How to Fix Dota 2 Crashes

How to Fix Dota 2 Crashes

How to Fix Dota 2 Crashes

In case you experience frequent Dota 2 crashes while loading the game or during the game-play, then you need to read this article. You can follow all applicable solutions. These solutions are good for almost all operating systems. In case you face any issue in any of the steps, you can contact me and I can help/guide you with it. I have tested all these methods and those all work perfectly for me.

It is not necessary to apply all the solutions, but you can apply as many as possible or needed.

1. Set Auto Config Launch

There are some predefined values in the game launcher settings. You can use those to fix some of the issues. So you can set the Auto Config mode as described and shown below:

  1. Open Steam and click Library.
  2. Right-click Dota 2 and select “Properties”.
  3. A New Window will open like the image below. Click “Set Launch Options” as highlighted below. If there is there is any other lunch option already present, remove it and type “-autoconfig“.
  • Click OK and start your game now.
  • 2. Set Safe Launch

Still, if you get crashes after Auto Config mode, you should try “Safe Launch Mode” the same way as we did above.

    1. Repeat Steps 1-2 from the above paragraph.
    2. Click “Set Launch Options“, remove existing value (if there any) and type “-safe“.
    3. Click OK and restart the game. It will start your game in safe mode with normal settings and most probably issues will be fixed.

    3. Change Process Affinity

This seems to be very geeky fix, but actually, it is not. Sometimes Dota 2 does not use the full potential of your CPU properly and you do not get enough power to run Dota 2. Therefore it crashes. Process Affinity can be changed very easily and it gives your game full power of your CPU and Processors.

    1. Start Steam and Start Dota 2.
    2. Press Alt + Tab or Windows keys to minimize Dota 2 and switch to your desktop.
    3. Right-click the Taskbar, select “Task Manager”.
    4. If you are running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, then you will have to click the Processes tab. Windows 8 and Windows 10 users to click the “Details” tab.
    5. Find process “dota2.exe“. Right click on it and select “Set Affinity” as you can see in the image above.
    6. A New Window will open from where you can select how many CPU cores you want to allow Dota 2 to use. Select all cores available. As can be seen in the image below. Then click “Ok“.
    7. Close Task Manager and Check your Dota 2 now. It should fix your Dota 2 crashes problem.

    4. Change the NV >NVidia Control Panel contains several graphical settings. You should set recommended settings in it because that works perfectly for most of the users. In case Recommended settings don’t work for you, you can always try other settings to tweak what works best for you.

    1. Click the Start button.
    2. Next click NV >Same Settings can be applied for ATI Radeon graphics cards as well by following almost the same steps as of NVidia Graphic Cards.

    5. Disable Switchable Graphics

If you do not have dual graphic Cards, then you should leave this step and skip to the next one.

Nowadays almost all the PCs and Laptops have 2 graphic Cards by default. What happens is, one graphics card is of ATI Radeon or NV >If there are 2 Graphics Cards in your system, then there must be an option in your BIOS settings from where you can tell your CPU about the way it should use your Graphics Card. Sometimes these graphics card issues also cause Dota 2 crashes. In this step, we will disable the switching process. We will make sure that our secondary Graphic Card (ATI Radeon or NVidia) should be used is more powerful.

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. Go to BIOS settings by pressing F2, F12 or Delete key (Whichever is applicable to your system).
    3. BIOS Settings page will open.
    4. Search for a setting called “Switchable Graphics“.
    5. Disable it.
    6. Select Save settings and exit.

    6. Reset Texture and Render Quality Settings

Sometimes your video setting in Dota 2 are too high and your system cannot bear that, which causes extra load on your Graphics Card and overall whole system too. So you must optimize those video settings completely according to your needs. Best is to reset the texture and render quality settings as shown below:

    1. Start your Dota 2 game.
    2. Click Settings in top left corner, then come to Video Options.
    3. Set lower Texture and higher Render Quality.
    4. Click the Save Settings button, exit and restart your Dota 2.

    7. Verify Cache Files Integrity

Verify integrity of the game cache files.

    1. Open Steam.
    2. Click Library
    3. Right-click the Dota 2 and select Properties.
    4. In top Menu, click on Local Files tab. Then select “Verify Integrity of Game Cache“. You must ensure that the game is not running at the time you are verifying the cache Files Integrity. Once the process is complete, click OK and you will be good to go.

    8. Reinstall Steam

Sometimes Dota 2 crashes due to corrupt files. These may be corrupt Steam files or it may be corrupt Dota 2 Files. So let’s try the small solution first.

    1. Exit Steam completely.
    2. Go to Control Panel, then Programs and select Uninstall a Program.
    3. Uninstall steam completely. Do not uninstall your Dota 2 at this step . I am just talking about reinstalling steam. Don’t worry, if you uninstall steam nothing will happen to your Dota 2 files.
    4. Go to Official Steam Site and install a new copy of Steam and once you have installed, it will automatically pick Dota 2.
    5. If you want to be safer, then you need to copy your Dota 2 files to some other drive. You can find your Dota 2 Folder in C:Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/dota 2 beta. Necrophorus dota 2 middle is missing This folder “Dota 2 Beta” is the main folder which has all your game-related files.

    9. Reinstall Steam + Dota 2

If all above methods fail, then its time to take the sour pill. You have to uninstall and then reinstall your Dota 2 and Steam. It will hopefully fix your issues. The complete process of Reinstalling Dota 2 with the backup method is explained here.

    10. Using VPN Softwares

WTFast is one of the best VPN software which is designed to reduce your pings and packet losses. It also takes care of your lags issue. If your game is unplayable even after changing your ISP, then its time for you to take it for a spin. The good thing is, it offers a free 7 days trial version with full options.

In case you are running Windows 10, then you should also have a look at this article Dota 2 on Windows 10 – Problems and Solutions. It will surely help you fix your lags and delays issues.

Set in 1912, players assume the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the flying city of Columbia on a rescue mission. His target? Elizabeth, imprisoned since childhood. During their daring escape, Booker and Elizabeth form a powerful bond — one that lets Booker augment his own abilities with her world-altering control over the environment. Together, they fight from high-speed Sky-Lines, in the streets and houses of Columbia, on giant zeppelins, and in the clouds, all while learning to harness an expanding arsenal of weapons and abilities, and immersing players in a story that is not only steeped in profound thrills and surprises, but also invests its characters with what Game Informer called ‘An amazing experience from beginning to end.'”

So apparently you can abuse max distance now with hurricane pike + tp +moonshard? that is actually fkying gay
    I take back my word

Well guess the era for bambi is over? The 6.87 nerf hit her so hard, with her max damage decreasing from 375/500/625 to 245/315/385, as well as the change in Dragon Lance composition. Back to support life for her again it seems.

I’m honestly quite sad because she has grown on me quite a bit. And imo I don’t think they even need to nerf her this much (nerfing some bit is understandable, since she is indeed too op) considering that burst teams and naix can take her out like no tmr, as long as you focus her down at the start of teamfights.

♥♥♥♥ING PUT HER WITH THE NEW ITEMS AND SHES STILL A ♥♥♥♥ING BEAST

I think that most people read that incorrectly. The direct damage nerf is of course having quite an impact, the range change more rarely, despite it reading so dramatically. 25% to 22% means that she is dealing 9% less bonus damage on each impetus attack. Like, if she’d deal 200 regular attack damage and 100 bonus damage, then she is now dealing 200 damage and 91 bonus damage. That’s the damage percentage nerf.

The range nerf sounds huge but I don’t think it actually is.
The cast range of Impetus with Aghs is 740. This stays the same.
The max range is now 1750 instead of 2500.
How often did you hit the max range? How often was an opponent more than three times your max throwing distance away? Nearly never. Most often, when Enchantress attacks somebody, the enemy is within her max throwing distance, or, when fleeing, between her max throwing distance and twice of that. And all that is still within her new max range.

Enchant is ‘hard carry’ now? Fml.

From now on, every time I see enchant I’ll pick troll, just so that I can hear that line – http://hydra-media. Dota 2 wtf moments 740 cursecdn. com/dota2.gamepedia. Dota 2 wtf moments 740 com/f/fd/Troll_rival_23.mp3

enchantress isnt thatt hardd carry, more position 2. she tanks like a beast and hits like a ♥♥♥♥ing tank. still vulnerable to magic dmg, get a bkb and shes still bambi

Just played Gyro. no global calldown? WTF?
Damage reduced, WTF. He is now about as much use as a paper plane.

So it looks likie all the hero’s I like playing as support got nerfed. youre ♥♥♥♥♥ kidding me. So it now tanks.

As for the “New ” Earthshaker. op’ed before with his stun, now op’ed with stun and jump. really?

I think that most people read that incorrectly. The direct damage nerf is of course having quite an impact, the range change more rarely, despite it reading so dramatically. 25% to 22% means that she is dealing 9% less bonus damage on each impetus attack. The big problem is, just trying to level her as she is so squishy early game, so its more a reward if she does grow a pair late game.

Its not often her death rate isnt exacly low.

It is also possible that next time you launch Dota 2, you may face this issue again. 1st 3 methods are temporary solutions whereas method 4 and 5 are permanent solutions. Right now if you think that there might be some fix by official Dota 2 developers, then you are wrong and you may need to wait for a long time to get a permanent solution from Steam + Valve.

    Method 1

Follow these simple steps to get rid of Connecting to Dota 2 Game Coordinator issue.

    1. Sign in to Steam and start Dota 2
    2. If your Dota 2 Start with “Connecting to Dota 2 Game Coordinator” error, then click on “Play Dota 2” in the bottom right corner and select “Practice with Bots” and in next option select “Solo”.

    6. Disconnect the game by clicking on the “Disconnect” button in the bottom right corner.
    7. Enjoy, your issue is solved now and you can search for a normal game now 🙂

    Method 2

Alternately you can also get rid of this issue by Going to Learn tab and then starting a Learn game in the left-most column. You will have to follow all steps from step #3 – 7.

If you do not understand anything given in the above lines, then just watch this video below and I hope this issue is solved for you.

    Method 3

    This is a permanent solution

This may sound strange to you but its one of the best and permanent method to get rid of connecting to Dota 2 game coordinator error. Download this software WTFast for free. Run this software and then run your game and start feeling the difference. Annoying connecting to Dota 2 game coordinator error will be gone forever. How? This is a software specially developed for the sole purpose of reducing pings, lags and improving the connection with game servers. You have the option to use different servers if one is not working. This way, if one server is down, no issue, you can connect to another one.

    Method 4

    This is a permanent solution

    1. If Dota 2 and Steam are running, close it.

    2. Right click Steam icon on your desktop and then click “Properties

    3. You will see “Target” and this address will be present there. “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam. exe

    4. Now at the end of this line, add space and “-tcp“. It will become like this.“C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam. exe” – tcp

    5. Click “Apply” then click “Ok

    6. Now launch Steam then start Dota 2 normally.

    7. Your issue must be fixed by now 🙂

    Method 5

    1. If your Dota 2 is running, close it.
    2. Now, open Steam and then click on the Steam tab at the upper left corner of your screen.
    3. Click on settings. The setting menu will pop up now.
    4. Click on download at the left side of the menu.
    5. Find download region and change to any other server and click ok.
    6. Now restart steam and finally change your download region back to original one. Although even if you do not change, it won’t make much of a difference for small updates.

    Method 6

I have not tested this method personally. You can try this method and if it works, please let us know in the comments below.

    1. log in to http://store. steampowered. com/
    2. Search for Dota 2 in the Steam store by typing Dota 2 in the search bar or just by clicking this link.
    3. Click the “Play” button and hopefully everything will be fixed.

Credits for method 5 and 6 go to the comment posters below.

    GAMERS DECIDE

    New Season New Teams

The Dota 2 Pro scene is forever a changing landscape and now that the post-TI lineup changes have concluded, and the teams have had their chance to play in a full Major and the Qualifier for another, it is time to speculate on which teams could be the top of the new season.

    10. TNC Predator

TNC Predator tied with PSG. LGD at the Kuala Lumpur Major, and finished in 2nd place for the Southeast Asia Qualifier for Chongqing behind Fnatic. Their Chongqing Qualifier performance, however, could’ve been negatively impacted by a Valve mandated banning of Kuku from the tournament and losing a Captain is no minor inconvenience. Clearly they have the skill and teamwork to Qualify for the Major, but as their down a Captain in Kuku it will be hard to judge their true potential regardless of their Chongqing standings – but a full powered TNC Predator could be a force.

    Playing for TNC Predator:

    9. NIP

Ninjas in Pyjamas, can never get over that name, finished 4th place in the Kuala Lumpur Major and holds the 4th most DPC points for this year. The team is only 3 months old and already had a high standing in a Major – clearly the talent is present, but will they have the teamwork to last the entire year?

    8. VG

VG tied with Fnatic at the Kuala Lumpur Major and had a solid showing in last year’s Circuit. The team has had a 3 player roster change of picking up Yang, Fade, and Dy dropping eLeVeN, LaNm, and Fenrir. VG is set to play in DPL Season 6 and if their performance picks up then they could be a promising team to follow into the year.

    7. Forward Gaming

Time to get into the grey areas, Forward have finished 2nd place in two Major Qualifiers but have overcome their problems with EG, losing 0-2 in Kuala Qualifier and 1-2 in the Kuala Major only to turn around with a 2-0 in the Chongqing Qualifier. This rising team shows great potential for the upcoming season and the Chongqing Major will be a testing ground for them to hopefully triumph upon.

    6. Fnatic

The 4th place TI finishers have changed their roster and still finished 2nd in the PVP Esports Championship, ahead of PSG. LGD but losing 2-3 to Secret. Clearly the potential of this team can be seen.

    5. EG

3rd place Kuala Lumpur finishers and 3rd place 2018-2019 DPC standing team EG shows no roster changes and no chance of slowing down.

    4. Liquid

Team Liquid proved they still have what it takes during the Chongqing Major Qualifiers by completely clowning around in style and still making 2nd. These previous TI winners show they still got it and half of Dota is actually enjoying the game and this team surely does.

Same as ever, Liquid’s players are:

    3. PSG. LGD

The 2nd place team out of TI, PSG. LGD showed great consistency last year. This team roster has been together since January 2018 and their 3rd place DPC ranking last year feels very earned, making up for their Kuala Lumpur performance. For all we know PSG. LGD will have their shot at TI again this year.

The players on PSG. LGD are:

    2. Secret

Secret finished in 4th place for the DPC rankings last year and suffered during the TI event. They have since dropped Ace and Fata for Nisha and Zai and finished 2nd place in the Kuala Lumpur Major. Their early strength for the new Circuit has been further shown in the Chongqing Major finishing 1st in their Qualifier over Liquid – however, Liquid may have not been trying as hard as expected.

    Secret’s roster consists of:

    1. Virtus Pro

VP have been a powerhouse since last year’s circuit and continue to show a strong dominance early in 2019. VP are currently leading the DPC charts for this year which shows major stability for this team as they also finished last year with the highest DPC. VP took 1st place in the Kuala Lumpur Major, continuing their trend of early Major dominance. With the stability this team shows maybe this year will be their Aegis.

    Beginner’s Gu > 11 Aug 2014 0 Games

So you’ve heard about Dota 2 from your friends, colleagues or perhaps on some gaming community website. Maybe you consider yourself a gamer; not hardcore, but more than just casual iPhone games on the bus or train. You’ve played the odd strategy title, commanded armies, managed resources and fought epic battles. You’re ready for this. So you download through Steam, get home from work and feel like giving it a shot. You sit down, briefly tussle with the interface, and manage to start a search for a game. “I can skip the tutorials, I’ll figure it out as I go.” is your thought as the search finishes, the game loads and you enter your first Dota game.

Skip to five minutes in. There are great chunks of your hair strewn around your desk, screaming frustration, sadness and rage at you as you feverishly tear your gaze away from the monitor. You look for your mouse, and find it embedded in the wall next to the keyboard-shaped indent. Your ears are bleeding from the horrific personal abuse over voice-chat, your screen is filled with cries of “Noob!”, “Omg stop feeding”, and….. the dreaded “Uninstall please”. My mistake, there are no manners or expectations of polite behaviour in Dota, so forget the “please” and insert personal insult comprised of abuse and hatred. Oh and don’t forget the CAPS WHICH DENOTE SHOUTING AND ANGER.

So you emerge from your first game of Dota dazed, bleeding and sad. Those same friendly internet folk you’ve met in forums, Facebook and Twitter have somehow mutated into savage, howling beasts determined to make your online experience equivalent to Hell. It is the first time you have finished a gaming session in tears, and far from enjoying your supposed ‘playtime’ you hated every second of it.

How did this happen? Aren’t games supposed to be about having fun? Isn’t online multiplayer a fun way to interact with others for a shared enjoyable experience?

Welcome to Dota 2. You have arrived in a new world of gaming, one which doesn’t play by the usual rules and regulations. Friendliness, forgiveness and fun have been replaced by another F-word, which howls through the atmosphere of Dota World like hatred personified in weather form. Dota World does NOT welcome strangers, has no welcome doormats where you can wipe your shoes, and is frustrating, soul-destroying and hostile to navigate as a newcomer. But not to worry, this guide is here to help.

There are many beginner guides out there; this one aims to address the psychology of Dota and how you should approach your entry into Dota World mentally. Dota is not a game where you can sit down for a while and then walk away from; it is a fully fledged sub-culture you must dive into heart and soul, mind and body, for better or worse. Mostly worse, at least in the beginning.

First rule: do not take things personally. If you are ever going to learn to actually enjoy playing Dota, you MUST not take to heart the things people say and type at you. Remember this is no ordinary online interaction. Dota-based online interaction takes place within the context of savage competition, in a ruthless winner-takes-all arena where losers are vilified, abused and ostracised. In order to survive long enough to actually learn the ropes, your mindset must be able to ignore negative external feedback and focus on individual improvement. In any normal community you would try to learn from external feedback, negative or otherwise, assuming it was in any part constructive. In Dota, 99% of feedback will be negative and absolutely unconstructive, being comprised of colourful personal insults and nothing else. Ignore it, concentrate on learning the basics, move on to the next soul-shattering defeat.

Second rule of Dota Club: be prepared to lose. A lot. Dota is a competitive game; players – both on your team and the opposition – will strive their utmost to beat you, and there is no sympathy for beginners. People will take ruthless advantage of the fact that you have no idea what you’re doing. Even if you’re not naturally competitive, the nature of the game makes losing extremely painful and frustrating. Allow me to explain.

In Dota, you control one character. If that character is killed, you come back to life after a short wait. If you are on the losing team, this can happen repeatedly within a short space of time. Even as a beginner with no understanding of how the game works, every single time you die you are brutally reminded of how bad you are. Over the course of a 30 minute game, it is very possible to die over 20 times. Momentum is hard to break in Dota – once you start losing (and dying) it’s very hard to stop, and the feeling of helplessness carries over into subsequent games. While you are learning the basics of Dota you WILL end up feeling helplessly stuck in an endless cycle of painful, frustrating losses. The important thing is to learn to accept the situation, and not let any short term anguish affect your long term outlook on learning Dota. Dota 2 krobelus responses to sympathy

The third rule is perhaps the most important: you must be patient. Dota is a wonderfully complex game, despite its simplistic appearance, and will take a lot of game-time and research to master. On the surface it seems deceptively simple: it feels like an RTS (real time strategy) but instead of a base and armies you only have to control one character. Beneath the surface, however, lurk countless game mechanics which all interact with each other in complex, arbitrary and sometimes even hidden, ways. These include but are definitely not limited to: item choice, gold management, last hitting / denying, experience gain / hero level, vision / warding, spell radius / range / cooldowns, tower push / split-push / defend, Roshan…… you get my point. Oh and there are currently 107 heroes you can choose to control each game, each with unique abilities and unique interactions with the other 106.

Still want to give it a go? Dota is definitely not for the faint-hearted, and has a steeper learning curve than Everest. Read this guide, Google others, play some bots before you play a real match. Just be prepared for a long, frustrating, painful learning process which will continue as long as you play Dota. Dota 2 krobelus responses to sympathy And know that at some point, the rewards will be great, for make no mistake: Dota is possibly the most engaging, replayable online multiplayer game out there.

Crystal Maiden is an efficient support who specializes in slowing enemies. Her highly valued Arcane Aura increases mana regeneration for all her teammates, while she remains effective throughout the game with very little items. In large fights, she can channel a Freezing Field to obliterate enemies over a w >Frostbite to target individuals. However, Crystal Maiden is quite fragile even compared to other supports, and is one of the slowest heroes in the game.

    • Numerous slows with high cast range.
    • Great at killing jungle creeps to catch up.
    • Not item dependent.

    Crystal Nova [ edit ]

    • Crystal Nova is a large area of effect nuke that also slows enemies’ movement and attack speed.
    • Use Crystal Nova to harass enemies out of lane. The movement and attack speed slows should prevent the enemies from fighting back with attacks.
    • Crystal Nova’s long cast range and w >Frostbite [ edit ]
    • Frostbite roots the target enemy while also disarming them and dealing damage over time.
    • Frostbite can be a strong disable due to its ability to instantly immobilize an enemy. While it does not prevent enemies from casting spells, it can inhibit teleport abilities, as well as Charge of Darkness and Phase Shift . Depending on the enemy lineup, maxing out Frostbite first can give Crystal Ma >Arcane Aura [ edit ]

Casting the active on yourself prior to jumping in with your ultimate can give you a little extra time to channel it, allowing you to deal more damage. In other situations, it can give you or an ally the ability to stealthily initiate on targets you have vision on, or can be used as an escape or survivability tool by granting someone on your team invisibility and greatly increased magic resistance.
    • Blink Dagger augments Crystal Maiden’s mobility, allowing her to instantly jump within range for locking down enemy heroes with her disables. The improved mobility also allows her to move around the map more easily to support her teammates, or escape pursuing enemies.

Phew! With The International over, the Dota 2 away team is now recuperating back in Seattle, re-watching footage from the tournament and debating which bits should make the highlight reel.

Three clips jump out as particularly amazing escapes:

Although Tobi no doubt deserves a highlight reel of his own, these following clips are Tobi at his most entertaining:

    A Champion has been Crowned

After five days of fierce competition team Na’Vi has won the million dollar grand prize, beating out EHOME in a best of five elimination series. Na’Vi started the final series out one game ahead due to its privileged position in the winner’s bracket, but EHOME quickly evened up the score by winning the first game. Na’Vi surged back to win the next two games in a row, securing their place in Dota 2 history and becoming the first Champions of the Dota 2 International Tournament. EHOME doesn’t leave empty handed though, they take home $250,000 for their second place finish.

In all, $1,600,000 in prize money was won by eight teams over five days. Congratulations to all the winners.

We’d like to thank XSplit, Limelite Networks, own3D. tv, and Level 3 Communications for their support during the tournament.

What Does A Champion Truly Need?

The big news for Saturday is from the winners bracket; Na`Vi has advanced to the finals by beating Scythe. SG in two straight games. This victory also spots Na`Vi a win in the final series so they are already up against their undecided foe one game to nil.

In the losers bracket MYM was eliminated by EHOME. MYM is sent home with $80,000 and EHOME advances to Sunday’s playoff against Scythe. SG – the same team that sent them down to the loser bracket with a resounding defeat on Friday.

Sunday will start with the best of three elimination series. The loser walks away with $150,000 and the winner will face Na`Vi in the championship match. In the final match the loser there earns a healthy $250,000 but it all pales in comparison to the ultimate champion and their $1,000,000 payday.

Can Scythe. SG turn it around after Saturday’s crushing defeat by Na`Vi and rise up against the two opponents that have beaten them at every meeting?

Can EHOME rise up out of the losers bracket and get revenge against Scythe. SG and then go on to defeat Na`Vi?

Or will the powerhouse of the tournament Na`Vi keep rolling over every opponent in its path?

The questions start getting answered Sunday morning in Germany at 10am CET. The final match to decide it all begins at 1pm local time in Germany or 7pm in China and Singapore, 2 pm in the Ukraine, or even 4am at Valve’s Head Quarters in Seattle. Watch them all live at Dota2.com.

    Player Excitement Level

You may have seen graphs displaying the players’ excitement levels displayed periodically during The International tournament matches. This biofeedback data is collected using a wristband with custom hardware and works by measuring the electrical conductivity of the skin and sending signals to the player’s PC. The game collects this data continuously and plots the last two minutes of the player’s biofeedback history. Swings in a player’s emotional state, both positively and negatively, are represented by spikes in the graph.
