Gaming Performance Comparison

Recommended System Requirements
Game Celeron G1840 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz
Red Dead Redemption 2 282% 236%
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 183% 149%
Star Wars: Jedi – Fallen Order 321% 271%
Halo: Reach 58% 39%
FIFA 20 173% 140%
Cyberpunk 2077 224% 185%

eFootball PES 2020 214% 176%
Borderlands 3 282% 236%
Need For Speed Heat 223% 184%

In terms of overall gaming performance, the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz is noticeably better than the Intel Celeron G1840 2.8GHz when it comes to running the latest games. This also means it will be less likely to bottleneck more powerful GPUs, allowing them to achieve more of their gaming performance potential.

The Celeron G1840 2.8GHz was released over three years more recently than the Core 2 Duo , and so the Celeron G1840 2.8GHz is likely to have far better levels of support, and will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the Core 2 Duo when running the latest games.

The Celeron G1840 2.8GHz and the Core 2 Duo both have 2 cores, and so are quite likely to struggle with the latest games, or at least bottleneck high-end graphics cards when running them. With a decent accompanying GPU, the Celeron G1840 2.8GHz and the Core 2 Duo may still be able to run slightly older games fairly effectively.

More important for gaming than the number of cores and threads is the clock rate. Problematically, unless the two CPUs are from the same family, this can only serve as a general guide and nothing like an exact comparison, because the clock cycles per instruction (CPI) will vary so much.

The Celeron G1840 2.8GHz and Core 2 Duo are not from the same family of CPUs, so their clock speeds are by no means directly comparable. Bear in mind, then, that while the Core 2 Duo has a 0.2 GHz faster frequency, this is not always an indicator that it will be superior in performance, despite frequency being crucial when trying to avoid GPU bottlenecking. As such, we need to look elsewhere for more reliable comparisons.

Aside from the clock rate, the next-most important CPU features for PC game performance are L2 and L3 cache size. Faster than RAM, the more cache available, the more data that can be stored for lightning-fast retrieval. L1 Cache is not usually an issue anymore for gaming, with most high-end CPUs eking out about the same L1 performance, and L2 is more important than L3 – but L3 is still important if you want to reach the highest levels of performance. Bear in mind that although it is better to have a larger cache, the larger it is, the higher the latency, so a balance has to be struck.

The Core 2 Duo has a 5632 KB bigger L2 cache than the Celeron G1840 2.8GHz , and although the Core 2 Duo does not appear to have an L3 cache, its larger L2 cache means that it wins out in this area. Celeron g1840 dota 2

The maximum Thermal Design Power is the power in Watts that the CPU will consume in the worst case scenario. The lithography is the semiconductor manufacturing technology being used to create the CPU – the smaller this is, the more transistors that can be fit into the CPU, and the closer the connections. For both the lithography and the TDP, it is the lower the better, because a lower number means a lower amount of power is necessary to run the CPU, and consequently a lower amount of heat is produced.

The Celeron G1840 2.8GHz has a 12 Watt lower Maximum TDP than the Core 2 Duo , and was created with a 23 nm smaller manufacturing technology. What this means is the Celeron G1840 2.8GHz will consume slightly less power and consequently produce less heat, enabling more prolonged computational tasks with fewer adverse effects. This will lower your yearly electricity bill slightly, as well as prevent you from having to invest in extra cooling mechanisms (unless you overclock).

General DiscussionIs DotA 2 dying?

u started an account to see your stats and posted on a forum for dota 2. so nope

if u’r 1k mmr u will feel that

I dont think that it is dead but my higher mmr friends believe it is dying. I honestly disagree but i’ve recently heard alot of people agreeing.

Dead game for sure, people living patch to patch on meta heroes but fun died in this game a long time ago.

higher mmr friends believe it is dying.

can you please tell me what you see as higher mmr friends.

yeah inhouses should come back other than that the games fine

we also need to keep in mind that unfortunately our opinions as 5k+ players are kinda irrelevant in the great scheme cuz we’re just 0.1% of the playerbase, the fucking 2k normies are the ones who decide if the game is dying or not

No. People are just way too dramatic.

been dead for a long time now

1 million players at the same time, 12 million monthly users
It’s not been higher, so if anything it’s growing.

Just look at statistics instead of asking autisitc people on a dota forum

Can someone party with me guys? I’m just a 2.7 scrub and I really want to get out of that bracket. I’m willing to learn. Thanks

12 million players 2 weeks ago
Gained 200k new players til today

idk m8 but im back on my losing streak for this patch again.

prize pools that shit on any other game’s tournaments.

Hell, LoL’s grand-fancy-worldchampionship prizepool is shat on by smaller majors.

Up to TI4 the game was perfect after that its just been Inbalance after Inbalance
PA spamm followed by Sniper / troll spamm Storm spamm followed by Windrunner spamm followed by Huskar spamm

ratting is a bit back now but was dead up till now since TI4
And teampush aswell

it seems like carry being carrying is back a bit too instead of the of The solo mid carrying everything.

Still its a bit of patches to go to get back to the good old days where you could play varius diffrent styles and still have a 50/50 shot at winning instead of The play carrying solo mid with husk or wr (metashit) or only 5% change to win.

Dead game would be game that has no player base and no tournaments whatsoever, there is no acctual dead. Dota 2 is not even close to dead and new players are always emerging, maybe young players are not used to dead games so they think game is dead even it is not. Getting online, having 100 active friends in all mmr ranges is kinda alive. Maybe problem is on higher levels, or on pro level, but it is understandable, since not many players can achieve that level and join that club, so it seems dead specially when some of them stop playing or leave for other game.

Personally I think it has already reached its peak at TI5 and now slowly declining

If decline is case, we would see dota 3 coming out, not new patches. It might be normal that there is loss in interest between two TI’s. Let’s wait and see what happens when hype kicks in. Game slike Dota 2 that are so much releveant in e-sports and have such huge amount of money involved do not just ‘die’.

^they just introduced dota3 (=dota 2 reborn)

its dieing personally for me. i think a lot of players become frustrated by the weak ranking system and boring meta plays.

i just have to find a game, which can replace dota. Esl one liquipedia dota 2 mb the division, once it comes out in march. looks promising anyways.

But it is still dota2 with new interface. Sorry, didn’t know it counts as new dota game. Rank system has it flaws for sure, game meta changes, some heros from top tier picks go back to mid or low, it is how it is. You can always say good bye to dota and come back whenever you like, start from 0 and find way to enjoy it, but I doubt it will die so easily.

Meta sapm has been present since forever. Nightmares of 6.57 DP and Necro still haunt me. Morph in 6.64. Zombie post rework. etc.

Game was actually dying during reborn beta, and post reborn release due to people being unfamiliar with the main menu, hipsters complaining that the old one was better (when it’s NOT, the old one was super basic, good, but too basic)(arcade mode is amazing) and all the bugs and glitches that came with reborn dropped the population, now numbers are high again.

I don’t get how people can say TI 2 and 3 had more players, uh, it didn’t, I didn’t play back then, but the statistics are there, game has grown ALOT. Prize money for tournaments is higher, MOBAS are STILL ON THE RISE (hence why tons of moba clones are coming out like crazy) PC gaming is on the rise (Dota or counter strike usually being the first games people hear of on Steam) Also, when the International 2011 was happening, Twitch was barely being born, and the game didn’t get nearly as much coverage back then as it does now. (seeing as Twitch is now main stream, and everyone has a Twitch account these days)

Many many casuals play games for the first time cause they thought it looked interesting when watching it on Twitch, Twitch has done ALOT more for gaming than people think.
Game is fine.

Looks 2 me like the game is just growing! Sure some people have given up on the game, but they should be ignored. There’ll always be players passionate about dota, just as there’ll be people who are shall we say less keen on the game. I normally play by myself now, as my friends have started playing less or moved away, but I still have a gr8 time every game! There are some complete dickheads but a lot of gr8 people & there always will be.
Dying or otherwise, it’s a personal choice 2 play the game.

Morphling/Old Abilities

  • This ability was replaced by Adaptive Strike (Agility) and Adaptive Strike (Strength) in the 7.07 gameplay patch.
  • The projectile travels at a speed of 1150.
  • The multiplier and stun values are not fixed. They adapt linearly in smooth intervals depending on the difference between Morphling’s agility and strength.
  • The values change with each percent difference between agility and strength, even when it is just a minimal change.
  • The multiplier and stun values also count bonus attributes, not only base attributes.
  • When the current agility is 50% higher than the strength, the damage multiplier stops increasing and the stun duration stops decreasing.
  • When the current strength is 50% higher than the agility, the damage multiplier stops decreasing and the stun duration stops increasing.
  • The knock back uses the same rules as the stun, it stops decreasing when agility is 50% higher than strength, and stops increasing when strength is 50% higher.
  • Knock back distance ranges from 100 to 300 units, knock back speed is 1000.
  • Checks Morphling’s stats upon projectile impact.
  • Targeted neutral creeps do not draw aggro from lane creeps and towers and are ignored by auto-attacks and attack-move orders for 6 seconds.
  • This ability was replaced by Morph in the 7.07 gameplay patch.
  • Replicate cannot be cast on the caster themselves or any illusions under their control.
    • However, any illusion under allied or enemy control can be targeted, including illusions of Morphling under their control.
  • When the illusion is created, this ability is temporarily replaced by Morph Replicate (pre 7.07) until the illusion disappears.
  • Both, the illusion and Morphling have a timer above them, showing how many seconds are left for the illusion to expire. This timer is only visible to Morphling.
  • When replicating an ally, the illusion carries the ally’s name, instead of Morphling’s, so enemies cannot tell if it is just a replicate, or the real hero.
  • The illusion spawns 108 range away from the target if the hero has a collision size of 24, and 72 if the collision size is 8. It appears either north, east, south or west from the target.
  • Faceless Void replicates are able to walk ins >Chronosphere . A replicate created from an allied Faceless Vo >Rubick and his stolen Chronosphere.
  • Once purchased, Morphling cannot drop or sell his Aghanim’s Scepter .
  • This ability belonged to Replicate and was removed together with it in the 7.07 gameplay patch.
  • Replaces Replicate until the illusion expires or this ability is cast.
  • Despite being a sub-spell, Morph Replicate does proc all on-cast effects like a regular spell.
  • Disjoints projectiles upon cast.
  • The illusion disappears when Morphling uses this ability.
  • Can be cast successfully even while the replicate is invulnerable or hidden.
  • When the illusion’s ownership changes, Morph Replicate still fully works.
  • This ability was added in the 6.84 gameplay patch and removed in 7.07.
  • Requires Aghanim’s Scepter to be unlocked.
  • Can only be cast on allied heroes, including their illusions. Cannot be cast on any illusion of Morphling.
  • The Hybr >Spell Steal . The rules can be viewed here.
  • It cannot level up any abilities. Their levels are equal to what the original hero had them on as the Hybrid was created.
  • The Hybrid can fully use any passive ability of the hero, if they can affect illusions. This includes passive ultimates.
  • If a buff gets carried over to illusions upon creation (like most transformation spells), the Hybrid illusion gets it as well. This includes buffs from ultimates.
  • If the targeted ally has Aghanim’s Scepter, the Hybrid gets its spells upgraded as well.
  • The illusion’s attributes mirror Morphling’s base attributes. They are set upon cast and do not adapt dynamically. Attributes gained from Morphling’s items do not affect the illusion.
  • The illusion spawns 108 range away from the target if the hero has a collision size of 24, and 72 if the collision size is 8. It appears either north, east, south or west from the target.
  • The illusion has a timer above it, showing how many seconds are left for the illusion to expire. This timer is only visible to Morphling.
  • Unlike most other illusions, illusions created by Hybrid have no bounty.
  • This ability got reworked into the following Adaptive Strike (6.60-7.06f) in the 6.60 gameplay patch.
  • Either damages, or stuns and knocks back.
  • Damages if agility is higher than strength, stuns and knocks back if strength is higher than agility, even if it is just 1 point higher.
  • If agility and strength are even, it applies all effects, damage, stun and knockback.

Dota 2 Lore – V >

I am a really huge lore fan so I’ve decided to start making some Youtube videos related to the Heroes Lore. I am sure that some of you have probably noticed our videos, but for those of you who haven’t, please check them out and tell me your opinion. Lore videos are rather basic – we take the stories presented by Valve and add some of our stuff to make them slightly longer and more interesting.

Take a look at our first video for Beastmaster;

And if you want, check out our latest video for Jakiro;

Compare the original lore and our “improved” version and tell me if we are doing a good job. Is there something you would like to see changed? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Also, do you think if there is a chance to make a complete Dota 2 background story, not related to the exact Heroes? For example, season 1 could be related to the creation of the world, season 2 could be wrapped around the ancients and their Great War (introduce Roshan as an ancient general), then season 3 could introduce the first Heroes that came to this land destroyed by the Ancient Wars.. Possibilities are endless of course, but there is a slight problem; I saw that Valve has started making their own version, but it seems that they don’t update it too often. Would it be a bad move from me to take over the project from them and make my own version with my team? Tell me what you think!

It’s great, i watched it few days ago and was wondering will you make new one

LIKEEE! i can see those as a great script for someone to make a great video with the source moviemaker!
also ur narration is really good!

Wouldn’t call these ‘improved’ in any way. Full of clichйs and unnecessary changes. Imo.

Okay, those are terrible. Just a bit of an opinion of mine. The improvements mostly serve to make the stories more boring and mundane, the voice is really not to my liking, and the drawings. seriously? It’s okay-ish if you aren’t actually looking at the video, but the drawings – please do try and draw a line between mock epic stories and openly crude and intentionally caricaturic illustrations.

I don’t think I would weep if you were to deal away either with the series altogether or with the changes you make to the existing backstories. And as for the world genesis and all that stuff, I’d say that it is not the brighest idea. Dota 2 lore dota cinema youtube Valve are unpredictable, they might as well just redo everything or start piling up new chunks of backstory.

Plus, if anyone were to make a series about the world’s supposed genesis and the first Heroes, I’d honestly like them to be. well, not you.

Oh and adding some mandatory constructive criticism because otherwise people will dub me a hater, when you change the existing backstory, try to elaborate on what is already told and give it in greater detail. Don’t come up with loads and loads and loads of unnecessary, subjectively stupid stuff. Instead of adding new characters or hardly giving a damn about the original (see Bane), dive deeper into what is already there.

How Dota 2’s ranked recalibration works

Here’s everything you need to know about the new ranked season.

This article is brought to you by StatBanana, the best Dota 2 strategy tool.

Ranked season is once again here in the Dota 2 community. Since the introduction of seasonal ranks by Valve, players have had to get used to recalibrating every few months.

It can be a stressful period, especially for those aiming for high medals. For those who haven’t recalibrated, good luck and have fun. For those who have, there might be some unanswered questions running through your head.

Here’s everything you need to know about some of the more complicated aspects of ranked Dota 2.

How much MMR can you gain or lose during recalibration?

During recalibration, your MMR will be hidden until you’ve completed 10 matches. While there’s no official word from Valve regarding its formula, the MMR gain and loss for each recalibration match is roughly multiplied by three.

With the average MMR change being 25, this means that each win or loss will be amplified to 75. Theoretically, winning all 10 matches will mean you walk away with 750 MMR. The converse is equally true, however.

Do personal stats affect MMR gain during recalibration?

No, they don’t. Valve is working on better detection of smurfs, however, which could affect players with large winning or losing streaks.

A new account’s ranked calibration used to take personal stats into account. A hero dealing high amounts of magic damage or a hero healing, for example, would see increased gains in MMR. After Valve determined that they caused abuse, the developer adjusted it to become either a small factor or practically nothing at all.

In Dota 2, only taking down the Ancient matters. No matter how well you’ve played, you’ll gain the same amount of MMR as the rest of your teammates.

Valve talked about introducing a new system to “more aggressively [place] you into a more accurate initial rank” based on the account’s history and performance. While it’s unlikely to affect accounts with large amounts of playtime, it could impact players who are just starting their first ranked season. More details will likely be available from Valve as the season wears on.

Does the new Core and Support MMR system affect my rank?

For those with a high variance between the two MMRs, it’s likely that you might have received a massive downgrade of your preferred rank after recalibration.

A Valve dev confirmed that it was a recalibration bug and the fix has already been pushed out to the game. Soon, you’ll be able to see your actual MMR.

Valve also confirmed that it’ll continue experimenting with the new ranked season, including a percentage increment of the other MMR that you aren’t playing. Even if you only spam Core MMR, your Support MMR will increase along with it.

In the long run, the smaller support player pool might mean that core and support players of the same MMR might have wildly-differing ranks. With role abuse being taken more seriously, it’s likely that stellar support players who stick to their roles will rise quickly.

Why did my medal go down even with a winning record?

Even if your MMR increased compared to last season, your medal might have dropped in rank. This isn’t a bug but it’s a side effect of the decreased player pool.

Medal ranks in Dota 2 don’t have a set hard limit. Rather, they’re a fluid value adjusted accordingly to the relative skill level of the player pool. While there are no official numbers, according to a third-party MMR distribution website, Immortal players are practically in the 100 percentile, while Divine players are roughly in the 99 percentile.

At the beginning of the season, fewer players would have recalibrated their rank account. Therefore, despite having the same MMR as before, you might be ranked lower, percentile-wise, in regards to the rest of the player pool. As such, you’ll have a lower medal.

As the season progresses, it’ll be easier to climb to a higher medal. A player who calibrated at the beginning of the season and then plays one game months later could jump several medal ranks. This is why numberless Immortal-ranked players exist at the end of the season. While the medal rank has a fluid percentile value, leaderboard ranks are hard-coded at around 5600 MMR.

Remember, MMR is just a number. It can be exhilarating to jump several ranks during recalibration and just as soul-crushing to lose it. The most important objective in Dota 2 is to have fun, followed by taking down the Ancient. If you start getting upset over the game, take a break and come back. Dota 2 isn’t going to run away.

Dota 2 patch 6.86 released, first pro games happening right now

Update 16th December, 2015: The patch is now live to download through Steam, after a day of bugfixing and other bits and bobs on the test server. I sure hope they fixed everything. Wouldn’t be like Valve to release content that hadn’t been tested properly now, would it?

Now would be a good time to play some nice Dota 2 custom games and forget your troubles.

If you’re interested in watching some pro games, esteemed PCGamesN contributor Chris Higgins points me at this arhiveof Virtus Pro vs. Team STARK, part of the MarsTV Dota 2 League, which was the first Dota game of 6.86 played. Mid-series, even. What a fun trainwreck it was.

Meanwhile the World Cyber Arena has started, a much-maligned but nevertheless massively-prize-pooled Chinese tournaments with some of the best teams in the world, including Secret and all the major Chinese teams. The streams are split across BeyondTheSummitand the pair of JoinDota streams, Red and Blue. It’s running until Monday, and will be the final tournament of the year as well as the first tournament on 6.86.

Update 15th December, 2015: The full patch notes are now available for The Balance of Power, as the patch is officially known. It adds a hero, Arc Warden, four new items, redesigns Riki, Doom, Death Prophet, Faceless Void, Lone Druid and Winter Wyrvern. Perhaps most terrifying of all, Earth Spirit (along with Oracle and Terrorblade) has been added to Captain’s Mode.

You can read the full patch notes on the official site. Here’s the highlights:

  • Added Arcane Rune, reduces cooldowns and mana costs.
  • Added a new neutral hard camp for each team, near their respective Secret Shops.
  • Iron Branch can now be used by targeting the ground, planting a happy little tree.
  • The usual billion and a half hero and item changes.

Original article:Dota 2’s next massive patch is just around the corner, but patch notes for 6.86 haven’t yet appeared. Instead there’s a teaser site, memes and anger. Just what the doctor ordered.

The teaser site has a nice big image of a team containing current-patch all star Doom and lesser friends Lone Druid (bear not pictured), Faceless Void, Rikimaru and Death Prophet. All the community’s digging and theorising and possibility considering has resulted in nothing of any possible worth being gleaned from that, but gosh have they tried:

Meanwhile the thread on Reddit linking to it so far has 5000+ upvotes in a little over an hour, which is impressive work for something that is, as the flair says, “literally nothing.”

We’ll keep this post updated with whatever comes to pass. In the mean time, here’s proof that the Dota 2 Test Client has been changed today, another sign the patch should be coming soon, were one needed. For now, the waiting game continues.

Best eSports Tournaments in the World in 2019

Dota Asia Championships (DAC)

The Dota2 Asia Championships holds the number 1 spot among the best eSports tournaments in the world in 2019. Perfect World and MarsTV arranged this competition known as The Oriental. Several great teams had their direct invitations to the qualifiers. The thematic format of the tournament received huge praise over the globe. Besides, the release of a compendium and the size of the total prize pool also created a buzz in the media. T15 dota 2 tournament manila

This tournament also made sensations for the unusual difference of the location of the LAN finals being in Shanghai, China, a city in the East. Not so much as Seattle, Washington, USA or Cologne, Germany, cities in the West, the DAC 2015 has since been referred to as The International of the East.

The Manila Major

At number 2 in our list, the Manila Major is the third event of Valve’s Dota Major Championships. The main event venue is at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. The Manila Major 2016 is the third seasonal Valve-sponsored Major to be arranged, after the Shanghai Major 2016. The event would be organized by Romanian gaming company PGL eSports, and take place between June 7th – 12th at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

Like previous Majors, it had featured 16 teams competing for a total prize pool of $3 million USD. Promotional item information was on full throttle. The main event took place at the Mall of Asia Arena from June 7–12, 2016.

The DOTA 2 International

At number 3 of the best eSports tournaments in 2019, The International Dota 2 Championships 2015 was the fifth annual edition of The International. The tournament was organized in Seattle for its fourth consecutive year, and the second consecutive year that the Main Event venue was at KeyArena, a multi-purpose arena in Seattle Center with a total seating capacity of over 17,000.

This tournament created a buzz way before it started as it acclaimed as the biggest event of one of the most popular online games. The tournament was formally announced on January 7, 2015. Notably, the Main Event at KeyArena had featured 16 teams, an increase from the 8 of The International 2014.

The Annual International

Seattle, Washington, hosted the International Dota 2 Championships. The city hosted the fourth edition of The International for the third consecutive year. Unlike the previous two years though, the tournament was held at the KeyArena, which is a multi-purpose arena in Seattle Center with a total seating capacity of over 17,000 people.

A grand total of 16 teams had competed in the main event of the tournament. 11 of these players received a direct invite, while 4 teams had to qualify through separate regional qualifiers. Besides, the runners-up in those qualifiers achieved one last shot at competing for the final spot in the main tournament.

If you give him a basher , power treads , diffusal blade , manta style , vladimir offering , and scepter he can beat just about any carry. He has a built in crit , and his ulti against a single target is usually a kill or takes atleast half their health. With this build ive been able to dominate a drow and a phantom assassin numerous times. Blink is often an issue i understand , but with a diffusal blade most of the time it removes the mana needed to use by the time your forced to ulti to save yourself. In general all he needs is a basher and a life steal and he can go toe to toe with just about any carry. He has a good amount of attack speed , one of the best 1 on 1 uti’s’s and a crit plus a healing ward.

uhhhhhh lol wat.

that item build is ? i dunno noob? vlads on jug? why you have ward thats plenty manta style? waste of $ df blade LOL that is a first ive seen jug going for a df blade in all my years of playing dota basher is another not so good item for jug some odd items you get scept is good i get scept for him but SyN also good item for him i would get phase boots only to run faster and unit walking just my 2 cents if it helps

Try the build , 1 on 1 you can pretty much dominate any carry. Bash stops them from running or fighting back , while defusal wipes out thier mana and it has a slow you can cast plus mana burns damage. manta > s&y , manta gives more agility to hit harder and to attack faster, and it gives stats and illusions that help in a fight. phase boots are good for chasing but with this build you can pretty much ground them and not let them escape. Try the build before you call me noob just because its not the standard build doesn’t mean it does not work .
