Here is a quick little picture guide that will help you in activating the console and help you setup the Net Graph which will help you keep track of your ping, frame rate and other connection parameters.

What is the console?

The console is a text-based IO interface where you can enter pre-defined commands to change some settings in a game. In simpler words, it’s just a window where you can enter some codes and fine tune the game to suit your needs.

Step 1: Go to Library > Dota 2 > Properties

Step 2: Then go to Set Launch Options and enable the console here by typing in “-console” in the tab that opens up.

Press OK and exit the tabs. Now start the game.

Step 3: When you start the game, you should now see the console loading up.

When the console is activated, you won’t be able to use the game. You can press the grave accent (`) (the button next to 1 – the tilde key) key to toggle between your game and the console.

You can use any desired commands in the console following this.

Step 4: (Optional) Dota 2 allows users to re-assign their console hotkey. You can do this in Options > Controls > Metagame tab.

Now that you have your console setup, you can find all dota related commands under the dota_ prefix. To go through them, just type dota in the console and scroll down.

WARNING: It is suggested that you do not mess with these settings and configurations if you do not understand what they are. You may affected your game completely and might have to re-install.

Visit the Dota 2 Wiki Console Commands [www. dota2wiki. com] page to learn more about these console commands.

One of the main reasons why people activate the console is to activate the net graph that gives them access to their ping to the server, frame rate and other useful info. Here are some quick tips from my very old guide to get a unhindered net graph in Dota 2.

Type net_graph 1 in the console to activate the net graph.

Once you have done this, you will find a bunch of numbers pop up on your screen and they maybe too big and covering up a lot of stuff a bit too much for your liking. You can tweak the size of location of the net_graph by using the following commands.

  • net_graphheight – Adjusts the height of the Net Graph display
  • net_graphinsetbottom – Defines the position of your Net Graph in relation to the bottom of your screen.
  • net_graphinsetleft – Defines the position of your Net Graph in relation to the left hand side of your screen.
  • net_graphinsetright – Defines the position of your Net Graph in relation to the right hand side of your screen.
  • net_graphinsettop – Defines the position of your Net Graph in relation to the top of your screen.
  • net_graphpos – Toggles the position of your Net Graph (either 0 or 1)
  • net_graphproportionalfont – Toggles font size to be proportional to your resolution (either 0 or 1)
  • net_graphtext – Toggles the text of the Net Graph (either 0 or 1)

On a monitor running with a resolution of 1920x1080px, use the following settings to get a beautifully placed net_graph like you see in the image below. (Remember that these values change for every resolution so you will need to tinker a bit to get the results that you like.)

net_graphheight 64
net_graphinsetbottom 437
net_graphinsetleft 0
net_graphinsetright -30
net_graphpos 1
net_graphproportionalfont 0
net_graphtext 1

For 1366×768 resolution: (thanks Raccoonix from the comments)

net_graphheight 64
net_graphinsetbottom 422
net_graphinsetleft 0
net_graphinsetright -130
net_graphpos 1
net_graphproportionalfont 0
net_graphtext 1

Here are some extra additonal net_graph commands. Do not use them if you do not know how they function.

  • net_graphshowlatency – Toggles the latency of the Net Graph (either 0 or 1)
  • net_graphmsecs – The latency graph represents this many milliseconds
  • net_graphshowinterp – Draws the interpolation graph

D2L Season 2
Playoff Preview

With so many leagues drawing to a close these days, it would be easy to miss something like D2L. It’s been chugging along for a while now, and after months of league play we’re just entering the playoffs. Empire, Liquid, Dignitas, and Fnatic. EU are in the running for the $5000 first place prize, and with these four teams there you can rest assured that competition is going to be fierce.

TL writer Tephus has a quick League Recap for those of you who missed the regular season, and a Playoff Preview to get you excited for the double elimination style playoff bracket that will be played out soon.

Finally, by popular demand, we have a Playoff Poll. Vote for who you think will face each other in the finals, and then come back on game day to boast about your Dota 2 clairvoyance. Called it!

League Recap

By Tephus

With the last game having been played a few weeks ago, and the league taking place over a four month period (and three separate balance patches), fans may wish to brush up on how the final teams came to be.

Featuring the top teams from the EU and NA regions, the group stage ended extremely tightly, including a three way tie. Due to the limited number of final qualifying spots, numerous high tier teams like No Tidehunter, Natus Vincere, and Virtus. pro were eliminated prior to the bracket stages. The D2L also saw the tragic fall of the mTw organisation and the disbandment of the remaining team, Redefining Madness, and possibly forecast the split of Team 3DMAX. On the other hand, the tournament started only days after Team Liquid was announced, and has been a great tournament to follow the team’s growth.

Empire claimed the top seed spot, impressively only dropping two matches in a pretty stacked league. With a three way tie in match scores between Dignitas, Fnatic. EU, and Team Liquid, the tie-breaking process was decided by total map wins and then by inter-team play. Let’s preview each team a little more in depth, going into the final bracket.

Playoff Preview

By Tephus

Empire

Empire are coming in fresh off of a disappointing showing in the Star Ladder finals on their home turf, managing just a single map win. On the other hand, just a couple weeks ago they took home first place in the CIS-only Techlabs Cup. These radical differences in play exemplify some of the inconsistency plaguing Empire over the past couple months. In The Defense, they came out of the group stages in first place, but did not manage to win a series in the large playoff bracket. Even their recent overall record shows this; they have only won 3 of their last 10, but the 15 games prior to that only include 2 losses.

Empire is clearly nowhere near showing the dominance they achieved a few months ago, and many people will attribute this to their recent roster shuffle. Moving Scandal to the offlane to make room for their famous fresh recruit, Vigoss, has also raised a few eyebrows. For Empire to see success here, Vigoss must once again display his historic ability to dominate a game, and all the other gears will need to return to their pre-shakeup form.

Fnatic

As recently as a month ago, Fnatic were in top form, displaying some of the strongest play in Europe. They won the DotaHut Invitational in convincing fashion, and came out undefeated in their The Defense groups. Even after their first round loss in The Defense, they managed to scrap their way through the loser’s bracket, only to lose in the finals by a single map. They are currently even holding on to second place in The Premier League.

Unfortunately, Fnatic have started to slip in the past month or so, dropping sets to top NA and EU teams. Most uncharacteristically, they were even eliminated early in the Ritmix RDL, not managing to win a single match. Luckily, their recent Achilles’ Heel of Virtus. pro, who has terrorized the squad by winning 5 of their last 6 meetings, will not be in attendance. They are also coming fresh off a second place finish in Starladder, perhaps a sign they are back in top form, and their poor results were only a blip. Also, with VP already out of the way, Fnatic may be able to cruise to a win here.

Team Liquid

Recently putting together an incredible winning streak, Liquid has received a lot of attention in the Dota world, but the last couple weeks has seen a few ups and downs. While they finished first in their group in the DreamHack Invitational, and are currently leading The Premier League, they didn’t manage a single win in their EMS One group. Most recently, they finished 4th (just out of the money) in Ritmix, and reached second place in the second Eizo Cup.

Liquid has a good chance of finding success here, assuming they continue to play at their best. While they are not in the middle of a 20 match win streak any longer, they have still been performing well, and come into the finals with a good record recently versus Fnatic and Empire.

Dignitas

While perhaps slumping over the past couple months, the return of Sneyking has appeared to revitalized the second NA Dota team in attendance, as Dignitas put on an extremely strong showing at the recent Ritmix Dota 2 League with a first place finish. Dignitas are also riding a seven match win streak into this event, which includes a win over their first round matchup Fnatic.

Should Dignitas continue to ride their current wave, they will be a scary opponent for any team coming against them. If for some reason some of the magic fades, they can still fall back on some very unique pocket strats which have earned them wins in the past.

Call the finals, and then come back here later so you can gloat about your amazing prediction skills!

The Reach beta has concluded and the team is now working hard towards the Season 1 launch. Here we share some of the details on the upcoming Season, and what players can expect when they log in to play.

The new patch is wild, with all the positive and maybe some negative connotations this word implies. As such, we are trying to be extremely cautious when discussing it so that we don’t unnecessarily invoke some misguided disenchantment from the community.

62 new items are available for finding, not purchasing. You can now build your inventory through jungling and not spending your gold. Is this good? Bad? Who knows, it’s too early to tell.

The Reach Beta has been a valuable month for us at Elo. The feedback from our community has allowed us to make considerable progress in refining the key automated systems of the platform and we couldn’t possibly be more excited to see people begin to play in Season One.

This is going to be less of a stats recap and more of a farewell to a patch, which overstayed its welcome for at least a couple of months. Instead of going over the same heroes once more, we felt it is more appropriate to highlight some of the heroes which were outside of the meta at the tournament’s start, but nevertheless had a great impact in the later stages of MDL Chengdu.

Bounty runes, come back gold, ancient creeps, camps stacking, and more. The economy of Dota keeps growing and growing but how does that affect supports and cores?

We’ve done a lot of testing with our current systems in the Reach league and are finally confident in opening it up to more users. Divine level players may now participate in Reach, effective immediately.

The first major tournament of the season is finally happening. Get up to date with all the teams participating, their odds of winning it all, and more!

Patch 7.22 is certainly overstaying its welcome and it clearly shows in the current professional tournaments. There are almost no new meta developments and for the most part the Summit 11 concentrated on the same exact heroes as the tournaments prior.

Captains and drafters are some of the most revered pros in the scene. The genius drafting strategies and counter picks can win the game before the first bounty runes spawn. Here are some draft ideas to try out for your next battle cup tournament.

Reach had an exciting and informative first week of games, with over 1000 matches played, and over 1200 unique players participating. Here’s the rundown on week 1, and what’s coming down the pipeline.

The idea of a tanky frontline hero in the offlane has been repeated over and over again for the last several months. It makes sense on the professional scene, while working incredibly well in pubs. Building survivability items and allowing yourself to be initiated on has become the go to strategy for a lot of teams and it is unlikely to change until after the new patch is released.

MMR may just be a number but a higher number is superior. Read this article to learn a few tips and tricks on growing your MMR number.

The current meta has been established for a long time but teams still must find their slight edge. At ESL One Hamburg 2019, we saw more of what we’ve been seeing for a few months now.

Feedback has been tremendous and consistent through the first two days of Reach play. We’ve heard the feedback, and we’re working on fixes. We’ll continue to communicate as we develop the platform, and continue iterate based on that feedback up to and through the launch of Season 1.

How to Install Dota 2 on Ubuntu

The most famous strategy game of the decade – DOTA 2

Dota 2 officially came out of the beta version on 9 th July 2013. Ever since its player base has only seen an increase every year. This is very much because of the fact that numerous people have seen dota as a means of becoming rich while having fun. Dota 2 was the first game to offer a tournament where the winning prize was 1 million US dollars. Back in its time, this was something astronomical for the players and the world went ablaze because of Dota. How to get dota 2 installer People from all the world started taking Dota seriously and all the great players tried their hand at the tournament and only one team of 5 people came out victorious. The tournaments only got bigger and more luxurious every year as the biggest prize pools had reached around 25 million US dollars. Dota is now closing in on its sixth year and is not showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Where to download Dota 2 from?

Since Dota 2 is a game that is actively supported on Steam, we will certainly use the official way to download it.

If you have ever gamed on a PC then you obviously know what Steam is. For those of you who have just entered the PC gaming industry, Steam is the place you would go to buy digital games and sometimes software as well. There is no competitor to Steam when it comes to its sheer dominance in the market. From providing a stable place to play online games with your friends or finding those classic retro console games, Steam definitely has it all and is not shy to show it off.

Checking requirements

We always check for hardware requirements of a game but never bother to check the software requirements, as in the supported operating systems of the respective game. This is because we are trained to play on a Windows computer but that needs to change now. A lot of games are not supported on operating systems other than Windows and you do not want to purchase a game only to find out that you cannot run it. A way to make sure that you only search for Linux based games is by typing ‘Linux’ into the search bar. Since Dota 2 is free to play, there will not be a price next to the Play Game button. This means that it can be downloaded for no fee and be ready to play.

Installing Steam

The first way to install Steam is by using the Ubuntu software center. Open the software center up and search for Steam, you can’t miss it. Do that and pretty soon you will be able to download games to your machine.

Another possible way to install the Steam client on to your machine is by typing the following command into your terminal screen:

On the very first start-up of Steam, you will be greeted by an update screen. This screen makes sure that the Steam client is up and ready for the latest version. The next step into getting into Steam is to enter our login information into the username and password fields that show up and press enter. Steam will then verify the information you entered and upon confirmation, take you to the homepage.

To download Dota 2, click on the big bold ‘STORE’ button on the top left of the screen. From there, you can see a search bar. Use it to find Dota 2. It will be a bit below the toolbar which you clicked ‘Store’ on. Apart from the game, there can be many related items available in the store that might show up. Click on the game entry in the list and proceed to the main page of the game. From there, you can see a ton of information on the game such as reviews, system requirements and trailers etc.

The beauty of Steam is that it makes everything so easy. When you have put a game on download, you can completely forget about it until it is done. Steam will simply give you a notification that your download has completed and will let you get to it at your own will. There will be no rush to do anything about it or make adjustments whatsoever. During the whole process of the download, you can continue to use your system fully. The only thing that you should be careful about is not to put something else on download at the same time that could divide the download speed. If it’s outside of Steam, Steam won’t give any warnings about it and simply make do with reduced download speed.

Continue your tasks uninterrupted

By default, Steam pauses downloads whenever you play a Steam game when it is downloading something. This is a very helpful feature as it takes away the troublesome method of pausing a download and then going into the game you are playing. This feature is especially useful because it also removes any unwanted lag you might feel from the downloads that are taking place. This feature is helpful in online games and can be disabled in offline games where there is no internet usage. This allows the downloads to resume in the background without affecting your gaming experience.

Once the game has successfully downloaded on Steam, you are all set to play it on your Ubuntu system. Enjoy an uninterrupted and smooth gaming experience by following the aforementioned method.

Apex Legends connection symbols explained

Here’s what’s happening to your game.

Apex Legends players with connection issues might have seen red icons popping up on their screen during matches, and they’re there to warn you that something’s wrong with your internet.

There are four different symbols that players might spot, and none of them come with text to explain to you what’s happening. Once you figure out what each of them means, it’s way easier to try to fix whatever is causing the issue, or you can at least know that there’s something wrong with Apex’s servers and there’s nothing you can do.

Here are the Apex connection symbols you may find, what each of them means, and a few things you can do to try to fix the issues they indicate.

Latency (Speedometer symbol)

A red speedometer will show up on your screen if your ping value to the Apex servers is too high. That means you’re playing in high latency, which will make the game servers take longer than usual to process any of your inputs, from walking to shooting or using an ability.

You can confirm your issue is high latency if there’s a noticeable delay between the moment you click a button and the moment you see your character performing the corresponding action. This is easier to test while shooting.

High latency can be caused by several things. If you see this symbol all the time regardless of your match, where you’re playing is probably too distant from the closest Apex server, which naturally makes information between your computer and the server take longer to travel.

If you start seeing this occasionally, it means there’s an issue with your internet connection. Ping and latency issues rarely are related to server problems. You might want to contact your internet service provider if such an issue persists or check if your router is working properly.

Packet Loss (red squares)

Packet loss is represented by two squares with a dotted square between them, all arranged diagonally.

This means your computer is failing to send information or receive it from the Apex server. If your character is freezing for a while then suddenly teleporting, or if you’re shooting someone and they’re not receiving damage, that might mean you’re experiencing packet loss and that the server never received information from your end.

You can also interpret it as an extreme latency. If in high latency it takes longer for information to be transferred, in package loss, some information is never transferred. And just like with latency, this issue is commonly linked to your own connection.

Congestion (branch symbol)

The congestion icon pops up when there’s a server-side issue.

If the Apex servers are overloaded for any reason, you’ll see this symbol. That means the server is unable to process information properly for some players either due to many people playing at the same time or because of another unknown problem. There’s nothing you can or should do to fix a congestion issue since it’s not related to your connection. Check Apex’s social media accounts to see if there are any updates about server status or wait a while until it’s fixed.

Prediction error (lines with dots symbol)

A prediction error icon is the one with two parallel lines with dots on them.

This indicates that the server has failed to predict the movement of another player, generally one you’re looking at. The game tries to calculate and predict such behaviors to a certain extent to show them to other players faster, but a prediction error shows that these predictions are wrong.

This is also a server-side problem that you generally can’t do anything about.

The next time you’re playing Apex and see one of these symbols, remember to check the conditions of your internet connection anyway. Sometimes small tweaks can make a difference if you know what you’re doing.

Thread: [GUIDE] Wraith Night :: Axe

Thread Tools
Display
  • Linear Mode
  • Switch to Hybrid Mode
  • Switch to Threaded Mode

I’m seeing too many people pick Axe and don’t know how to build or play him in Wraith Night mode.

HOW:
Start with TWO shields, put your first point in Counter Helix, proceed directly south along the central passage and around the tower to the encampment and spend the first round spawn-camping the south-west region. Here, you will get to level 5 or 6 by the end of wave 1. maybe level 7 if you’re lucky, depending on the spawn rates.

Your skillset priority is R->E->W->Q, Q being the very last skill you raise in the mid-game.

Rush for a Vangaurd, then sell off your second shield and start working on Maelstrom then build Arcane Boots 2.

Start building blade mail by the time you sink your first point into Q, then consider either upgrading to MJollnir, building Assault Curiass or Vladmir’s depending on the situation of the team. DO NOT BUILD A HEART.

WHY:
Having TWO shields to start with will help block most if not all damage in round 1 and some parts of round 2. The shields DO NOT stack, it’s just having more then one will increase the chances of blocking 20 damage. this will keep you alive without needing your W to do so. spawn camping the south-west region will speed up your level advantage over the rest of your team so you can spam your R by the start or middle of round 2.

Rushing a Vangaurd will help you to block damage in round 3 and parts of round 4 as the regular shields will become useless at this point.

Building a Maelstrom is MANDATORY for every hero in Wraith Night mode, because the burst lightning damage greatly helps with killing the masses faster, plus it works when you don’t perform a Counter Helix. (but it won’t trigger when you do Counter Helix)

Spamming your ultimate for instant kills in an area of effect greatly reduces the enemy’s numbers, and Arcane Boots 2 will help you do that.

MJollnir will give you attack speed and a better lightning proc, Assault Curiass and/or Vladmir’s if nobody else built them, for the Aura effects.

Your classic Q+Blade Mail combo will help take down the bigger mobs, and Heart of Tarasque will break every time you take damage – which will be all the time as axe – so do not waste gold building it, it won’t do you one bit of good since your W will be the thing that keeps you alive.

TIPS:
Your job is tanking the enemy and crowd control. if you see a large crowd on the mini-map you should rush to it and use your ultimate to jump in the middle of it. Make sure you ALWAYS have your W active and don’t be afraid to give another team member your W when they need it. use your classic Q+Blade Mail combo if possible. do not spend too much time focusing on one mob, move around as necessary.

Riki – Stealthily Sneaking Around the Meta

In case you haven’t been extremely fortunate, there’s a chance you’ve seen at least a few Bounty Hunters in your pubs in the last 6 months. The hero combines a lot of popular features that players love in a hero. He can play aggressively, get kills and win games–what more could you want? The fact that as a roamer he is sort of a support, but at the same time really isn’t, makes him especially popular in pubs. It’s the cop out of playing support, the “I’ll buy a ward and be done with it” approach.

Pro or pub game, the hero is incredibly strong. However, with bans not only in Captain’s Mode, but also in ranked All Pick now as well, you see a little bit less of the hero–his pickrate dropped by almost 2% in 6.87. What to do, when your favorite roamer is banned? Go for a pseudo Bounty Hunter!

From Pubstar to Identity crisis

For the longest time, Riki has been a pubstar in the most traditional sense. A carry, that can snowball through solo kills and usually requires teamwork and coordination to deal with. He used to be that hero, but not only has support life been improved over the years–with cheaper vision and detection, but also cheaper mobility items–Riki himself has changed a lot. Invisibility used to be his ultimate (“Riki is level 6 now, look out!”) but it seems like forever since it has been this way.

The Rekindling Soul update (6.82, Sept 2014) swapped out his ultimate, Permanent Invisibility with the back then normal ability Blink Strike. It was the start of a long journey of finding Riki’s new destiny. The once designated safelaner was awkward to play in the safelane, as he couldn’t effectively harass the offlaner anymore. People tried running him in the offlane, and it worked. The added HP regen from his invisibility allowed him to be more survivable, but his transition into the midgame wasn’t what you were looking for in an offlaner.

Then 6.86 came along and it introduced an entirely new spell. Invisibility and backstab were united into one ability and Tricks of the Trade became his new ultimate. Riki had just seemed to found a new home in the offlane, but this change threw him into yet another identity crisis. The lack of extra regen made it basically impossible for him to go into the offlane, but the ultimate was also not nearly strong enough to actually make him a viable safelaner.

Role, playstyle & build

Enter roaming Riki. His permanent invisibility allows him to, similarly to Bounty Hunter, disrupt the opponent’s laning stage and force out early invis detection. Depending on the scenario, he is in fact even more effective with the 25% MS slow from Smoke Screen in addition to provide a silence against elusive heroes such as Puck.

The buffs in 6.87–triple the Blink Strike damage than before on level 1– have quite drastically increased his winrate by almost 4% to now 56% across all brackets. These changes however did not change the way you play Riki now, it just made it all the more stronger, especially because you will often find yourself with only one point in Blink Strike, but more on that later.

He is indeed like a Bounty Hunter–who you can read up on here–early on and even throughout the mid to lategame, you want your Riki to provide your team with information by going behind enemy lines and scouting out enemies.

Unlike Bounty Hunter however, Riki does not build into a utility support. You won’t see him pick up Guardian Greaves or a Force Staff. In fact, you want him to build into a 4th core, a damage dealer. His almost reliable damage output through his ultimate allows him to deal a lot of damage with only a few items.

Early on, you want to acquire cost effective items for yourself. An Orb of Venom is almost inevitable and the new Blight Stone is quite good on him too. Going for both Boots and Wind Lace works too, since his natural MS is rather low and he needs to catch up to people for a Blink Strike.

In the midgame, turning the Blight Stone into a Medallion of Courage is the natural next step. Unlike previous core orientated builds, the roaming Riki build even allows you to build Phase Boots on him.

Utility items such as Drum of Endurance or Ring of Aquila work on him too, although neither are game changing and could be skipped depending on the state of the game. An early Diffusal Blade can make a difference, but Team AD FINEM ’s Maybe Next Time showed, that even an Armlet of Mordiggian works on the hero. For a support it’s an easy build up and it provides you with good stats, especially to tank up. Additionally, the HP loss after activation is stopped during Riki’s ultimate, as you enter a state of invincibility. It’s by no means a must purchase, but it’s a an option worth exploring.

Riki’s ultimate is in general a spell that sounded awkward on paper first – not a lot of damage and not as much utility as one might think. However, it is a spell that buys time, like a Phase Shift or an Astral Imprisonment, and works good as a zoning spell, similarly to a Macropyre or a Midnight Pulse. In fact, some Rikis even purchase a Blink Dagger to blink out of the ultimate and be more elusive. Nothing is more frustrating than spending dust or sentries on a support Riki, only for him to escape with low HP.

After these items, the sky’s the limit. As a support roamer, it’s generally never bad to purchase a team orientated item such as a Vladmir’s Offering, but increasing your damage output with a Sange and Yasha or a Skull Basher is also a viable option.

Picks and Counters

Since the hero is intended to be a Bounty Hunter 2.0, it’s best to pick him when you can afford to have a roamer, meaning you have a stable safelane, but also when there are holes to poke through in the opponent’s line-up. If there is a greedy jungler to punish, a weak midlaner to gank or a squishy support to bully, Riki is your pick. Of course he does not deal well with burst damage or lockdown, least of all in an AoE. Mobile heroes are a pain to deal with, because they can catch you out after your ultimate, but at the same time your silence is a good counter to them as well.

There aren’t many notable heroes that work well with or against Riki that aren’t already mentioned in discussions about Bounty Hunter, but Io deserves a special mention. A Blink Strike while tethered allows for an incredible slow, especially when combined with the smoke screen. The mobility on both just synergizes well and the global gank potential is strong. That said, it leaves you with zero disables on your support duo, so this is something that needs to be compensated by your cores.

Closing Thoughts

Riki does a lot of things similar to Bounty Hunter, and if the goal was to have an aggressive laning stage and Bounty was banned, surely Riki would be the pick. That said, Bounty Hunter’s appeal goes far beyond the laning stage and Riki has yet to prove that his does too. Granted he’s supposed to be the replacement of the most popular and possibly most dangerous hero in the meta right now, he simply does not offer enough to be just that. He can however be a strong niche pick, the curveball in a draft that throws your enemy off.

You could argue that, while he may not have as much burst as Bounty, his overall damage output is generally greater. He can solo kill supports and poses a bigger threat in teamfights and his permanent invisibility–which doesn’t break when using items, which is useful for planting Wards–usually requires more invis detection to deal with.

Riki is a good hero, his currently 54% winrate in the 5k+MMR bracket shows thas well. He is also a good roamer, and if the meta shifts just a little bit, we may just see a little bit more of him. For now, he works just well enough to at least roam the pubs in the higher brackets.

Hi, I am moving to work in China. Dota 2 jiaoying Can I still connect to Dota 2 servers and steam there? How is it done?

I heard something about “Perfect World” which is the platform Dota 2 is played in China, but not exactly sure what I need to do, a google search and reddit search just confused me more.

Could someone that knows give me a good explanation please? Perhaps some other expat like myself moving there for work.

Of course you will be able to play DOTA there. The Chinese client is the biggest market for DOTA. So big in fact, that as you mentioned, in order to abide by the standards set by the economic legislation of specific countries, Valve opted to contract with nationally-based developers for publishing. Thus, Perfect World (A Beijing video game developer), announced the acquisition of the exclusive rights to publish and distribute Dota 2 in China. Dota 2 jiaoying You will be able to sync your steam account to the PW servers without losing any of your cosmetics or stats

Hey, thanks for the info, buddy. Do I need to install a new game client or something? My research on reddit found people stating all sorts of problems.

Can I use my existing computer with all the software loaded and just change some settings?

I really don’t want the game to play the game on a Chinese language client.

Nope you won’t need to install a new client

You just need to link your perfect world account with your Dota2/Steam account.

1) Go to http://members. dota2.com. cn/login to start registering your Perfect World account
Fill up the register form and get your confirmation code through email

2) Now you have a PW account and it shows that you have not yet linked dota2/steam account
Launch your dota2 with parameters, – perfectworld for perfectworld version and – language schinese for simplified chinese UI if u need. In addition, language in dota 2 here determines your in-game voice language, so far 3 languages available and you may need to download additional voice packs.
Launch and you’ll see different screens, start linking process, and click play. Your Chinese/PerfectWorld dota2 is now activated.

Biography [ edit ]

Coming from iLx along with N0tail and NoVa, Tal took over the drafter role in Fnatic HoN squad. Being one of the longest serving members of Fnatic HoN squad, he switched with the team to Dota 2. Tal played the offlane role for Secret Team, joining them along with BigDaddy. Tal and n0tail were separated at the end of 2014, but re-united after The International 2015 in order to create OG, where Tal once again is the captain and drafter while playing the support role. Between the two of them they share one of the longest standing camaraderies in the history of e-sports. He later won the Frankfurt Major 2015 and into the new year in June The Manila Major 2016. Although suffering a shock exit during the early stages of The International 2016 he and N0tail continued with OG. [1]

Dota 2 [ edit ]

With the growth of Dota 2 and the decline of the Heroes of Newerth scene, Fly, along with Fnatic’s HoN squad made the jump to Dota 2 at 2012. The team showed much of its strength throughout their time, consistently making it to at the least top 4 of most of their premier tournaments, and being able to compete against the established teams of the scene such as Natus Vincere, Alliance and Empire.

Invited to The International 2013, the team was eliminated at 7th-8th place. After TI3, the team showed mixed results, still hitting top half in multiple premier lans such as DreamLeague, RaidCall. Ultimately, a horrible performance at TI4, which left the team failing to make it to the main event prompted Fly and n0tail to leave Fnatic to help form Team Secret, with Fly shifting to the offlane. His time with the team left them with top half positions at ESL One New York, StarLadder and the Summit 2, though he later departed from Secret at the end of the year. Playing briefly for Meepwn’d, Fly shifted to the North American scene, joining many other HoN converts at Complexity gaming. The team proceeded to fail in qualifying in all but one of the premier tournaments, The International 2015. At TI5, Complexity finished at the bottom half, and Fly departed soon after, accompanied by MoonMeander.

Returning to the European scene, he rejoined with n0tail, and the two formed (monkey) Business, where his only lan with the team name was a 3rd-4th place finish at MLG World Finals, though the team was able to qualify for the Frankfurt Major. In the lead up to the Major, (monkey) Business was signed by OG, and the team proceeded to defeat Secret at the grand finals of the major, the team’s first lan win. After top 4 placings at the Summit and MDL, the team was invited to the Shanghai Major, where they were unceremoniously dropped by Fnatic.

After suffering another hiccup at Dota Pit, the team recovered with a 3rd place finish at EPICENTER, and proceeded to dominate the scene once more, taking the Reaver at the Manila Major. Winning ESL One Frankfurt, and coming 2nd at the Summit, OG was once again upset, being eliminated from The International 2016 by TNC. The team proceeded to have a major reshuffle, with Fly and n0tail remaining with OG. The team progressively showed its growth with a 3rd place finish at MDL which led to 2nd place finish at the Summit 6. Eventually, Fly was able to once again stand victorious at a Major, with OG taking their third at Boston. The team remained in top form with 2nd place finishes at DAC and Dota Pit, paving the team’s way in taking the Kiev Major.

After ESL Birmingham, in the leadup to TI8, Fly announced he was leaving OG, with immediate effect. As of TI8, Fly is currently playing as a position 5 support for Evil Geniuses.
