One of the handiest features of Dota 2 is its built in Hero Builds and Hero Build maker. The system allows you to pull up a whole selection of builds made by other players right in the game where it will highlight what to build and what abilities to put points into. The other half of it, the Hero Build Maker, gives you the tools to make your own builds and load them up in game for your own use, or share them with other players to be rated and commented on. The process is very simple and allows you to make as many builds as you want, for any of the heroes in the game.

The first step in making a new build is to head over to http://www. dota2.com/workshop/builds and log in to your steam account. Select “New Hero Build” and you’re on your way.

The next screen is where you can choose the hero you are creating a build for. They’re all there and can be filtered many different ways to narrow down the one you want. Simply Select your hero and you’ll be taken to the build creation screen where the real fun starts.

For starters you’re going to want to give your build a name. Try to go with something that describes what the build is about but also will make it appeal to other players if you plan on publishing it to the steam community. Franks All Damage Drow is good example of being descriptive and packing a punch in the style department.

Item Build

Next up you get the chance to add an item build. Both the item and ability builds are optional and you can have one without the other, but if you want to make a quality full featured build, you should include them both. When you add the item build an interface will pop up with a display of all the items in the game along with some categories to the left. These categories are “Starting Items” “Early Game” “Core Items” “Situational Items” and “New Items” ( allows you to create a custom category).

Each of these categories represents the order in which you should be buying the items, as well as which items are more crucial to the build (core items are the key to a build). Once you’ve got your item build planned out, simply drag and drop the items into the boxes you want them in and you’re done. In game the player will see these categories complete with their items when they open the shop menu.

Note: Author notes can be added to any item you wish by simply left clicking on it. Notes can be a great way to explain your item choices, or give some more detail on how they should be used.

Ability Build

Your Ability Build is the next and final step, and is actually the simplest one to complete. Each of the heroes abilities has 25 check boxes representing each level they could attain in a match. As you can only put one point in one ability per level, check off one ability per row all the way up to 25.

Note: You can also add notes to each of the abilities by left clicking on the ability image.

The builder has a few helpful hints built into it to keep you on the right track. It will not allow you to put a point into your ultimate until level 6, it wont allow you to chose more than one ability per level, and it will detect when an ability has been maxed and will not allow you to put more points into it.

Once you have your ability build completed you are ready to save your Hero Build. After saving, you will be returned to the Build front page and should see your newly created build under “Your Steam Cloud Builds”. Selecting the arrow to the right of the build name will allow you to view, edit, remove, or publish your build for all to use on the steam community.

Dota 2 Crashes “failed to lock vertex buffer in CVertexBufferDx9”

When I play Dota2, immediately I am taking “failed to lock vertex buffer in CVertexBufferDx9” and I have to close the game. I can start the game again but I am taking same errors (sometimes after 2 mins, sometimes after 5 mins) again and again. I have directx 12 version and my driver nvidia 630m. I already verified dota 2 folders. Also, I deleted the game and steam and I installed them again. It did not work. Before the error, red and blue squares occurs on my monitor. HELP ME PLS.

630m is a crap notebook card plagued by such issues, and since you get red and blue squares. it points towards it being faulty and on it’s way to the graveyard.
Make sure you have the latest drivers from your notebook manufacturer for both the nvidia and the intel onboard gpu’s.
TDR Manipulator might help, read upon that.

Like I said, 630m is crap, very old Fermi power-hungry, hot crap. Can’t expect much from it, specially if it was hosted in a non-brand notebook without adequate cooling.

I can not open the image for TDR. Could you send it again please? I am taking similiar error in CS:GO. The only solution looks like buying new computer but sometimes solutions are not affordable. Also, I cannot open user. cfg link. Idk why? If you able to, can you send that, too? Thanks for your help.

Btw, I changed thermal grease two weeks ago and one week ago everything was perfect. My laptop’s brand is Acer. I am still trying to handle it.

For some reason you cant add Dota2 To quicklaunch. It doesnt work. And if you add the exe inside the game folder to quicklaunch the game starts but because it wasnt started with steam you cant play after starting it. Another way to add it is to have Dota 2 running and then rightclick and Pin to task bar. But even then if you close the game and try to launch it again, the game starts but you still cant do anything. Please fix this.

right click on dota 2 in steam library > create a shortcut in desktop

or pin steam in taskbar > right click on steam icon > dota 2

or just have steam autostart with windows > right click on steam icon > dota 2

I want it in quicklaunch taskbar. Taskbar is not locked and you cant add it there. I do have it on desktop.

If you pin it that way, you can open the game, but it doesnt work, Here is what happens if its launched that way, or launched directly from the exe.

Now about the issue. yes, my solution was not perfect but you obviously did not do as I said cause if you did, you’d say “right click on desktop icon” does not have PIN option.

So here is the new instruction:

right click on dota 2 in steam library > create a shortcut in desktop > go to properties of that shortcut > copy the url

right click on desktop > new > shortcut > type explorer paste the url > save

So if the url is steam://rungameid/570 type explorer steam://rungameid/570

Now right click on this new shortcut > pin to taskbar

So you have to go through all that just to pin a game to the taskbar? Also I think OP wants to not have to look at a little folder icon instead of the Dota2 symbol. I don’t understand why Steam decided to make it so you have to do all of this just to simply be able to run a game from the task bar. Pretty stupid. Also typical “mod” stroking his epeen because someone called him an idiot. Grow up, you clearly never once had any fix for the problem he is stating. He even told you that he tried exactly what you said before you even said it. The OP obv doesn’t want some work around as his thread CLEAR AS DAY states. “Dota2 ICON,” not COPY LINKS AND HAVE SOME FAKE ICON BE ON THE TASK BAR. For the record I myself all ready have a couple of those icons on my taskbar for different directories, and I don’t feel like having to try to memorize which is which. Valve should take initiative and do what EVERY other game out there can do already. How do they expect people with little knowledge of how computers work to figure out how to run it from the taskbar?

Biography [ edit ]

On June 16th, 2013, Solo received a lifetime ban from StarLadder for betting fraud against zRage. [1] On the 21st, Solo was officially removed from RoX after admitting his involvement. [2] Later, the ban was commuted to one year. [3]

The amount that Solo won from betting against his own team was $322, although he never received the money. Since then, Dota commentators and viewers frequently use the phrase “322” to mock particularly bad plays, implying that it almost appears that the player in question is attempting to throw the game.

He was playing on Rox. KIS for the first half of 2014 and after unsuccessful attempt dropped in TI4 qualifiers. The Rox squad disbanded and after TI4 Solo joined Team Empire. He has won Excellent Moscow Cup and left the team in December 2014.

In 2015 Solo turned up with his new team XX5 Gaming but this team had no great achievements and disbanded in a couple months later.

Later he joined Vega Squadron. Having won Hitbox EU Championship #2, Yard G2A Fest Ep.1 and Mountain Trail Challenge the team secured a slot in TI5 European Qualifiers. Vega achieved a Wild-Card slot in the qualifiers. At The International they lost to CDEC 1-2, won Team Archon 2-0 and lost to MVP Phoenix 2-1 and did not go further the tournament. Despite the fact that the team failed at TI, it didn’t disband. Vega won ESL One New York European Qualifier then won ESL One New York 2015 by beating EG, IG and Team Secret. The victory let Vega participate at The Frankfurt Major 2015 where they finished 9-12.

Vega couldn’t participate at Shanghai and Manila Majors and failed in TI6 qualifiers.

Later, in August, Virtus. Pro announced their new Dota 2 squad with XBOCT, God, Noone, Lil and Solo. The final roster was Ramzes666, Noone, 9pasha, Lil, Solo.

In October the team received an invitation to The Boston Major 2016 Europe Qualifier and managed to qualify for The Boston Major 2016. They placed 5th-8th after a 2-0 loss to Evil Geniuses.

Solo and his team set out to prove that notion wrong at the DotA Summit 7, where they drafted 81 of the 112 available heroes in 17 games. The team had 16 drafts with entirely unique heroes, but Solo re-picked heroes in game 5 of the Grand Finals to ensure a victory over Team Secret and a first place finish at a Premiere tournament, securing them a direct invite to The International 2017.

Solo games don’t have to suck.

All us casual Dota 2 players know it. The feeling of dread and uncertainty before you jump into a game of solo ranked. At times, it’s like Russian roulette. What am I going to be getting myself into this game? Am I going to be matched with the guy who screeches at me in a language I don’t understand for 60 minutes? Or maybe I’ll be teamed up with the dude who paid £50 for his account, and is way way worse than his visible MMR suggests. Or maybe I’ll be matched into a team full of lovely people who want to enjoy the game as much as I do.

I fully understand why many people stay as far away from Dota 2 as they physically can. The community can, at times, be absolutely disgusting. For some of us with groups of friends this isn’t as much of an issue. However, for those of you who want to improve your solo match making rating. Or if you’re thinking about getting into Dota, but its community is putting you off—these tips for getting more out of solo games are for you.

The mute button

This tip is an extremely obvious one. The mute button is there for a reason. If someone in your team is being abusive towards you or anyone else, and it’s making you feel uncomfortable, don’t be afraid to mute them. If someone is of the disposition to abuse other people over the internet, you’ll find there’s probably no point arguing with them. The Dota community can be garbage, but you’ll find even if someone is being horrible over voice or text they will still play to win (no one likes losing). So do the obvious thing, just press mute.

Play Custom Games between matches

This one is not so obvious. A year or so ago Valve introduced the Arcade to Dota 2—an addition that isn’t used nearly enough. Say you’ve just finished a game that has gone horribly, some asshole in your team just spent the entire game flaming you. Before queuing again spend 15 minutes in a game of overthrow. It’ll make you forget about the game you just had, and possibly help you remember that Dota 2 is a fun game sometimes. Overthrow is also a great way of practicing different heroes. A lot of professional players use the custom game before big matches, to get themselves warmed up on specific heroes. There are plenty of other custom games that can help you blow off steam as well. Dota Imba is a personal favourite of mine, especially the 10 vs 10 mode.

Pick one hero and really learn it

Maybe you’ve always wanted to be an amazing Axe player, so pick that hero a few times in a row when you queue solo. Really get to grips with the hero. Some of the best games of Dota I’ve played have been when I’ve decided, ‘you know what, I’ve always wanted to learn to play Arc Warden/Meepo’ and just played them over and over in unranked games. The desire to get good on whatever specific hero you chose will motivate you through difficult solo games. This is also a fantastic way of getting something out of a game that you’ve probably lost. Learning a hero, even in a losing game (as long as it’s close-ish) usually feels like you’ve done something productive—as you learn stuff that’s good against that specific hero.

Watch Dota

If you’re lacking motivation to play this can be one of the best ways to fall back in love with Dota 2. For me personally watching replays of pro games from an individual player’s perspective is a great motivator and makes me excited to play Dota. Be nice to people

Think out loud

If you don’t have the luxury of playing with a group of friends, sometimes saying your game plans and ideas out loud to yourself can be helpful. It can help you catch mistakes before you make them, or coax you out of bad habits. When you think about it, it’s pretty much what streamers do. This is something that works well for me personally. It’s a great in game stress relief to get all your thoughts out and in front of you. Just don’t be surprised when anyone that hears you doing this thinks you’re mad.

Don’t get hung up on MMR

You might be 1k MMR, you might be 7k MMR. Whatever. It’s not important to anyone other than yourself. If you play Dota for fun, then remember to have fun. I use my MMR as a personal gauge of how much I’ve improved over the 6 years or so that I’ve played Dota. Solo dread dota 2 And guess what, it’s not actually that much, but I don’t care. Learn a lot of Heroes

Take time to learn heroes, if you feel comfortable on a large number of heroes in every role you will feel a lot more confident queuing solo.

Take a Break

If you’re finding yourself getting more and more stressed with each passing game, maybe you’re on a losing streak or something. Just take a few days off Dota.
