The first day of the playoffs is in the books at Frankfurt and only twelve teams remain after Cloud9, Fnatic, Newbee and Newbee. Young have been eliminated. You can see where the rest of the bracket currently stands here. The action resumes tomorrow at 10:30am CET.

In the meantime, check out this piece about the reigning TI5 champions, Evil Geniuses.

The Frankfurt Major Group Stage

The first Dota Major Championship is nearly upon us. The battle begins as sixteen of the world’s best teams enter the Group Stage. You can follow all the action live in the Dota 2 client by visiting the new ‘Featured Tournament’ section. Check out real-time brackets as well as links to watch any matches you may have missed. Coverage is scheduled to begin around 10:00am CET (here’s a helpful time zone converter).

Our film team has put together a few short features for the event. The first follows CDEC’s stunning run from Wild Card underdog to championship contender at The International while capturing the thoughts of some of the biggest names in the game as they prepare for the Frankfurt Major. In addition, we’ve just added all the player profile videos from TI5 to Steam.

Add this free app to get updated videos in the future directly onto your Steam account.

Enter the Haunted Colosseum

This year, we felt the best way to mark the passage of October was to create a spooky, pumpkin-filled Custom Game. Haunted Colosseum is a new 5-on-5 battle for territorial control, complete with Capture Points, devilish traps, and warrior behemoths. It’s available now, you can learn more about it here, and then launch Dota 2 to try it for yourself.

We’ve revamped the Custom Games overview page with the goal of promoting discovery of great Custom Games, and getting people into lobbies and playing as quickly as possible. To do that, we’ve replaced the “Suggested Games” list with an “Open Lobby” list, and we’ve added a new panel which highlights an automatically-chosen Game of the Day.

This update also includes the second Tribute treasure for Fall Compendium owners: the Tribute of the Sharpened Feather.

There are a lot of additional changes and improvements in this update, such as a new section in your profile for showing off your tournament tickets, a way to see and manage your downloaded replays, support for offline solo play, a new matchmaking region in Tokyo with connectivity to Taiwan and Korea, a couple of balance changes with 6.85b, and more. Check out the complete notes for the full rundown.

Soaring Cache and Compendium Coins

Available exclusively to Fall Compendium owners, the new Soaring Cache treasure contains 7 new sets, including a rare set for Warlock complete with a new Golem summon. The cache also has a very rare chance to contain the Padda’pon of Ribbi’tar Death Ward item for Witch Doctor, which can further be customized by Prismatic Gems. Additionally, every fifth Soaring Cache you open will also yield a Bonus Cache which contains either 5, 11, 24 Compendium levels, the Warlock set or the Ribbi’tar Death Ward. Unlike the previous Collector’s Cache items which were never tradable, the Soaring Cache items can be traded like normal Treasure items and are immediately giftable and fully tradable a month after the event ends. You can also recycle any Soaring Cache items for 2 Compendium Levels.

We’ve also made a number of improvements to increase everyone’s coin earnings. We’ve removed the 5% cut from Coin Wager winnings and added Wager Bonuses which increase how many coins you can win from a match wager as well as allowing you to earn Coins even when the opponents did not wager. Compendium owners also now have a chance to receive a Coin Treasure or 750 Coin Pack at the end of a match.

When the Reborn Update released last month, new music arrived with it. The Dota 2 Reborn theme is an update to the original Dota 2 theme that also incorporates several new melodies which have been added to the game over the last several years. While the orchestra played, the cameras looked on. We’d like to present this look at the recording of the Dota 2 Reborn theme.

We are also pleased to announce that we have begun adding Russian voices to Dota’s heroes. This first release includes the default announcer and nine heroes, with more voices coming soon. Players can select which voice language they would like to hear by opening Steam and right-clicking on Dota 2. From here, select Properties, then Language, and choose your preferred voice language. Steam will then download the new language.

Several other features and fixes are also included in today’s update, including the return of Team Matchmaking, and the ability to share announcers with other players in your matches. Check out the update notes for more information.

The Frankfurt Major Teams

The dust has settled. After hundreds of Dota matches across the Open and Regional Qualifiers, eight teams have emerged victorious. These teams will now join the directly invited teams to make up the final sixteen that will compete at The Frankfurt Major.

Already, the road to The Frankfurt Major has been packed with excitement as both veteran and rookie teams have proven their worth. While former champions Alliance, Invictus Gaming, and NewBee made a return to prominence, extremely solid play was seen from Fnatic, Cloud9, Mineski and (Monkey) Business. Especially impressive were Team Unknown, a Peruvian squad who entered the Open Qualifiers and then fought all the way to the Main Event through the Americas Qualifiers.

The Main Event for The Frankfurt Major will take place at Festhalle Messe in Frankfurt, Germany this November 16 through 21. The sixteen teams will battle over six days, using the same Main Event format as The International, to claim their piece of the $3,000,000 prize pool.

If you’ve never been to a live Dota tournament, don’t miss out on your chance to see the action in person, meet the players and personalities, and check out the merchandise available at the Secret Shop. Tickets to The Frankfurt Major Finals are still available, and can be purchased here.

New Features and Fixes

As part of today’s update, we’re releasing new features and improvements for item management and chat.

New to the Armory, the Collection view gives you a fully customizable space to easily arrange and organize your favorite items. With the help of a new filter to show items that aren’t already in the Collection, you can design your Armory in the way you see fit. If you had a previous layout that you liked from the legacy interface, you’ll be able to use a command to import that layout over. We’ve also added a new notification to the Armory to quickly see your most recently acquired items at a glance.

The new Item Details interface for customizing your items with gems has been enabled as well. You can access the Item Details panel by double-clicking on an item in the Armory. Additionally, the chat interface now allows you to share your party or lobby directly in any chat channel, making it easier for others to join you for a match.

A number of other important fixes are also included in this update, including many Arcana and Immortal visual fixes, as well as performance improvements. You can read the patch notes for the update here.

Dendi

Danil “Dendi” Ishutin (born December 30, 1989) is a Ukrainian professional Dota 2 and former DotA player. Well known for his solo mid skills, he is regarded as one of the most creative players in the scene today, and is renowned for his unorthodox play style and unconventional skill and item builds. After having played for Natus Vincere for the entirety of his professional Dota 2 career, he finally departed the active roster for the first time in September 2018. He currently plays for The Pango.

Biography [ edit ]

Born in Lviv, Ukraine, Dendi got an early start with competitive gaming in net cafes when his elder brother married, moved out and took the family’s PC with him. Dabbling with Counter-Strike first, he soon found Warcraft 3 where he played in local tournaments and built a love for the competition and a thirst to be the best. Though he was quite successful in Warcraft 3 and even won a few local championships in Lviv, he knew he had found his calling when he stumbled upon DotA. He picked up the game quickly and played it almost exclusively over the next few months.

Beginning with learning only supports, he practiced heavily and was quickly vouched to the IHCS1 league and soon created his own team for tournaments in Lviv. After he led his team to a championship in Kiev, he was drafted by a team called “Wolker. Gaming” and began his professional career at 17.

DotA [ edit ]

Dendi started playing professionally with WG in 2006. [1] He was a part of the Ukrainian squad that finished third in MYM Prime Nations the same year. Only a few months later WG made it to the grand final of one of the most prestigious tournaments at the time; MYM Prime Defending. [2] When Kingsurf. international merged with WG the next year he became a full-time member of Ks. int. [1] In late 2008 he joined DTS, only to return to Ks. int in March 2009. [3] Three months later though, Dendi returned to DTS. [4] The team would end up finishing 2nd at ESWC 2010. At the end of 2010, Dendi and DTS finished 3rd at the prestigious WDC 2010. [5] Dendi joined Natus Vincere at the end of 2010. [6]

Dota 2 [ edit ]

Dendi started his Dota 2 career with Na’Vi, who quickly established themselves as one of the best teams in the world by winning The International 2011. Na’Vi continued to dominate and won many tournaments in the years 2011, 2012 and 2013. Dendi was the center of Na’Vi’s consistent stable and skilled rosters, with his performance greatly contributing to their success.

The Natus Vincere Dota 2 team achieved significant success with Dendi as their midlaner during the first few years of the game; they finished as the runners-up for both The International 2012 and The International 2013, losing out to Invictus Gaming and Alliance, respectively. 2013 would mark the last year of Na’Vi and Dendi’s dominance in the Dota 2 scene, as they only recorded two LAN victories since January 2014. The International 2014 saw Na’Vi and Dendi finishing the tournament outside of the top 2 for the first time and the following two Internationals, TI 5 and TI 6, they would finish in last place. The results would deteriorate further, as they would fail to even qualify for The International 2017, they failed to advance out of the group stage of the regional qualifiers. This marked the first year of The International tournaments without Dendi attending as a player. The 2017/18 season started of promising for Dendi and Na’Vi, who dominated the CIS scene in the early months, crowning their improving results with their second LAN victory since 2014. However, the second half of the season saw the roster break apart and finally the team would fail to even reach the regional qualifiers for The International 2018, after losing in the open qualifier.

Four years of roster instability and poor results finally took their toll on the reputation of the Na’Vi organization and on Dendi’s status as a legendary player and a top tier midlaner. After 8 years playing mid on Na’Vi, Dendi was finally removed from the active roster in September 2018. However, Dendi vowed to continue playing professionally. After a brief stint on Tigers, Dendi joined The Pango.

Veteran Filipino Casters Marlon “Lon” Marcelo and Aldrin “Dunoo” Pangan Sent To Seattle For The First-Ever TI6 Philippine Coverage

2016 is quickly becoming a standout year for Philippine eSports as the country’s representatives in the biggest eSports tournament ever, Dota 2’s The International 2016 (TI6),TnC and Execration join the battle for the coveted Aegis of Champions and a huge prize pool of over $19 million. As our hometown heroes wage war in Seattle, two of the country’s veteran shoutcasters will also be flying to TI6 for the first-ever live official Pinoy coverage of TI6.

Marlon “ Lon“ Marcelo and Aldrin “ Dunoo“ Pangan, the country’s most renowned Dota shoutcasting duo, will be bringing their brand of Pinoy shoutcasting hype to the world’s grandest eSports stage. In a statement released by Mineski. net, Lon and Dunoo will be casting TI6’s main stage matches after the group stages and will be broadcast live through the Mineski TV Twitch channel.

Lon also hinted that his biggest tournament broadcast might also be his last as he plans on hanging up the casting mic after TI6. Here’s what the duo had to say about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity:

Photo from Mineski. net

Marlon ‘Lon’ Marcelo:

“In a historical event like this, I’m very happy to be part of the official Philippine coverage team. I have been casting Dota since the WC3 days and this is somewhat of a dream come true for me because before I retire from casting, I want to cast at The International. To be able to cast for our kababayan and to watch the TI live is very Exciting and Byutiful .”

Aldrin ‘Dunoo’ Pangan

“Isang napakalaking karangalan at surpresa at the same time nitong pag kakataon na ito since sinong mag aakala na makakapunta ako sa pinaka malaking Dota2 tournament as an official caster, hindi ko inakala kahit sa panaginip ko, na mabibigyan ako ng ganitong klaseng opportunity.”

“(This [opportunity] comes as a big honor and surprise at the same time. Who would have thought that I would be able to go to the biggest Dota 2 tournament as an official caster. I won’t deny that even in my dreams, I never thought I’d be given this kind of opportunity.)”

How to watch Dota 2’s The International, the biggest esports event of the year

Nearly $25 million is on the line at this year’s tournament.

Even though Fortnite streams and Overwatch leagues seem to be grabbing all the headlines these days, the great grandparent of modern esports competitions, The International, is still the biggest esports event of the year. Since 2011, the world’s biggest Dota 2 tournament has drawn huge audiences. One of the biggest reasons: It has, by far, the biggest prize pool of any esports tournament, currently sitting at roughly $24.5 million — and that sum is likely to go up before the main event begins Monday, Aug. 20.

The International starts with a prize pool of $1.6 million, but Valve offers a Battle Pass for $10 to all players that lets them earn rewards by playing while the competition is going on. Players can earn things like new character skins, new in-game announcer voices, item skins and more. Twenty-five percent of the cost of each Battle Pass is then added to the prize pool over the course of the event. As it stands now, the winning team would take home over $10 million.

The International has already gone through several early rounds, but next week we move into the main event, which runs from August 20 to Friday, August 25.

Fortnite didn’t invent the battle pass, after all.

What is Dota 2?

For those who are unfamiliar with the game, Dota 2 is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game where two teams of five players square off on a large map, each with a home base (called an Ancient). The two teams go to battle to try to ultimately destroy the other team’s Ancient and win the game.

Though it might sound easy, it’s an extremely complex game that’s difficult to learn and extremely hard to master. There are more than 100 heroes to choose from, each with a suite of unique special abilities. As you play, you earn gold you can use to buy items over the course of the game that will add to your stats and abilities. Knowing which items to buy and combine to maximize your hero’s powers takes time to learn, and that’s before you even talk about the strategy of controlling battle lanes, how to engage in battles with your specific hero against different heroes and how to work with a team to control the playing field and finally destroy your opponents’ Ancient.

With all that said, when a team knows what it’s doing, a match can turn on a dime making a tournament between pro teams especially exciting. And since The International is the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year, there’s a good chance you’ll be watching the best of the best.

How to watch the International

There are a few different ways to get in on the action. You can watch live through Steam Broadcasting, get on Twitch (no login required) or go to a place near where you live that hosts Pubstomp events. But the best way to watch, especially if you already play the game, is to watch from within the Dota 2 client itself.

By watching from within the game, you can change cameras at will, follow specific players if you have favorites, and you can listen to a multicast in English, Chinese or Russian that offers up highlights of matches as they’re being played.

Or, if you happen to be lucky enough to find yourself in the possession of a ticket to the in-person event, The International will be held at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. Watch dota 2 international 2013 live stream

Every game starts off slowly, but once it gets going it can get crazy.

Top Female Dota 2 Players in Pakistan

Dota 2, the famous multiplayer game all over the world has made its impression among young girls. The game has been going on for ages. It has been listed in the top multiplayer games for the year 2018. What amazes us is the increasing number of young girls putting their hard efforts to come in top rankings from every country.

Please message us on Facebook “fb. com/thetechseer” with your details if you think you are good enough to be on our list of Top Female Dota 2 players in Pakistan. You can set up your own channel and start earning from ads. Here are some of the famous girls from Pakistan known to be good in Dota 2.

Top Female Dota 2 Players in Pakistan

1. Kitty:

Rameesha, goes by the nick “Kitty” is 22 with a 4.3k solo mmr at the moment.

I am a makeup artist who owns her saloon. A crazy animal lover, a sketcher, and an avid reader. I work 5 – 6 hours a day and after that, I enjoy my video games. Falling toward the introversion side, I choose to stay at home and stream media on YouTube, Twitch, and Netflix.

A gamer since the age of 11, I consider gaming as my forte. Easily put, I’m good at every game I play. I played Counter strike 1.6 for 7 years and switched to Dota 2. Currently, I have 4.3k solo (Ancient) MMR and for now, my goal is to reach divine.

2. Oxymoron Witch:

Oxymoron Witch is really into games and she loves to watch animes. Her real name is Sehar and she is 24. Her Dota 2 solo mmr is 3.4k at the moment.

Well, I like to play games more than anything because it’s a great escape from reality. Dota 2 is that kind of game that will make us forget our problems of life, and who doesn’t want an escape for some hours?

I am playing Dota since 2013. I started Dota like I would any other game but have found myself immersed in it, especially with the team of 4 amazing girls. My team has me play the support “guy”. I play at position 5. Currently, you might call me average but I aspire to reach the pro level. Enough with the “noobs” criticism.

3. Queen:

Hiba “Queen” Zubairi plays Dota 2 and CS: Go for fun and her solo mmr went up to 3.3k in Dota 2.

My journey in gaming started when I was a child. I had a creative mindset since kindergarten which treads us toward the answer to why I choose to become an artist. I stepped into the gaming world through Counter strike and my passion drove me towards being the best female CS player in Pakistan.

Later on, I started playing Dota as I loved how strategic it is. I have been playing it for almost 4 years and I have hit 3.3k solo which keeps me, in lack of a better word, motivated. I do play other games like PUBG & CS:Go, but Dota 2 will always be my first priority.

4. Hibana:

Hibana, the youngest of all has a thing for Dota 2. She is 16 but ready to play for the TI. Her real name is Hiba, guess we have 2 best female players with the same name. She is currently sitting on 2.7k mmr.

I started playing Dota a year ago. I’m 16 years old and I have been crazy about games since my early childhood. Dota 2 is not a game for me, it’s my passion. I would love to be pro at Dota with my teammates. We want to promote gaming in Pakistan for females because we see there is so much talent in here. It’s not a “man’s” game, we’re shining here, too.

5. Jujubeez :

Mahnoor, 22 is majoring in Environmental Sciences and loves to play Dota 2 whenever she has the chance. Her nick is “Jujubeez” with a solo mmr of 2.1k.

In my free time, though, I love to watch horror and animated movies, read or sleep. I’ve been keen on protecting wildlife and nature since I could remember. I sleep a lot for a regular person. If I can manage to sleep 14 hours a day, I’d wake up for a snack and would have no trouble sleeping 14 hours more. Talk about a lit summer break.

I started Dota during my O-levels and remember them Garena days and the queues in matchmaking. I didn’t play frequently back then and was seen leaving it. However, Dota 2’s popularity had me giving it a go one more time and now, now I have been playing for 3 years. It takes a toll on you if you play too much, its nerve wrecking really! But alas, I can’t hate the game; still gonna play and complain about noob pinoys “Tanga ina mo bobo”.

Adding a Phone Number to a Dota Account

Players must associate a unique phone number to their accounts in order to queue for Ranked matches. If a phone number is removed from an account after association, a new number can be added, but there will be a three-month waiting period before that same number can be associated again.

How do I associate a number to my account?

Once a Dota account has become eligible for ranked, an “Associate Phone With Dota” option will display within the ranked find match window. After clicking on “Associate Phone With Dota”, the phone number registered to your Steam account will automatically be registered to your Dota account.

If a phone number has not yet been added to the Steam account you are using, you will be required to do so prior to adding it to your Dota account.

Does my phone number qualify?

If you are able to successfully register a number to your Steam account, it will work for Dota as well. Online services that provide virtual phone numbers do not qualify. this includes popular VOIP providers.

Please note that we do not make exceptions to this requirement. Should your number not qualify, you will need to use a different phone number.

See the official Steam Mobile site for information on how to register a qualifying number to a Steam account.

Can I associate the same phone number to multiple Dota accounts?

No, a phone number may be associated to only one Dota account at a time. If a number is removed from a Dota account, it cannot be used again for three months – this is to prevent the feature from being abused.

How do I remove a phone number from my Dota account?

In the Dota game client, navigate to the Settings menu, then the Account tab to manage your current phone association.

Note: removing your current phone associated with Dota incurs a 90 day cooldown before that phone number can be added to another Dota account.

What if I get a new phone number?

You may remove the old phone number from your Dota account and add a new number at any time.

Note: the three month cooldown will only apply to the number that was removed.

What if I do not have a phone?

If a qualifying phone number cannot be added to your Steam account, you will be unable to add a phone number to your Dota account. Ranked Matchmaking will not be available unless a phone number is added to the account.

Do I need the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator to register my phone number?

No, the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator is not required to register a phone number to your Dota account.

We still recommend that you use the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator. In addition to providing an extra layer of security for your account, adding the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator gives you full access to trading and the Steam Community Market.

More information can be found here: Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator

I can’t link my phone because the Steam overlay is not working.

If you are having an issue with the Steam overlay, make sure to follow all of the steps outlined in the Steam Overlay FAQ.

If you are not able to get the overlay working, you can still link a phone number by temporarily disabling the Steam overlay for Dota 2. You can do this by right-clicking the game in your Library > selecting ‘Properties’ > and then un-checking the ‘Enable Steam Overlay In Game’ box

Micromanagement refers to the control and coordination of units and characters which are under the direct control of the player. Heroes like Lone Druid, Chen, Broodmother, Chen require micromanagement in order to play effectively and win the game.

This guide will aim to tell the basic micromanagement settings which can be used to micromanage efficiently.

Ever seen this small box at the right end corner of your setting page?

This setting is important in order to micromanage your units which you control. This setting is called Control Groups

Control groups allow any micro unit to become like an individual unit which can be controlled more vividly and can be given more tasks to execute.

A simple way to show how control groups work is by showing Lone Druid micromanagement

As seen above in the screenshot, Lone Druid is selected because it is the hero and is also the main unit. ( Main units are always selected first regardless of how many units you will micro ) Most players will tend to micro the bear by pressing Tab and selecting the bear and giving him the task. This process however is slow and tedious and eats away a lot of time which can be used to perform other tasks in the game.

Assigning control groups is done by holding CTRL and pressing the hotkey for the control group.

Example : You have assigned Group 2 control group the hotkey 2 and you want the bear to be selected whenever you press 2 . So to assign control group 2 to the bear.

  • Hold CTRL
  • While holding CTRL , press the designated hotkey. In our example, it is 2
  • The hotkey 2 will be assigned to the bear.

So now, whenever you will double tap the control group hotkey (in our example it is 2), the camera will focus towards the micro unit and will be treated as a individual unit

In simple words to say, Control groups work by making your micro unit behave like a seprarate unit which can be controlled independently from the hero.

Now that we know how control groups work and are used, we can talk about how to add more units in a control group.

Consider this. You are playing as Lone Druid and is expected to push. Your build consists of Necronomicon for a better push advantage. One of your control groups is assigned to the spirit bear but now you want to add the Necronomicon units in the same control group whenever you spawn them.

In order to execute this, drag-box select the units you want to be added in the control group.

Once they are selected

  • Hold SHIFT
  • Press the designated control group hotkey you want the units to be added in
  • The units will be added in the control group

After you have performed these steps, whenever you will press the hotkey for the control group, the newly unit added will also be selected.
]

Apart control groups and Tabbing, there are other settings in Dota which make the process of micromanaging a lot easier.

This is an important techinque of micromanagement which is required for kiting, defensive plays and blocking. As shown in the image by the name Select all controlled units , this setting is used to select all units including the hero and its micro units.

As seen above, every single unit including the hero has been selected when the hotkey is pressed for this action.

This micromanagement setting is used for controlling micro units except your hero. This setting is important for lane controlling, jungling and scouting when your main hero is busy executing other actions or is needed in a teamfight.
