Jay, Michael “ninjaboogie” Ross Jr., and Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov. It was almost simultaneous with Nikobaby tweeting LFT first followed by ninjaboogiee and Bimbo. This is not that surprising, given that the team had been having roster issues even before TI9. Both Bimbo and ninjaboogie joined Mineski back in March with Nikobaby completing the team in late June. That leaves Mineski with Kam Boon “Moon” Seng and Damien “kpii” Chok.

One of the biggest updates, particularly for SEA Dota, is the news that Carlo “Kuku” Palad left TNC Predator. Like the Mineski team members, Kuku sent out a “LFT” tweet. You can read more about that here. Kuku has not explained why he decided to leave the team. Making the situation even more confusing is that as of this writing, there is still no official word from TNC on this matter. Die-hard TNC fans are claiming it stands for “Looking for Tims” instead of “Looking for Team.” However, in a recent exhibition match, Kuku’s absence in the team was rather obvious.

Fnatic also experienced a roster change. Team Captain Kim “DuBu” Doo-young left the team and said that he was willing to play in any region. He then went on to jokingly add that “free kpop dance class” would be part of the deal.

The Americas

It’s not just about players as some organizations let go of their entire roster. One of the early “victims” was Complexity Gaming who released their entire lineup. Player. One reported on this, and you can read more here. Even Muriëlle “Kips” Huisman left as Coach.

What is interesting however is Infamous. Considering their performance during the recently concluded TI, it was certain that the team would continue to play. That appears to be the case with one slight difference. The team decided to continue playing together, but left the Infamous organization behind. As of the moment, the team is looking for organizations in the South America region that will sign them up.

China

Roster changes have also come to Chinese Dota 2 teams with a few surprises as well. The first relates to Song “Sccc” Chun. Despite being a member of Newbee since 2016, Sccc made the decision to leave the team and has signed on with Team Aster.

Vici Gaming had to deal with the decision of Pan “Fade” Yi, who is retiring. This was a surprise considering that Fade served as Team Captain to a team that was considered one of the favorites of TI9. There was the expectation that VG would be one of those teams that would retain its roster post-TI. However, the team suddenly called out Royal Never Give Up for contacting Fade just after TI9. Instead of responding to the issue, Fade announced he was retiring, saying that he was already tired of being at the center of the storm.

Another Chinese team that got hit with the post-TI shuffle was PSG. LGD. Yao “QQQ” Yi decided to leave as Coach. Meanwhile Team Captain Xu “fy” Linsen announced that he was taking a break citing his health condition. He has since been placed on the inactive list.

Europe

Finally we go to the Europe region and for teams that were part of TI, it was Chaos Esports Club that announced changes in its roster. First Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann announced he was leaving and was still checking options. Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen has been put on inactive status saying that he is taking a break until the second Major.

Notable Events

There are other roster news that caught the attention of the Dota 2 community. One interesting update is T1, formerly SK Telecom T1, deciding to officially join Dota 2. For those familiar, T1 is known for their StarCraft division and championships in League of Legends. So far, the organization has only signed up Lee “Forev” Sang-don.

Another piece of news is Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao teaming up with Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu, Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling, David “MoonMeander” Tan, and Jonathan Bryle “bryle” Santos De Guia. Dota 2 ti 2 vodstvo As of now, they are looking for sponsors.

There’s no question that a lot has happened over the past week. Let’s see what happens in the coming days and what moves different teams are going to make.

Cooldown Reduction

Cooldown Reduction is a mechanic that reduces the cooldown of spells, passives, items, charge based abilities.

Contents

Formula [ edit ]

Cooldown reduction stacks multiplicatively. Flat changes are calculated after percentages.

(Cooldown × (1 – reduction) × (1 – next source of reduction)) – source of flat reduction + source of flat increase = reduced cooldown

Example using a 60 second cooldown spell affected by 25% reduction and 15% reduction sources:

60 × (1 – 0.25) × (1 – 0.15) = 60 × 0.75 × 0.85 = 38.25 second cooldown

Cooldown Reduction Abilities [ edit ]

Below is a list of abilities that provide this effect. Many heroes also have Talents that provide cooldown reduction.

Keeper of the Light [ edit ]
