Biography [ edit ]

Although a relative newcomer to the Dota 2 scene, fy has found immediate success in the professional scene. Fy is often considered to be the best Rubick player in the world, and he and former teammate Fenrir were known as one of the top support duos in the world and the main driver behind the success of Vici Gaming.

2012-2015: Beginnings with Vici Gaming and TI-runner up [ edit ]

Fy first made his appearance in competitive Dota 2 when Vici Gaming was created on the 21st of October, 2012. [1] It was believed that it took numerous attempts to persaude fy to come to VG despite not having played a single match of Dota 2, but a person called “WarGod7” convinced him to join the team and eventually become a player of VG as a support. Fy described his move to Vici Gaming as “fate”. [2] He played alongside with cty, fenrir, xtt and sydm – the four remaining players in the Dota 2 squad alongside their team manager/team leader Panda Pan Pan also known as Fengdidi.

Vici Gaming failed to find some form in the first half of the 2013 calendar year as they were eliminated in the groupstage or the first round of the playoffs in many domestic tournaments such as G-League 2012: Season 2 and Dota 2 Super League. More importantly, they fell short in the The International 3 Eastern Qualifiers, losing to LGD 3-0 in the grand finals.

Despite the heroics of fy’s favorite hero, Rubick, during G-League, it was understood that fy and xtt dec >[3] The next day saw a sharp turn of events when fy dec >[4] The aftermath of the incident resulted in fy’s position in Vici Gaming remained unchanged while xtt offically left the team, leaving Vici Gaming on the lookout for a carry player. After the fallout between fy and VG, the team saw further changes with cty leaving, Super and rOtk coming in after ZSMJ’s exit, and Sylar’s controversial replacement of TuTu.

After several months of instability within the team, Vici Gaming were invited last minute to the LAN event finals of ESL Major Series One Fall Event in Tychy, Poland when Team DK’s visas were denied. This event showed the awakenings of the renowned Fenrir-Fy support duo; fy displayed his virtuoso talents as a rising support star throughout the series and won the tournament MVP award after Vici Gaming defeated Fnatic 3-1 in the grand finals. [5] This was also fy’s first LAN victory and his first Victory away from mainland China. Dota 2 fy god After the event, an interview was conducted with fy where he sa >[6]

2014 saw a good year for fy when he and his team were directly invited to The International 2014 by Valve. With Vici Gaming, he placed 2nd at The International 2014 falling short in the grand finals losing to Newbee 3-1. While coming 2nd in his first International, he mentioned it was a pity but was later optimistic that reaching 2nd place was a great achievement for his first time. He used his prize money from the tournament to buy his mom a new house. [7] After the 2014 TI shuffle, rOtK retired and fy was made captain and drafter for the team. He highlighted that he had faith with his team despite the addition of Black^ who could not speak Mandarin. [8] He captained Vici with victories at ESL One New York 2014 and The Summit 2. The following year, Vici placed 2nd at the Dota 2 Asia Championships and 4th at The International 2015, where he was featured in a player profile by Valve. [2]

2016-present: Vici-Gaming Reborn and move to LGD Gaming [ edit ]

On the 19th of March, 2016, Fy was moved to Vici Gaming’s secondary squad, Vici Gaming Reborn. He won his first tournament under his youth team beating Natus Vincere 3-1 in the StarLadder Invitational 1 despite having his coach Mikasa playing as a substitute for the team. [9] Following the event, he finished in the top eight for the Manila Major 2016 but was eliminated in the first round of the lower bracket during The International 2016. He later moved back to his primary squad, Vici Gaming on the 14 September 2016, but wavered mixed success throughout the next calendar year, reaching second place in Starladder i-League StarSeries Season 3 and a 5-8th place in the Kiev Major 2017 as their most notable achievements, and most notably, not qualifying for The International 2017.

During the spring break of 2017, it was announced that after six years with the organisation, fy departed from Vici Gaming to join LGD as an offlaner, with intentions of strengthing the team’s chemistry and to diversify his role versatility. [10] [11] With the addition of Chalice, the team finished second place in their first Minor PGL Open Bucharest 2017, however his tenure as an offlaner came to an abrupt end, following xNova’s addition to the squad from his successful trial, resulting in fy to return to position four. [12] The return to his original position, prompted success to the team, victorious in several chinese qualifiers, and finished place in DAC 2018 and beating Team Liqu >[13]

Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018

Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018 will be held between the 29th March until 7th April 2018, bringing all the legendary battles to Shanghai at the Oriental Sports Center. The best 16 esports teams will be competing for their share of a prize pool of a whopping $1 million and a total of 1,500 DPC points will be up for grabs for TI8. All dota fans like you will be cheering and witnessing the great competition of their favorite squads so that you could start dota 2 betting online.

The first event of the Dota 2 Championships in Asia was held in 2015 organized by Perfect World and Mars Media at the time. The thrilling part of this event was in the Winner Finals where Vici Gaming won over Evil Geniuses, who defeated Team Secret in the Loser’s Finals. EG proceeded to the Grand Finals facing VG once again, winning the tournament with an unbeatable score of 3-0.

The next Dota 2 Asia Championship tournament was held in 2017. Top esports teams like Invictus Gaming defeated OG in the Grand Finals with an amazing record of 3-0. IG won the Grand Finals of the DAC 2017 in a best-of-5 match, taking home the first prize of an amazing $244K.

The Dota 2 Asia Championships tournament format will start off with the Group Stage that will take place on the 29 March until 3rd April. 16 of the best dota teams will play in a best-of-1 with two top squads that will advance to the Playoffs held on the 4th till 7th April.

The esports teams that will participate in the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018 include Invictus Gaming, the SouthEast Asian qualified teams, Mineski and TNC Pro Team, Keen Gaming will represent the China region. Representing CIS is the dota team Effect, North American Qualifiers Optic Gaming, and South American team paiN Gaming. If one of these esports squads is your favorite, why not take a risk on dota 2 betting?

The top dota 2 teams that will also participate in the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018 include;

LGD Gaming

At the moment, LGD Gaming is ranking in top dota teams in the world, ranking in the 9th place. The latest roster changes saw Sea mew leave to join CDEC Gaming and Yao left to form part of LGD. Forever Young. Meanwhile, xNova was acquired by LGD Gaming and Ame returned to the active dota 2 roster. In general, the dota 2 team performs well in qualifying matches. However, the only major esports tournament that they attended recently was the StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 4, where they managed to reach the finals only to lose against TL to come to a close second place. LGD has the potential to surprise but do they have what it takes to win more esports tournaments.?

The European qualified esports team, OG is ranking in 8th place of top dota 2 teams in the world at the moment. This squad has been on a winning streak in most of the qualifying matches like the EPICENTER XL, DreamLeague Season 9 Europe, Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018 and The Bucharest Major Europe. However, in the latest premier tournament, ESL One Katowice 2018, OG lost to Team Liquid in the Loser’s Round 3, which placed them in 7th place. They have the drive to be a better esports team but they need to train harder to be on top.

Vici Gaming

VG is currently the 7th top dota team in the world, starting 2018 at the Captains Draft 4.0, where they came to a close second place losing to Team Secret in the grand finals. Another great win for Vici Gaming was at the ESL One Katowice 2018, reaching the finals once again, losing to Virtus. Pro. In the next premier esports event, The Bucharest Major saw Vici lose to Team Liquid to rank in 12th place. The Chinese players are playing at home so most likely they will train harder to be where they want to be with the support of their Chinese dota fans.

Evil Geniuses

EG’s latest dota 2 performance at ESL One Katowice 2018 proved not to be one of the best matches, in fact, Evil Geniuses lost to Virtus. Pro to finish in sixth place. Ever since they participated in the Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds, Evil Geniuses have ranked in the top four of esports tournaments like Epicenter XL: North America qualifiers and ESL One Genting. These results have ranked Evil Geniuses the 6th top dota 2 team in the world.

Team Secret

The latest esports tournament that Team Secret have participated in was the ESL One Katowice 2018, where they managed to reach the quarterfinals but lost to Liquid to finish in 5th place. ESL One Genting 2018 proved to be better reaching the Semifinals only to lose against Newbee. Team Secret’s great win was at the start of 2018 at the Captains Draft 4.0, taking the major title, beating Vici Gaming with an unbeatable score 3-2 in the finals. These results so far have placed Team Secret in the top 5 of dota 2 squads, but how will they fare at the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018?

VGJ. Thunder

Another Chinese team, VGJ. Thunder has topped the Dota 2 leaderboards as the 4th top squad in the world. Their latest addition was dota player, ddc who is on loan from LGD. Forever Young. At the most recent event, The Bucharest Major, the pro unit managed to reach the finals competing against Virtus. pro finishing in second place. However, at the ESL One Genting 2018, they were eliminated in the Loser finals defeated by Vici Gaming to finish in seventh place. In general, VGJ. Thunder does really well in the qualifier matches but also surprises the esports spectators win incredible game plays, whenever they want.

Newbee

A Chinese team like Newbee has the advantage of having the major support at esports events held in China like the DAC 2018. This unit is presently the third top dota team in the world, having won the ESL One Genting 2018, beating Team Liquid in the finals. At the StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 4, they managed to rank in good third placing. On the other hand, at ESL One Katowice 2018, the unit lost to Evil Geniuses in the Group Stages Losers round 3 to place in 8th place. The dota squad has the power to dominate prestigious esports tournaments so how do you think Newbee will fare at the Dota 2 Asia Championships?

  • Does not disjoint projectiles that are traveling towards Ember Spirit when he casts this spell.
  • While traveling, Ember Spirit can attack, cast spells, and use items.
  • Forced movement cancels the movement of Activate Fire Remnant and removes its invulnerability.
    • However, the remnants still get used up and Ember Spirit gets instantly moved to the last one’s location once it explodes.
  • Always travels to the Fire Remnant furthest away from the targeted point first.
  • Ember Spirit damages enemies within a 225 radius around him as he travels, and in a 450 radius around a remnant upon reaching it.
    • Enemies may only be damaged once per remnant, either by Ember Spirit as he travels towards the remnant, or by him upon reaching the remnant.
  • Destroys trees within 200 radius around Ember Spirit while traveling to a remnant.

Introduction

Bristletank
This is my guide to building a Bristletank! As the name implies a Bristleback that’s role is to take/withstand lots of damage from the enemy and also divert their attention from squishier team mates.

I believe that while this builds focuses more on defense than offence, Bristlebacks ulti makes up for this, as the longer he is alive the more damage he can do by the very nature of his ultimate skill.

Any feedback or errors you notice please let me know as this is my first guide on here.

Items

Starters
Tangos and Healing Salve and stock standard, and Bristleback needs these as he can take a lot of early damage against ranged heroes in particular.

Ring of Protection gives a great armor boost, and the two Iron Branch are the start of a wand. I sometimes get some Clarity potions instead of branches as your mana can be a problem early on.

Early On
Buying a Sage’s Mask first thing gives you your Ring of Basilius and helps with your early game mana issues. The order of the next three items, finishing off your wand, Power treads and Stout Shield all depend on whats happening in game. I usually skip the Shield if I can as I don’t always build it into a Vanguard.

Enemy Magic? OR Enemy Physical?
These two option depend on the heroes selected by your opponents. If the enemy have more magic-damage type heroes or lots of stuns/silences then get a Hood of Defiance that builds into a Pipe of Insight . You can also get the all important Black King Bar to help out. Linken’s Sphere is also another option but having the first two should be enough.

If the enemy has more physical-damage heroes then I go down the armor boosting path (my favourite!). Getting Mekansm depends on the supports on your team, often they will get this but I am more than happy to as its gives great armor and health regen, though does drain your mana. Dota 2 bristleback seton Getting a Mek often means I will get another item to help my mana regeneration. Assault Cuirass is great on Bristleback for obvious reasons. I’m not sold on the Vladmir’s Offering but unsure of a good, cheapish alternative if someone else is getting Mekansm. Often I will go straight for the Assault Cuirass.

Basically go with what you need (it may be a mix of both).

Situational
These are viable option depending on whats happening in your game.
Drum of Endurance is a handy cheap option that I am warming to.
Heart of Tarrasque is awesome but the Reaver you need to build it is a long wait till you save up the gold.
Abyssal Blade is great for damage/ganking, and you could just get the Skull Basher instead of turning it into an Abyssal.
Shivas Guard is a great mix between Armour and mana problem AND has a great slow.
Gem of True Sight is great on Bristleback once he has his tank items.
The Radiance I tend to only go if I need to do EVERYTHING on my team.
Shadow Blade only if I’m sick of dying when my team is getting smashed.
Vanguard tends to be only useful REALLY early and scales poorly.

Bad Buys
Orb of Venom is okay but takes a slot and does what you should be doing with you ‘q’ skill.
Blade Mail is not effective on Bristleback due to his damage reduction.
Eye of Skadi looks good but for the price you are paying there are so many better options.
Medallion of Courage is useful 1v1, but as this is a tank role the negative armour it gives you when active is not good if multiple enemies are focused on you.

Skills

Viscous Nasal Goo (Q)
Viscous Nasal Goo is a snot rocket that allows Bristleback to effectively gank, however it become much more effective once he has his ultimate ability.

Quill Spray (W)
Quill Spray is AOE skill that when stacked gives huge damage. While it is handy as well to secure last hits, at early levels the damage is very low and can be hard to judge.

Bristleback (E)
Bristleback is what allows him to be a great tank, reducing damage when his back is turned. Positioning is crucial for this skill (obviously) and you should find yourself constantly trying to have enemies hit your back for that free Quill Spray release.

Warpath (R)
Warpath turns Bristleback into an angry, angry trucker. Spamming your Goo and Quills gives him huge speed and right click damage, meaning opponenents have to TRY to take you out early in a teamfight or suffer the massive damage you can output.

My Skill Sequence
Again I tend to change this depending on whats happening in the game. People often like to put their third point into Quills before their second point into Bristleback, but I prefer the more defensive option. If I think I can get an early kill I will go Nasal Goo earlier than Level 4.

Team Work

Friends
Bristleback is often used solo lane but in pubs chances are someone will lane with you. I prefer a ranged support that can harass the enemy heroes, and I can protect when a gank comes. My favourite laning partners include Skywrath Mage , Dazzle , Omniknight and Witch Doctor to name a few.

Foes
Not too many but the main ones are Axe and Legion Commander due to their abilities that force a face to face fight, which doesn’t allow Bristleback to use his ‘E’ skill.

Guide to Remove High Ping Spikes from Dota 2

Update : With the focus of keeping the article up to date with the latest issues, we have added a few new points that will help you solve Dota 2 high ping spikes in a better manner.

High ping spikes in Dota 2 are a pain in the butt if you are one of the unlucky gamers facing the trouble. There can be many reasons behind its cause and therefore proper scrutiny of each one of them is important if you are willing and eager to solve it ASAP. So today, we at Kill Ping would be bringing you a step by step go through on how you can solve your Dota 2 ping spikes for good.

Dota 2 Ping Spikes Fix

Disk Defragmentation

While many tell you to perform this operation for better computer performance, they don’t however; enlighten you on how it actually works. Consider the game takes over 30 boxes of space in the hard drive. The way it is installed, your computer puts all the boxes randomly in your hard drive.

With the passage of time, your hard drive is filled with more files/ games/ software whatever there is on your computer. However, with Disk Defragmentation, all the 30 boxes of Dota 2 will be compiled at a particular location making it easy for the computer to perform tasks related to the game. This while does not directly relate to solving ping spikes, however, will help Dota 2 to work run much smoother.

We do believe you are not new to this and will probably know how to perform the task, however, in case you don’t follow the simple steps below;

  1. Open My Computer
  2. Right click on the Drive where Dota 2 is available
  3. Open Properties
  4. Click on the Tools tab and select Defragment Now
  5. Select the Drive and Click the appropriate button

Please note that depending on the size of the drive the process may take 2 to 5 hours to complete. So better if you do this when you go to sleep or have some good options on how you would be spending the next couple of hours.

Deleting Crash Dump Files

Dota 2 Crashes a lot, and ping spikes can be a reason. However, we are not talking about game crashes over here, hopefully, will do in another guide. But, there is something you can do to clean up some space and make room for Dota 2 to run more efficiently. Every time the game crashes, it creates a dump file in the Dota 2 folder. Each file can be more than 40MB in space and can take up a lot of your hard drive. Delete all of the files named having “.mdmp” extension in the following location;

People generally install their games in the default C Drive. We do not advise you to that and in turn, recommend you to install all of your games on drives other than C Drive and leave it only for Windows.

Dealing With Antivirus

Antivirus though are good and help secure your computer from threats and attacks, are, however, also a problem for online gamers. This is because Antivirus keeps on running no matter what you are doing. Even when playing Dota 2 you would have to bear with your Antivirus running in the background. To make sure this does not cause ping spikes in Dota 2, turn of/ disable your Antivirus while playing.

In case you think it’s too risky for you, we recommend you to install Antivirus that has a gaming mode feature. This allows the antivirus to run on the lowest settings making an almost negligible effect on your computer’s performance. The best option we can recommend you is Avast Antivirus.

Graphic Settings

Not everyone has a GTX 980 installed on their computer. If you are one of those money bags then this step is not for you. However, if you are among the thousands of Dota 2 players that play the game on a medium end PC then setting the optimal video settings is a must. The general rule of thumb in this aspect is to always prioritize game performance over game graphics.

Firstly you must use the most appropriate resolution for the game. Dota 2 ping spikes in many cases can be due to your resolution being too high for your computer to handle. Below is a picture for you to set the resolution and rendering of Dota 2. Note that Rendering is set to Fastest which means the removal of all the visuals that do not have an impact on the game.

You can also see that each bar automatically ticks the options shown below. Set the bar according to what you think your computer can handle.

Kill Ping: The Last Resort

The points above were based over issues on the user end, if done right will help you in reducing Dota 2 ping spikes. However, if you have done all the things mentioned above and still having solved the problem then the problem is most probably on the network side. Below is an example of what Ping Spikes actually look like.

As evident from the picture, the sudden rise of response time is what results in ping spikes in Dota 2. This generally happens if there is too much load over the ISP or the route game data is taking towards the game server. Luckily in this regards, Kill Ping can greatly reduce Dota 2 ping spikes and enhance your overall game experience. The way Kill Ping works is a bit difficult to summarize, however, simplifying the mechanism, Kill Ping reroutes the game data through its own dedicated channel from its strategically place servers around the globe.

This way, the game data that generally faces congestion through a normal route is redirected from a much clear and open path. Furthermore, the number of hops that game data takes from a computer to the game server is also reduced. This happens because Kill Ping forces it to take the path that creates the least distance.

Final Words

So in case you are done with trying out all the steps described above and still are having Dota 2 ping spikes than we strongly recommend you to try Kill Ping. Almost all of Kill Ping users who faced Dota 2 ping spikes in the past are now free from the misery and experience a smooth game they could only dream of. Try it out for yourself and see the difference.

SumaiL

This article is a player stub. You can help Liquipedia by expanding it.

Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan is a Professional Dota 2 player born in Karachi, Pakistan. He most recently was the midlane player for Evil Geniuses. As of September 2019, he is no longer on the active roster of Evil Geniuses.

Contents

Dota 2 [ edit ]

Sumail first started playing Dota when he was eight years old. When his family moved from Pakistan to Rosemont, Illinois in 2012 he began playing in the North American Elite League. Sumail quickly became the highest rated player in the in-house league, establishing himself as one of the best upcoming talents in the North American scene. [1] His play was so impressive that UNiVeRsE pushed for EG to recruit him in January of 2015. Sumail’s LAN debut was at the Dota 2 League Season 5 finals in Las Vegas on January 6th 2015. The team performed poorly at the event, in part to lack luster performance by Sumail. Critics began to question whether he deserved a roster spot on a team like Evil Geniuses.

In February, Sumail would get a chance to redeem himself as EG participated in the Dota 2 Asia Championships. In his first match of the tournament, Sumail introduced his Euls Scepter of Divinity Shadow Fiend build, which would quickly become part of the meta for the tournament. EG’s captain ppd entered the tournament with a focus on drafting around Sumail, in order to ensure he was comfortable in game. This proved to be quite successful as EG found themselves in the top 4, with an 11-4 record, after the group stage. EG stormed through the upper bracket beating Na’Vi and Big God, but were soundly defeated 2-0 by VG in the upper bracket finals. After a 2-0 victory over the tournament favorite Team Secret in the lower bracket finals, EG had a rematch with VG in the finals. In the finals Sumail established himself as one of the best mid players in the world with his stellar play. Sumail’s most notable performance of the tournament was in Game 3 of the finals, where he found himself with a 0-3-0 score on Storm Spirit before the three minute mark. Undeterred by the poor start, Sumail quickly took control of the game and led his team to victory, while finishing with a score of 17-7-11. Sumail’s breakout performance at DAC led to widespread recognition as a young prodigy in both the Chinese and Western Dota scenes, and secured a reputation as one of the best Storm Spirit players in the game. Sumail helped EG establish themselves as the best team in the beginning of 2015, along with securing $1,284,158 USD for the team.

EG entered The International 2015 as one of the two favorites along with Team Secret; EG had finished 2nd behind Secret at each of the previous two LAN tournaments, The Summit 3 and ESL One Frankfurt 2015. Team Secret finished in 8th place, leaving the way to the championship open for EG. However, EG experienced a setback of their own after losing the Upper Bracket Finals 0-2 to the surprise wildcard powerhouse CDEC Gaming. EG defeated LGD Gaming in the Lower Bracket Finals and prevailed 3-1 in a rematch with CDEC in the Grand Finals to claim the International 2015 championship. Sumail’s play was particularly noteworthy in both the Lower Bracket Finals and the Grand Finals – Game 1 of the Grand Finals was eerily reminiscent of Sumail’s experience in DAC, as Sumail died 3 times on his signature Storm Spirit in the opening moments of the game, but proceeded to complete the fastest Orch >[2]

Following the tournament saw the departure of Aui_2000 for Arteezy. He finished second place in the MLG 2015 World Finals and came third in Valve’s inaugural announcement of the Majors system, the Frankfurt Major 2015, losing to potential champions, OG in the lower bracket finals. Ending the 2015 calendar year, ppd’s decision to draft the Shadow Fiend for sumaiL in the grand finals of the The Summit 4 saw the team making an eventual comeback of 3-2, winning the tournament.

In 2016, SumaiL started off in a slow start and finished third in the Shanghai Major. However after numerous roster changes throughout the year saw his team exit in the early stages of premier tournaments. After the announcement of being directly invited to The International 2016, saw a roster change to occur with the addition of Zai and Universe, causing the team to have to play in the open qualifiers. After qualifying, he attended The International 2016 for the second successive time under Evil Geniuses and came third place in the tournament. After the extended post-TI break, he travelled to China to compete in the MDL Autumn 2016 and came first place. [3]

Making Scrappy Work:

There are a few important things to keep in mind in order to have success with a Scrappy strategy:

  1. In the early game, you should get to (4) Scrappy as fast as possible – this gives you a good-enough frontline for the mid game. Getting to (6) Scrappy is possible, but it is not a must and you can comfortably play a (4) Scrappy draft with other synergies (usually Mages and/or Warlocks).
  2. Your heroes (especially Clock and Tinker) receive a considerable upgrade on three stars. With a Scrappy strat, getting three-star upgrades is usually a higher priority than getting to lvl10 (or even 9 in some games).
  3. The secondary synergies you want to aim for are Assassins, Warlocks, Mages, possibly Hunters. The reason is that Warlocks are easy to get (you already have Alchemist in your lineup) and make you even harder to kill, while Mages buffs your DPS the most – many Scrappy units deal considerable magic damage (the Inventor explosions are also magic). Assassins, on the other hand, work great with the (6) Scrappy survivability buff.

Best Scrappy Builds:

Scrappy is not the most flexible Alliance in the game. There are generally speaking a few viable build options (ordered from the strongest to the weakest).

  1. Scrappy + Assassins, usually using the full (6) Scrappy bonus and a three-star Slark, ideally with MoM.
  2. Scrappy + Mages, using the fact that the Inventor explosions deal very high magic damage, especially with Techies, the inventor Mage.
  3. Scrappy + Warlocks, abusing the very high survivability of the lineup to out-last most opponents.
  4. Scrappy + Hunters, using Scrappies as a tanky frontline and Hunters as a damage-dealing backline.

The build has two keys to success:

  • The full (6) Scrappy bonus
  • A three-star Slark with a good item (MoM, Moonshard)

The other heroes are interchangeable. For example, Shadow Fiend + Alchemist give good sustain and might save your Slark if he’s on low HP, but losing the SF in favor of a high-star level Phantom Assassin is certainly a more than viable option.

The build uses Scrappies as a durable frontline and Mages as a damage-dealing backline, but the main reason it works is the synergy between Mages and Inventors. Ther Inventor explosions (especially with the Chain Reaction from the Techies Ace bonus) deal extremely high magic damage, and it gets amplified by the Mage bonus resistance reduction.

It’s worth noting that your most important three-star upgrade is Tinker because on three-stars he has an extremely short cooldown on his Rockets and as a result – a very high magic damage output.

The option above is certainly viable, but ideally, with Inventors + Mages, you aim to get to lvl10. The reason is that this way you can include the full (6) Mage and (4) Inventor bonuses:

It’s important to keep in mind that the Inventor explosions happen in melee range. This means the build is much better versus clumped-up melee drafts (Knights, Warriors) compared to spread-out ranged drafts (Primordial/Mages, Hunters).

In the example build above it’s entirely possible to replace a two-star Timber or Clock with a Gyrocopter. You will lose the (4) Scrappy bonus, but Gyro deals additional AoE damage with his ultimate, which makes it worth it most of the time.

The idea with (6) Scrappy (4) Warlocks is the same as in Warlock/Warriors. The durable Scrappy synergy combined with the insane sustain from (4) Warlocks makes the draft almost impossible to kill. The benefit of Scrappy/Warlocks is that you can get the full bonus on lvl9, unlike the Warlock/Warriors who need lvl10.

The problem with these sorts of drafts is that they don’t have a clear source of damage. In this case, the two highest DPS heroes are usually Tinker and Shadow Fiend and they are your highest upgrade priority. Getting to lvl10 could be beneficial (you can include either Troll Warlord for the (2) Trolls bonus, or Gyrocopter for the (2) Deadeye if your Sniper is on three stars). That said, it’s not mandatory and you can invest in three-star upgrades instead.

Scrappy/Hunters is the least popular but still viable option. It’s possible to go for a (6) Hunter (4) Scrappy draft, but the (6) Scrappy option above is also viable. The main carry in this draft is Sniper. Getting him to three Stars and combining him with Gyro for the (2) Deadeye bonus is a great idea. Dota 2 shadow fiend builds The defensive nature of the (6) Scrappy draft also benefits the Terrorblade – he becomes much harder to kill and has more time to auto-attack and deal damage.
